[Bug 719563] Re: mountall: fatal error: cannot open /dev/mapper/crypthome_unformatted
Steve, I am willing to accept your reasoning. I just want to mention that in times where other distributions introduce and advertise systemd, any transient errors, which IMHO make upstart *look* unreliable in comparison, should be really easy to analyse/track down at least, i.e clever diagnostics could be an advantage. Again, I can only speculate how many guys gave up on using Ubuntu for reasons like the current problem. Maybe mentioning something in the manual for fstab is a start: (Oneiric) man fstab | grep -B 1 -A 2 UUID | head -5 Instead of giving the device explicitly, one may indicate the (ext2 or xfs) filesystem that is to be mounted by its UUID or volume label (cf. e2label(8) or xfs_admin(8)), writing LABEL=label or UUID=uuid, e.g., `LABEL=Boot' or `UUID=3e6be9de-8139-11d1-9106-a43f08d823a6'. This will make the system more robust: adding or removing a SCSI disk changes the disk device name but not the filesystem volume label. This encourages the use of labels and/or UUIDs without the slightest hint for possible drawbacks. BTW, is there an explicit reason why especially cryptsetup needs to intermediately hide the device which is typically already successfully unencrypted ? Shouldn't that problem be fixed on a lower level before even the device *node* is created ? I.e. is the crypt dm layer disclosing the device data structure to be too early to the kernel ? Is udev listening on that device node creation ? Maybe there could be improved udev rules ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/719563 Title: mountall: fatal error: cannot open /dev/mapper/crypthome_unformatted To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/719563/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You may open as many nautilus windows as you like, as long as you do it by the unity bar, the focus is lost between nautilus and LibreOffice (no title, window control or menu bar related to LibreOffice either, when you get to that situation, plus you cannot display the LibreOffice window again by clicking the icon since the bar thinks the window is already in focus: so focus seems kind of lost...) [Bug 987364] Re: Broadcom 43225 wireless not working on lubuntu 12.04
I'm sorry I should have explained that. See bug #994664, but curiously on my father's system with BCM4312, the output of rfkill list all is like the output reported here and not the one reported there. But then again, bug #990222 shows this bug with BCM4313 too, so this is really a generic Broadcom-related bug. [Bug 993773] Re: Error in RTShaderSystem
Hi, CG is disabled in the OGRE package of Debian (and consequently in Ubuntu, since they take my package directly) to avoid the complications and packaging burdens of nvidia CG libraries being non-free. I also seems that the Debian package nvidia-cg-toolkit is badly outdated and nobody takes care of it, so even if desired, activating it would take some effort and would need to resurrect the nvidia-cg-toolkit package to be useful. So, in summary, I have no intention to enable support for it in the Debian package. Maybe somebody will be interested in modifying the package to include CG support it in Ubuntu, I don't know. It's easy to take the deb-src package and recompile it in your system, if you're interested in CG support. If you have the CG libraries installed and recompile, probably they're even auto-detected and OGRE builds support for it automatically. [Bug 973163] Re: Xorg doesn't detect correct resolution of VGA Panasonic TV
I was able to fix the problem with a workaround: - I know from the TV specifications (and from Lucid settings) that the maximum resolution of one of my Panasonic TV is 1360x756 - I search for the 1360x768 modeline: cvt 1360 768 - I obtain a modeline, wich I add to the TV (VGA1) with xrandr: xrandr --newmode 1360x768_60.00 84.75 1360 1432 1568 1776 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode VGA1 1360x768_60.00 Then, I write a script where I add the modeline, switch off everything, than switch on both the TV and the notebook screen (LVDS1). In my case I place the TV on top, because my Intel graphic board doesn't allow a horizontal resolution larger than 4096. Here's teh script: #1/bin/bash xrandr --newmode 1360x768_60.00 84.75 1360 1432 1568 1776 768 771 781 798 -hsync +vsync xrandr --addmode VGA1 1360x768_60.00 xrandr --output VGA1 --off xrandr --output LVDS1 --off xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1360x768_60.00 --pos 0x0 --output LVDS1 --mode 1024x600 --pos 0x768 When I launch this script I have a correct resolution on both my screens. Obvioulsy, I make a different script for the other Panasonic TV too (which has a different maximum resolution). Tested only with an Intel graphic card. [Bug 995050] [NEW] .odb files associated with file-roller instead of LO Base
Public bug reported: When clicking to open .odb files, say in the Dash or from Nautilus, they are opened in file-roller, which then complains it doesn't know how to open them anyway.
