[Bug 123495] Re: OpenOffice.org files do not open over SSH Gnome VFS share

2007-12-01 Thread Calvin Priest
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 41985 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41985

This bug has been around for a while, and I think it ought to be bumped
up a notch in priority, and here's why...

If it wasn't for this bug, I could recommend mapped gnomevfs-ssh folders
as a simple file-sharing arrangement that would work well for most
people most of the time. Setting up Samba can be complicated,
especially if you want to give write access for specific people to
specific folders, whereas mapping a gnomevfs-ssh connection is an
incredibly simple, secure, and even elegant solution...if only it didn't
crash Openoffice.

Thanks!

[Bug 173199] Confusing system requirements on website

2007-12-01 Thread Onkar Shinde
Public bug reported:

http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/desktopedition shows had disk
requirements as 4GB
http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/desktop/features shows hard disk
requirements as 2GB

I was able to do a PPC installation in 1.7 GB which did not include
OpenOffice.org. SO technically it is possible to have a Ubuntu desktop
installed in 2GB. But what is recommended spec? Is it possible to make
it clear on website. If not at least correct the discrepancy.

Thank you for the reply.

In Ubuntu 7.04 I had issues with MS Pro Duo. The system refused to copy
files to it as well MS Pro was not detected at all. In 7.10 I was able
to copy what I want to the MS Pro Duo. I did't try that for the Pro
version but I think it would work too. Right now I can't test this
because I don't have Ubuntu (working on a windows project) But by the
time for 8.04 Beta I will be able to download and test it again.

[Bug 173203] [CVE-2007-6077] Potential session fixation attack

2007-12-01 Thread William Grant
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rails

The session fixation protection mechanism in cgi_process.rb in Rails
1.2.4, as used in Ruby on Rails, removes the :cookie_only attribute from
the DEFAULT_SESSION_OPTIONS constant, which effectively causes
cookie_only to be applied only to the first instantiation of CgiRequest,
which allows remote attackers to conduct session fixation attacks. NOTE:
this is due to an incomplete fix for CVE-2007-5380.

Hardy has 1.2.6, so should be fixed.

 Please follow the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Debugging
 and attach the appropriate debugging information.

Well I've shown you a working xorg.conf - and compared it against the
broken, default system generated xorg.conf, what more do you want?
Surely its possible to see the differences between the two, and see
where the default configuration has gone wrong isn't it?

If there was something particular you wanted to know, it might be
helpful to ask for it.

[Bug 173205] konqueror doesn't allow to add a bookmark to a folder in the bar

2007-12-01 Thread uqbar
Public bug reported:

I am using a bookmark bar with Konqueror v3.5.8 in Gutsy.
I cannot add a new bookmark to a folder shown into the bookmark bar. Konqueror
says (translated from Italian):
There's not enough free space in the disk, please fix the proboem as soon as
possible.
of course, I have plenty of free space ( 100GB) in the disk where the home
direcotry (and thus the .kde sub directory) has been created.
The only way to add bookmarks in those folders is to do it through the bookmark
menu in the menu bar, then browsing to the right folder and finally to add the

[Bug 147277] Re: Gutsy WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-source-2.6.22-2.6.22/drivers/hid/hid-core.c:777 implement()

2007-12-01 Thread Typhoe
Hi,

no this problem has disappear. There's no more key repetition and
strange messages in log.

But my keyboard/mouse (logitech bluetooth) is not usable out of the box yet.
After a fresh install, I still have to connect a non-bluetooth keyboard to my
PC to add the MAC of the mouse and keyboard to the bluetooth config file.
Well, that's another problem.

I close this bug entry, thank you.

[Bug 173107] Re: bluetooth module can't recieve filetransfer

2007-12-01 Thread Pascal d'Hermilly
I didn't have gnome-bluetooth installed. but this is not a default program,
right?
Anyway, it didn't change the behaviour that I started it. I still can't connect.

Also I tested with a Kubuntu 7.10 live cd. It doesn't work.
It does however work out of the box with an old 6.06 Kubuntu dapper cd I had
lying around.

I'm quite sure it also works out of the box with 7.04 live cd, although
I haven't tested today. partly because I never had this problem before
upgrading to gutsy.

[Bug 148272] Re: grsynch crashes on save session

The bug is also reproducible under Ubuntu Gusty/7.10 with the Grsync 0.6.1 from
http://www.opbyte.it/grsync/
compiled from source with ./configure make sudo checkinstall

The crash is due to the load_groups() in the on_session_add_clicked() of
callback.c
test: comment the load_groups() call in on_session_add_clicked() and compile,
grsync will not crash but you will have to restart grsync to see the new

[Bug 173208] program exits following Java Exception

2007-12-01 Thread Simone F.
Public bug reported:

It actually happens in Gutsy with pdftk's latest deb build, 1.40-2ubuntu3
(depending on newest gcj1-8 libraries).
If you install it then run it with something on the command line, e.g. 'pdftk
file1.pdf file2.pdf output file1-2.pdf' it will output a list of Java
Exceptions originating from a MD5 function not found. I could post it
eventually, but you can try and see it for yourself.

This happens, as I found out, only since the version shipped with Gutsy.
Instead the build 1.40-2 from Feisty which depends on ligcj7-0 ( all dep: libc6
(= 2.5-0ubuntu1), libgcc1 (= 1:4.1.1-17ubuntu1), libgcj7-0 (= 4.1.1-12),
libstdc++6 (= 4.1.1-17ubuntu1) ), works flawlessly.

[Bug 156325] Re: New fglrx 8.42.3 to Gutsy

2007-12-01 Thread Jose Bernardo
Some googling lead me to
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_itempx=NTkyMg. I extracted
the ati-driver-installer package, and copied (sudo cp
./common/etc/ati/control /etc/ati/) the control file. That got rid of
the unsupported hardware logo. My question is, shouldn't these two
files be included in the hardy fglrx* packages?

I see that stunnel 3:4.20-5 got synced somehow.

Can someone please check if we need the lost Ubuntu changes for dapper
- hardy upgrade?

[Bug 164993] Re: Suddenly it's like if I have not audio board: no sounds!

2007-12-01 Thread medigeek
I like to provide my info like this, it will show a lot of info about
your hardware

sudo lshw  $HOME/Desktop/hardware.txt

lspci -nnv  $HOME/Desktop/pci.txt
lsusb -nnv  $HOME/Desktop/usb.txt

cat /proc/asound/cards  $HOME/Desktop/sound.txt
grep Codec /proc/asound/card0/codec#*  $HOME/Desktop/card0_codec.txt

Check your Desktop, read sound.txt. If you see that the card says HDA Intel,
check this website:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Gutsy_Intel_HD_Audio_Controller

Attach on this bug report these files (Check your Desktop): hardware.txt
pci.txt usb.txt sound.txt card0_codec.txt
(Zip them into one file, it will be easier)

[Bug 156581] Re: usbnet: Zaurus C860 doesn't connect any more

2007-12-01 Thread yens
Steven,

thanks a lot, it worked for me.

Here a more detailed version of your solution, it may help somebody:

// you need to be root (at some point)

sudo bash -l

// get libcurses need for make menuconfig

#apt-get install libncurses5-dev

// get the kernel sources

#cd /usr/src/

#apt-get source linux-image-2.6.22-14-generic

// make some changes

#cd linux-source-2.6.22-2.6.22

// my kernelversion is 2.6.22-14, but
// the downloaded patchfile has a wrong subversion
// number, so correct this:
#vi Makefile

   replace
  EXTRAVERSION = .9
   with
  EXTRAVERSION = .14

#vi /usr/src/linux-
source-2.6.22-2.6.22/debian/config/i386/config.generic

   replace
  CONFIG_USB_NET_ZAURUS is not set
   with
  CONFIG_USB_NET_ZAURUS=m

//get original configuration
#cp/boot/config-2.6.22-14-generic /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.22-2.6.22/

#mv /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.22-2.6.22/config-2.6.22-14-generic
/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.22-2.6.22/.config

//change in .config
CONFIG_USB_NET_ZAURUS is not set
 to
CONFIG_USB_NET_ZAURUS=m

//compile the module

#mkdir /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.22-2.6.22/.tmp_versions

#cd /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.22-2.6.22/

# make drivers/net/usb/zaurus.ko

//install it

# cp /usr/src/linux-source-2.6.22-2.6.22/drivers/net/usb/zaurus.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/kernel/drivers/net/usb

# depmod -a
