Re: [Talk-gb-westmidlands] Birmingham/Solihull 1:25, 000 Out Of Copyright mapping now available

2009-10-21 Thread Andy Robinson (blackadder-lists)
I've confirmed the order today for the 10 maps. Price works out at £6.90
each but there will be some postage to add which will be on the invoice once
I receive delivery. I'd expect all in £7.50 per map will cover everything if
some are wanting to hand over cash this weekend. Otherwise I'll give paypal
details once I know the final total. They are being posted today but I might
not receive them till next week of course!

The maps are a mixture of flat and folded sheets. All published in the
1950's with just one sheet (SJ80 Wolverhampton NW) published 1959 which will
have to wait until the New Year to be scanned and uploaded. Not long to wait
now though.

Cheers

Andy

Mary is kindly covering Kenilworth, so that leaves just three on the
Wolverhampton side now.

Ok folks, here is the list of sheets covering the west mids. Names
alongside to show sponsorship (though I'll split the cost evenly between
all once we know what the damage is).

There are a small number without a name alongside (the ones with the
asterisk). I'll get the prices and we can see if anyone else wants to chip
in to cover these.

Cheers

Andy

2009-10-18 Thread Andy Robinson (blackadder-lists)
Awesome, thanks Christoph. Anyone else want to chip in before I get a quote?
We have about half a dozen more to pick up to cover the whole of the west
mids. I still have a few to upload and I'm getting the Wolverhapton sheet on
loan this week to scan (should be available for next weekends mapping). We
still need sheets for Coventry for instance. I'll sponsor the sheet to the
NE of Birmingham that has Sutton on it.

Wow, that's great! I think, I'll spend the weekend drawing brooks :-)

Thanks for scanning these! Do you already have the adjoining sheets
 to the south and west?

Unfortunately not at the present time. They are available from
companies like David Archer Maps but the cost will around £8 a sheet
(they quote for what you want each time). Currently I'm getting them
as and when they come up on ebay for much less (with 2027 in the set
to collect its too much at £8 a sheet) but if anyone wants to sponsor
a sheet I'll check what the current retail price is.

I am happy to sponsor for the two sheets south west and south of the SW
Birmingham sheet. I was about to buy an up-to-date map for walking in
the area but I rather spend the money for a 50 years old map and walk
without a map.

Cheers,
Christoph

2009-10-17 Thread Ed Loach
As a follow up, I've now also added the sheet to the NE of
 Wolverhampton.

Looks a totally different place without the motorways!

Oxley and Bushbury look useful though; some of those areas are
already mapped but I think there is more still to do there.
Unfortunately there are also many new roads in the last 50 years as
well.
