[Bug 357673] Re: No notification when sliding audio volume, muting volume, sliding LCD brightness on X31, X32, T60, R50e, T42, R52
For the volume you can change the line that reads volume3 to volume*7. notify_notification_set_hint_int32(not, value, volume3); I normally use shifts wherever possible, but obviously LSL by 3 multiplies by 8, and given a maximum raw volume of 14, that goes a bit above the maximum. Nonetheless multiplying by 7 stays a bit under the minimum. If you happen to have a maximum of 15, choose whatever value you think is suited :P Same thing for the brightness; find the following line: show_notify_brightness(brightness*14); And change it to whatever you want, but remember that we are dealing with integers and not float/double. Re: [Bug 150690] Re: Compiz Gutsy : Can't drag a window to another workspace
IMO the switcher should be like a mini 'expo' when in compiz mode, and classic style when in metacity. 2009/5/6 wdesmet krom...@gmail.com @paul beardsell: that sets the window manager back to metacity instead of compiz which is why it works again. [Bug 368175] Re: Failed to load module libcanberra-gtk-module.so
My first observation is, that it is strange to use STDERR for other purposes than outputting error messages. After all, you cannot blame gtk for sending error messages to STDERR! Definitely it is strange to use the STDERR instead of STDOUT, and after seen what happened in this case, I inmediately change it in the new script I' m writing. Suppressing all error messages is a workaround with undesirable side- effects: error messages usually are there with a purpose. You are right, but in this case are suppressed only the errors from gtk 1.x.x, and probably if the gtk install is seriously broken your computer will show more problems... The next thing is the error message by itself. The requested module is simply there, in my installation In my installation as well Besides, it is not indicated as a dependency of Xdialog (well, maybe it is an indirect dependency, Xdialog developper assumes that gtk installation MUST be 100 % ok on each computer, for this reason he doesn' t care about dependencies. libcanberra deals with sound and I don't consider that as an essential part of the functionality of Xdialog. [Bug 368461] Re: desktop freeze with kwin desktop effects on Radeon X600 and X1600
In my experience I've see tree types of freeze: (1) system freeze, the screen propose the last seeing, the mouse can move, pc don't respond with keyboad, ssh on (and safely reboot). This behaviour is related to bug #351990 (2) the screen become black and the pc don't respond at all: no mouse, no keyboard, no ssh (hard reboot). [Bug 372532] Re: Random xorg crash with gdm_slave_xioerror_handler fatal error
Also, do you current use the compiz window manager? i.e. what is your setting in System::Preferences::Appearance::Visual Effects ? Or, even better do you have access to 2 computers? If so, it would be useful if you connected to the affected system with ssh and then attached GDB to the X process. Once the bug happens again, please run bt full in gdb and paste the output here. To make that more convenient you can first activate logging in gdb using set logging file xorg_backtrace.txt followed by set logging on; all subsequent gdb out is then recorded to this file. [Bug 372695] [NEW] create new user account silently fails
Public bug reported: As a system administrator, if you try to create a new account, using the graphical utility (System-Administration-Users and Groups) and you set the user id manually to a value that is already in use by another user, the program will silently ignore the action (it will show the new user in the list, but if you close the utility and reopent it again, the new user is gone -- and it never really gets written in /etc/passwd). The problems, as I see them, currently are: 1. The utility allows you to set the user id to a value that is already in use without giving a warning 2. The utility shows you a list of users that is not a real reflection of /etc/passwd How to reproduce it: 1. Inspect /etc/passwd and look for an existing user account. Take note of its user id (usually 1001 would work) 2. Open the Users and Groups tool, create a new user and in the Advanced tab, set the user ID to this number (1001) 3. See how the new user is shown in the list of users 4. Close the Users and Groups tool 5. Open the users and Groups tool 6. Verify that the new user does not exist. [Bug 372697] [NEW] sudo is slow in jaunty
Public bug reported: I have thinkpad t61 which i've upgraded from 8.10 to jaunty. I have enabled my finger reader in the past and it worked great in 8.10 after the upgrade these things happened: 1. it takes 6 seconds from the time i write 'sudo cmd' until i get a prompt for the password. 2. i need to swipe my finger 3 times before it accepts it. 3. if i make a mistake in the password, several seconds pass till the 'sorry' message and several more till i get the prompt for password again. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- sudo is slow in jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372697 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 367991] Re: opengl shader not supported
oh by the way I tried fglrx and it's working fine so the problem is probably inside mesa and will probably corrected or at least an hop will exist but not before all the work on radeon-rewrite, gems, xorg ... will be done. -- opengl shader not supported https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/367991 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
