notice that some folks on the list have 1.38 without the 'e', so perhaps
that is the first 1.38 and should be updated.

Get it if you want to use the International support... E.g. menus
in Russian, or Spanish, or whatever. It's not the substitute for
TB itself, it's just addition... It isn't updated very often, just when
the bugs are found. You can use it until RIT labs tell you the
new one is out. It's not version-specific.

*.lng file is updated more often, it's just a part of Intpack. It
contains *actual* string resources for the foreign languages
supported (if you understand what I mena:-)). But you'll need
Intpack itself to use *.lng file...

The size of Intpack is due to the number of foreign languaages
currently supported, it's growth in size is therefore inevitable
too.

Upgrading, backuping/restoring, account folder structure (was: Re: Upgrade 1.35 -------- 1.36)

1999-12-08 Thread Christopher J. Trybowski

On Wednesday, December 08, 1999 NDS8nz wrote:

Would like to know if I can upgrade my registered version 1.35 to
 1.36 without a problem.

Sure you can. You can either download only the executable file or the
whole distribution (in 1.38 help file is also upgraded!). You can
safely re-install new version over old one.

However it is always good to have a recent backup of your mail folder.
"Just in case"!

Oh, somebody once asked about restoring a backup when only mail folder
was saved. I'll write about this here, as I think it's pretty
connected. So -- in your mail folder there is almost all the critical
data you need. But one thing -- the account names are in registry.
So you either have to save your registry somewhere with you "mail"
folder (be careful -- it also consists your registration info!) or
just have to re-create it after restoring mail in *fresh* install.

To restore information about accounts you just have to use
"account/new" procedure, give the account any name you wish, but in
"home directory" choose the folder where you have your old account.

For example: I have my mail in MAIL subfolder. This folder has
subfolders that correspond to my different accounts. One of the
folders is called "darmo.alter.pl" (my mail account is called the
same, but it makes no difference). Now, if I install new fresh TB
copy, I'll just need to click account/new, in the name I can type
anything, like "my secondary account" and then I'll have to set home
directory to "darmo.alter.pl". BUT if I just type darmo.alter.pl in
account name, then no need to specify "home directory". Just repeat
the procedure for your all accounts.

Another thing that might be useful is the account structure. Go to
any folder of your accounts and look at account.* files.

Account.cfg -- the main configuration file of your accounts. Includes
everything you can find in "account/properties".

Account.fld -- here the info about folders is stored. The file is not
created in new TB! versions - now account.flx is used.
Account.flx -- here the info about folders is stored (including
folder-specific templates

Account.log -- the log file of your account.

Account.m_d Account.m_r -- have no idea what these are for. They are
created after the first mailcheck, but...

Account.qtp -- here your quick templates are stored. The file is not
created in new TB! versions - now account.qtn is used.
Account.qtn -- here your quick templates are stored.

Account.srt -- here your filters are stored. The file is not created
in new TB! versions - now account.srx is used.
Account.srx -- here your filters are stored.

I'm not sure if you can delete files *.srt, *.qtp *.fld when you have
corresponding *.stx *.qtn *.flx... Maybe I'll test it later...

I hope I haven't mistaken anything. Of course you may use this info at
your own risk only.

Best regards,
