[Bug 890781] Re: urlsnarff segfault

2011-12-04 Thread Ohad Lutzky
This is solved in 2.4b1+debian-21.1 (upstream, pangolin). The package is
nearly identical, and urlsnarf is seriously broken in debian-21.
Recommend backporting.

(The bug is that the pcap-file and live-capture logic are reversed, so
running a live-capture looks for a pcap file and crashes, and using a
pcap file tries to do a live capture).

[Bug 519066] Re: Microphone doesn't work on Dell Precision M6500

2011-12-04 Thread Andino Saint Antonin
Yes, I read that. I have had to stick to LTS 10.04 since it is supported for 3
years.
I wouldn't want to risk an otherwise perfectly working installation and end up
re-installing drivers (ie the video card) just to solve the microphone issue. I
would really appreciate if you could re-upload the solution file :)
thanks in advance

Notice how many duplicate bugs there are. Yeah... If Canonical were to
have one goal for v. 12.04. fixing what is perhaps the
oldest legitimate bug in all of Ubuntu should be priority #1, especially
since this is a security flaw.

Hi. If you have fingerprint-gui installed, you'll have to remove it because
it's tied to the previous Ubuntu version.

2011/12/4 Carla Sella 874...@bugs.launchpad.net

I've just upgraded to Precise Pangolin Alpha 1, when I click on install
button to install a program, this goes gray for about 2-3 minutes, password
in never asked for and then the install button becomes available again but
the program has not been installed.
If I try to remove a program the same happens, the remove button goes gray
for 2-3 minutes and then it becomes available again and the program has
 non been unistalled.

[Bug 899960] Re: Trash and search ribbon are fixed and don't consider the theme

2011-12-04 Thread RIVIERE Aurélien
** Description changed:

Nautilus' ribbon for Trash and search are unbearable ! Plus, although
they might be integrated in one theme, the ribbon's color is fixed, set
in the code and do not take care of the GTK theme, so the rendering in
most of the themes is horrible.

[Bug 899999] [NEW] Time count stops at 59:59

2011-12-04 Thread Satchit Bhogle
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric stable 32-bit
Application: gnome-sushi 0.2.0-0ubuntu2

Sushi stops the time count at 59:59 if the video watched exceeds an
hour. This is probably due to its being unable to display more than 4
digits, but I cannot confirm that.

[Bug 893259] Re: Asus Aspire freezes install CDs 11.10 and 12.04

2011-12-04 Thread Matt Cargo
Ciao Fabio,
Thank you for replying. I had meant to update:

Unable to fix the problem, I returned the computer to the store and got an
identical Acer [not Asus] 722-0490. This time I put the battery in before
installing Ubuntu 11.10. It worked. The only problem I have had since is that
it
was freezing while attempting to use the wireless when on battery power. This
I was able to fix, by a method I now can't find again by googling. Some
change in a script that's called when the computer is unplugged.

Which is a long way of saying I can't attach my kern.log or dmesg.

Best,
Matt

I've noticed that printing performed from remote machines (printer shared by

[Bug 873545] Re: No GTK theme applied on login / theme lost after gnome-settings-daemon error.

2011-12-04 Thread mniess
Comment #40 explains and fixes the problem. The clipboard manager
integrated in gnome-settings-daemon doesn't work correctly. When an
application (like Opera or Skype) closes, it tries to get the clipboard
content of those applications and crashes. Knowing this I could
reproduce the crash any time.

Open Skype, copy something, close Skype, crash.

Disabling g-s-d's integrated clipboard-manager stops the crashes. If you
need a clipboard manager you can try popular options like Parcellite or
Diodon.

I'll update title and description with this information.

there is the patch in master git tree (

up critical data because a screen didn't lock.

[Bug 776860] Re: boost thread.hpp does not compile with -std=c++0x (Natty's gcc is not a supported compiler of Natty's boost)

2011-12-04 Thread BaCh
I am running Kubuntu 11.10 and that bug is still present. I see the
importance still set to Undecided.

May I suggest to set it to a quite high level? C++11 is now officially
through, having -std=c++0x or -std=c++11 is getting more and more
common, having GCC fail on BOOST on recent *buntu platforms is not good.

The workaround will work, but many users who just want to ./configure;
make a package will shy off performing the edits (even if they have the
rights).

[Bug 882274] Re: Community engagement is broken

2011-12-04 Thread kikl
Well, I have followed this lively debate and it seems somewhat
unproductive. We users must accept that the design is not going to go
our way. Won't fix is a somewhat hard wording. Maybe something like,
we won't do it, because we do not have the ressources, please do it
yourself or find someone who does it for you - maybe something like that
would have smothered the flames (pun intended).

I find it extremely pleasing that the lead designers actually do talk
with the community. I don't remember any windows designer talking back
to me... So we just can't expect Mark and canonical to cater to each and
everyone's needs.

I would like to say a few words from a user point of view to the two
bugs that were linked to the original bug report.

1. option to configure Unity launcher placement

I really don't know any reason whatsoever, why users can't get used to
the placement of the launcher. So now its on the left hand side instead
of the bottom, so what? Is this impossible to learn? The user testing
performed by Charline Poirier seems to suggest that new users have no
problems adapting to the placement. In my mind this wish is merely
fueled by habituation and nothing else. So in this sense I think Mark
Shuttleworth's reasoning is completely justified. Don't waste any
resources on this. Try to fix the real bugs.

2. What I do miss in Natty ... is the possibility to click on the app.
icon on the Unity launcher bar to minimize all windows of that
application, not only to launch/restore it.

Mark has explained, why he doesn't want to implement this feature. It
would appear inconsistent if the same button would at the same time
display and hide an application. So he thinks that new usability issues
would emerge if this were implemented. Point taken and he is probably
right.

But, in this case one should ask: What does he really want to
accomplish? He wants to display the desktop in a fast and simple way. At
the moment, you either have to minimize all windows - which can be
cumbersome - or use nautilus - somewhat unintuitive - or switch the
workspace - also a little strange. Yes, it can be done, but these are
all workarounds. A fast and intuitive way to display the desktop would
be welcome.

Regards

Kikl

[Bug 900016] [NEW] Empty desktop on 11.10

2011-12-04 Thread David Gradwell
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10 using the normal upgrade mechanism
XRDP fails to work properly.

Login is OK.

Only a blank background is displayed when I connect from Windows 7.

A similar bug was reported in 11.10 beta and appears not to have been
fixed.

I'm running the production version.

I also get the same blank background if I connect from another Ubuntu
machine running Ubuntu 10 using Applcations/Internet/Remote Desktop
Viewer.

Repeatable.

[Bug 868658] Re: glade crashes when trying to edit a GtkTreeview

2011-12-04 Thread Javier Jardón
As you can read in the upstream report, this is a bug in GTK+ (already
fixed), not glade. So update to the latest stable GTK+ version (3.2.2)
to fix this..

[Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions

2011-12-04 Thread Favux
Thank you Alexia.

As I understand it this is a workaround for the bug which would enable
Gimp to work in Oneiric and has a very low chance of causing regressions
in Gimp. All Ubuntu would need to do is add this patch to their Gimp
package to disable the history buffer and release it as an update.

I quickly slapped your link into a patch form so that Launchpad janitor
would be aware a patch has been submitted. It is untested and Ubuntu
packagers should follow your link to actually obtain the patch.

** Patch added: app- Disable-history-buffer-via-use-of-gimprc-option.patch

[Bug 865001] Re: [regression] sharing a network with other computers no longer works in oneiric

2011-12-04 Thread Andrew Hocker
I'm having the same issue. When I try the workaround, my bridged
connection (via eth0) receives a 169.254.xx.xx address. Verified DHCP
and wireless is not the issue on my network using alternate laptop which
has Vista on it.

[Bug 606272] Re: scrolling with pagedown gets stuck

2011-12-04 Thread Thorsten Hirsch
Here's another one, where scrolling down gets stuck (on page 98):

http://eldiss.uni-
kiel.de/macau/servlets/MCRFileNodeServlet/dissertation_derivate_1687/d1687.pdf;jsessionid=5FB4373623B5C4A7CEE8A195A5FE8EA2

(You have to click on Bestätigung in order to download the PDF file)

Scrolling down does NOT get stuck when using the mouse.
You have to use the page down key to reproduce this bug.

[Bug 899872] Re: if query begins with whitespaces, transaction is unnecessarily started

2011-12-04 Thread Коренберг Марк
I have added:
http://code.google.com/p/pysqlite/issues/detail?id=47

But this project is not python-sqlite project. Python has it's own in-
box sqlite-binding implementation. Python-sqlite is another binding
(used in some ancient tools like yum).

I have sent emails to:
Michael Owens m...@mikesclutter.com, Gerhard H.ring g...@ghaering.de, Joel
Rosdahl j...@debian.org
