[Bug 126103] Re: should apply icons to xdg-user-dirs

2009-06-02 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Upstream wants to use separate icons (no emblems) so I asked to the icon
naming spec guru, and he told that the icon names should be folder-foo

So this is the new patch.
Anyway upstream seems really not so interested on giving different icons for
xdg directories...
Is canonical interested?

[Bug 382691] [NEW] Koffice requires newer libqca2-plugins-ossl to open encrypted documents

2009-06-02 Thread Jon Severinsson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libqca2-plugin-ossl

Using the version of libqca2-plugins-ossl from jaunty will cause Koffice
(both version 1.9.99.9 and 2.0.0) to fail to open encrypted odf
documents with an error about missing hash funtions.

After updating libqca2-plugin-ossl to the latest version ( 2.0.0-beta3 )
availible upstream ( http://delta.affinix.com/qca/ ) it works just fine.
I've uploaded the debs to my ppa (

test.

Looks like there is another Ubuntu bug report linked to the same xorg

[Bug 273859] Re: Apache mod_dav_svn leaking memory

2009-06-02 Thread depe
I found another option which works correctly now:

I did set 'SVNAllowBulkUpdates Off' in my mod_dav_svn config file and now
memory consumption stays normal (450MB with about 10 users) during the whole
checkout, even with about 1.6GB data / 6000 files to get (few hours required).
Before (default value is On when option is not explicitly set), I could easily
get 500MB used after 15mn, if I let the process it would eventually fill up the
whole RAM/swap.

To summarize, this option will force SVN clients to request only parts of the
tree to get, and not the entire tree within one request.
Default behavior is to let the client decide which amount of data to get for
one request.
This could explain why TortoiseSVN 1.6 has different behavior than SVN 1.6
command line version.
I indeed only got this memory problem using TortoiseSVN and not with SVN
command line.

[Bug 382705] [NEW] docky grouped menu titles are too narrow / truncated

2009-06-02 Thread Dominic Evans
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-do

When right-clicking on, for example, the gnome-terminal icon in docky
you receive a context list showing all the terminal windows you have
open. However, the width of the context menu is far too narrow to show
any useful content.

For the terminal example, the user is simply presented with a number of
'u...@user-laptop.' entries, with no way of telling one from the
other. Standard gnome-panel, when configured to group windows, correctly
displays the entire title of all terminals on the context menu.

This is especially a problem if the user is using a 96 dpi setting for
their monitor properties as even less text is visible.

Docky should either have no limit on the width of these menus
(dynamically adjusting to fit content), or should dramatically increase
the fixed width, or should allow the user to set a preference
determining the width.

[Bug 382708] [NEW] docky in auto-hide mode only re-appears if user mouses over width of docky panel

2009-06-02 Thread Dominic Evans
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-do

With docky auto-hiding enabled, the user must currently move the mouse
to the bottom of the screen to cause docky to be un-hidden.

However, with current behaviour, the user must actually also have the
mouse within the boundary defined by the width of docky when it was
previously displayed to successfully trigger un-hiding.

In contrast, Dock.app on the mac allows the user to move the mouse to
anywhere along the bottom of the screen to cause the dock to be re-
displayed. This behaviour would seem to be more intuitive and docky
should ideally replicate it.

[Bug 207938] Re: prism-gmail new mail notification popup should be optional

2009-06-02 Thread Justin Vermillion
As Prism is still in a beta stage, it is a bit inconvenient to fiddle
with that sort of thing, but in the meantime you can just browse to the
location of the Prism gmail app (wherever your Prism install landed,
followed by /webapps/gm...@prism.app, for example) and remove the
webapp.js file, which in this release only contains the mail
notification code.

I know it's not the BEST solution, but it's all that is available for
now.

Cheers,
JV

2009-06-02 Thread headlessspider
ey teej,

i have done what you requested (am running jaunty)

just an update. i was copying approximately 220 megabytes of files to a
samba server via sshfs and it just stopped at the point where 32.4
megabytes have been transferred. i left it alone for about 20 minutes
and when i got back it was still there.

i'm trying to confirm if it also happens on an hp compaq nc6320 also
running on jaunty.

[Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat (Feisty, Gutsy)

2009-06-02 Thread Jason Straight (LeeJunFan)
I added a bug report of my own a while ago, I didn't think with some of
the explanations here that my issue was the exact same bug, but its hard
to tell with so many people reporting.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-
evdev/+bug/371066

Anyway if it is related, concerning USB this is what I found.

My laptop keyboard is on the USB bus, and has the problem. However if I
plug in an external USB keyboard it works fine.

I've found that depressing 2 keys at the same time doesn't report both
most of the time, and will often result in a runaway 'stuck' key. Also
if I run xev and do the same xev reports a continuous keypress event
with no release when the 'stuck' keys happen.

[Bug 382719] [NEW] [KMS][intel 82Q35]: cannot switch to virtual terminals

[Bug 326061] Re: keyboard freezes

2009-06-02 Thread berdux
I have exactly the same problem.
the problem stops if i exit SCIM.. but closing SCIM is not an option, sometimes
i want to type in japanese

before installing japanese there was no such problem. With other
messengers (pidgin, kmess, emesene, kopete) this does not happen.

[Bug 379302] Re: Open with... does not work with emacs

2009-06-02 Thread Bernhard
Thanks to Peng and GreySim, that finally worked. But I don't quite get
it: I tried adding the desktop files in the main menu and that did NOT
work. You really have to sudo into the /usr/share/applications/ files.
So it really seems to be a bug in the emacs22 package.

2009-06-02 Thread suckertoo

Hans

[Bug 372789] Re: NotifyOSD notifications shouldn't appear when using fullscreen applications

2009-06-02 Thread Julian Lam
Hi Peter,

In my opinion... no, the behaviour should not be changed, since in my
specific example, I could use notifications. I have a dual-head setup.

However, since the majority of users are using one monitor, it is
definitely a close call as to what should be done.

[Bug 382703] Re: Home Folder has 3 different names

2009-06-02 Thread Mat Tomaszewski
I think it should be Home Folder throughout, using the user's name
means that the same functionality has a different name every time. Open
for discussion though.

[Bug 382723] [NEW] upstart support for inotify watching of a directory

2009-06-02 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Public bug reported:

This bug is filed mostly for tracking purposes...

As discussed at UDS, upstart will soon support inotify watching of a
directory.

I will depend on this functionality in the update-motd package. I'm
filing this bug here in the hopes that I'll be notified when this
functionality lands in Ubuntu.

Cheers,
:-Dustin
