Re: TB does not print
Greetings Peter, D!@#$! I fixed this on mine, but can't remember what I did to fix it. Like you, my Epson wouldn't print from TB!, but would print from everything else. The symptoms you describe are EXACTLY what happened to me, and as I recall, I posted a very similar message on the list where I failed to get an answer that could help (like this one grin). I beleive I eventually solved it by doing the following: 1. Delete all printers from the printer folder. 2. Reinstall from scratch the EPSON printer drivers and USB printer port (if appropriate). Incidentally, what OS are you using? Re[2]: TB does not print
Greetings Dieter, That seems consistent with my experience, as I had an Epson Actionlaser 1500 which worked perfectly, then when I moved to the Epson Stylus Color 860 I had the problem. Took me awhile to figure out, simply reinstalling the driver failed to rectify the problem on '98, and it remained on ME until I completely removed all traces of the driver from the system, then installed from scratch. However that may be due to ME and '98 while I am unsure what Peter is running. Of course Cees says he had no problems with Whistler... Re[3]: TB does not print
Greetings -=/ Cees /=-, Hmmm, as I recall I downloaded the latest version as well, but simply reinstalling it over the other failed. I was running 98SE at the time, and when I moved to ME (by doing an upgrade ---very bad Idea), the problem continued. I actually ended up removing all traces and reinstalling before it worked. Whistler though uses the new NT based driver model correct? ME can (insofar as I recall), but defalut ME drivers tend to be the 9X driver model so I'm not particularly surprised you aren't seeing the problems we are/were Unless of course you are using an 9X driver... Re[2]: Poll: Is 154/49 an RC?
Greetings Joseph, I normally stay pretty quiet on this list, but I thought I'd come out of LURK mode, and address your comments. I feel that 1.54 is the next obvious step. There are still quite a few 1.53 and prior release bugs floating around, some of which make regular contributors to this list practically foam at the mouth when each new beta or release comes out and they aren't fixed. In order for this to be a 2.0 release, IMHO the outstanding major and a vast majority of the minor bugs should be fixed. Having said that, and hoping to address the subject question, I think 1.49 should definitely be an RC. In my somewhat eclectic reading of the list, a lot of the problems recently discussed seem somewhat esoteric, and I think given the improvements in the RTV and a few other features, that now is the time to distribute the whole program in a installable executable. (Just my .02 everyone...) As to your complex point on where The Bat! is targeted, I think you are absolutely correct in your thought that it is really only in use (for the most part) by a dedicated and somewhat vocal group of people who not only enjoy its' vast capabilities and virtual immunity to the plague of MS engendered Macro viruses, but actually LIKE its' somewhat dated interface appearance, its' often confusing menu options, and its' immensely capable but often hard to use Filtering system. Having said all that, I THINK RITLabs target market are the huge number of OE users out there, and they not only want, but expect a handholding experience coupled with a swank and sexy interface. Unfortunately The Bat! has a slightly dated look. As well, the menu structure is often (as mentioned early) complex, and slightly counterintuitive. In order to go to 2.0, I think these will have to be addressed. Personally, I think it looks fine, I just wish (like many others) that the menus were rationalized and simplified, after all of these months of development and feature additions. Anyway, I've rambled enough...back to LURK mode for me... Regards, Scott... The reason I raise -| this at all, which is not a Beta testing issue but a corporate -| marketing issue, is that I think the new release of TB! should be well -| tailored to the role that RITlabs wants the program to play in the -| world. If it should continue to be a well designed program for -| general use by a small group, which is what it is now, then perhaps -| neither a face lift nor any particular numbering scheme matter. If, -| on the other hand, its release is going to be part of a major -| marketing push, then version numbers matter. Facelift, too, I guess, -| but I still don't see what's wrong with the current appearance; I'd -| say it's more important for widespread acceptance to have the menu -| redesigned than the graphics. Maybe we can collect the persistent bugs that counter my idea of 154/49 being a release candidate. For me, I still do find some bugs not being fixed. Most of them are merely cosmetic, elusive or special (that is, found in circumstances usually only encountered by power users). Even my pet bugs from the CC fall in these categories. Avi's bug is definitely more serious as it would affect new users but not old timers like me. I know that Thomas F. once had a list of bugs found in the CC. Let's make something else here. --

Re: Lost Toolbar Customizations
Hello Roelof Kevin, Wednesday, May 18, 2005, 2:23:02 AM, you wrote: KC Now if I can just get my spam plugin to stay installed. :( RO What plug-in do you use? BayesFilter 2.0.2? What if you use an older RO version? Over here I can't get BayesFilter 2.0.2 get stuck in my RO preferences, but when I try it with BayesFilter 1.5.6 everything is RO okay. I have been experiencing the same disappearing plugin problem with BF 2.0.2 and my Avast! Plugin. While trying to solve it, I tried the following: I copied the BayesFilter.tbp to my TB directory (E:\The Bat\), and then edited the file TBPlugin.ini which is located in E:\The Bat\MAIL\. I changed it to look like the below by editing the lines: Plugin #1= in both the [Plugins] and [Plugin Data] sections. [Plugins] Count=2 Plugin #1=e:\the bat\BayesFilter.tbp Plugin #2=d:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\AvBatPlg.tbp [Plugin Data] Plugin #2= d:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\AvBatPlg.tbp Plugin #1=e:\the bat\BayesFilter.tbp Plugin #3= After doing this for the BayesFilter, I tried it on my Avast Plugin, and after restarting TB, I somehow ended up with the file looking like this: [Plugins] Count=2 Plugin #1=%PROGRAMDIR%\BayesFilter.tbp Plugin #2=d:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\AvBatPlg.tbp [Plugin Data] Plugin #2= d:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\AvBatPlg.tbp Plugin #1= Plugin #3= After all of this, the BayesFilter Plugin and the AV Plugin both appear to be sticking (and working! I think...grin) I hope this helps... -- Best regards, Scott Using TB: 3.5 On Windows XP: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 And Avast!: with DB: TB Plugin: Current beta is (none) | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
Re: Bayes Filter Plugin
Hello Sean, Saturday, May 28, 2005, 5:52:52 AM, you wrote: SR I noticed this morning that the Bayes Filter plugin 2.02 was lost by SR TB!. For some reason the current beta just lost it out of the SR settings :( And no matter what you do, it never sticks. I had it sticking once under the 3.5 Release version by editing the tbpluin.ini file, but when I updated to a newer MSI it got nuked, and refuses to stay loaded no matter what I do. I've looked on Achims page, and haven't seen anything fresh posted in awhile, but I haven't emailed him direct on this matter yet. For the time being, I'm using the BayseIt! Plug-in provided in the TB Distro. It seems to be working pretty well, and was pretty easy to train. I liked some of the features and controls that Bayes Filter offered, but it don't work, so there ya go! Just wanted to let you know you weren't alone. Wish I had a fix to pass on! grin. Note, my Avast! Plug-ins don't work either, so I suspect something has changed on the TB side, but I wouldn't swear to it! -- Best regards, Scott Using TB: 3.5.21 On Windows XP: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 And Avast!: with DB: TB Plugin: Current beta is 3.5.21 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
