[tslug] DVD to VCD

2002-09-21 Thread Benjamin Story

Hi all,

I've been trying to get drip compiled so that I can make backups of some of my DVDs,
but I can't get it to compile even after compiling all of the prereq packages. Does
anyone know of a utility (preferably with a Mandrake RPM) that I can use to do the DVD
rip and conversion?

[tslug] Re: InstallFest~Linux installation help

2002-09-21 Thread Brandon Chisham

What kind of system are you planning on putting it on?
What distro do you want?
Desktops with Win 9x are pretty easy to install, but laptops with win 2k
or XP are more difficult. If it is using NTFS, partition magic will be
required to resize the windows partition. If there is a FAT 32 (Windows 9x
partition) on the machine it can be resized for a Linux install with the
tools on the install cd. I have ISO images shared at //linux_box/mandrake
.

[tslug] Re: InstallFest~Linux installation help

2002-09-21 Thread Brian Stock

Just to let everyone know, lest the list become inundated with offers to
help, I agreed to help Ashley install Linux on her box. An HP laptop
running XP, luckily there's already a partition set up for Linux. I'm
sure any links to beginner's Linux information would be helpful though,
so anyone who knows of some good tutorials should post them. It might
also be useful to compile this list to be added to the website.

Brian
