[Bug 1421009] Re: unity8 sometimes hangs on boot

2015-03-25 Thread Timo Jyrinki
I ran some Autopilot testing last night and continuing a bit now . The
two new patches do not fix the AP problems. As examples:

- Archive image (#145):
* UITK: 1-2 AP failures
* webbrowser-app: 1-2 AP failures
* calculator: 0 AP failures
* ubuntu-system-settings: 0 AP failures

- Image (#147) added with silo 018 (qtbase DBus patches)
* UITK: 7-8 failures (similar to earlier #145 + previous qtbase DBus fix build)
* webbrowser-app: 5-7 failures
* calculator: 2 failures
* ubuntu-system-settings: 16 AP failures (only 1 run done)

Details at
http://people.canonical.com/~tjyrinki/qt5/fail/qtbase_ubuntu5/

Even if the qtbase patches themselves would be correct and functioning
well and they just happen to make Autopilot break, we can't let
Autopilot regress so badly. Either there should be something more done
to Qt or an Autopilot landing fixing the issues should be put to the
same silo.

As for libusermetrics, the diff for its landing in #106 is at
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/198152771/libusermetrics_1.1.1%2B14.10.20141020-0ubuntu1_1.1.1%2B15.04.20150219-0ubuntu1.diff.gz

[Bug 1435695] Re: [systemd] [microcode] latest intel-microcode not loaded

2015-03-25 Thread dino99
Thanks for explanation
but the journalctl log is confusing and may catch also some more users attention

At least that iucode-tool package changelog might explain that the
'date' and 'rev' shown in the journalctl log is the most recent revision
available for that cpu model

[Bug 1435509] Re: cciss: hangs in modprobe, prevents server from booting

2015-03-25 Thread Marius Gedminas
** Description changed:

  I've upgraded an Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server to 12.04 LTS. It now fails to
  boot. More specifically, kernel 3.2.0-77 hangs in the cciss driver
  during initialization.

  The hardware is an HP ProLiant DL385 G2. The RAID controller is HP
- Smart Array P400:
+ Smart Array P600:

  lspci -knn -s 06:01
  06:01.0 RAID bus controller [0104]: Hewlett-Packard Company Smart Array
P600 [103c:3220]
   Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company 3 Gb/s SAS RAID [103c:3225]
   Kernel driver in use: cciss
   Kernel modules: cciss

  I can observe the boot process over serial console (attached:
serial-console.log). You can see the kernel messages about cciss being
detected, udev messages about modprobe timing out followed by boot process
timeouts and a failure to mount the root filesystem.
  You can also see hung task messages from the kernel (kworker/0:2 and modprobe
are both hung inside cciss), and you can see some of my futile attempts to look
around in the initramfs.

  I can boot an older kernel (2.6.32-73-server, left over from Ubuntu
  10.04 LTS) just fine. I'm afraid dmesg and other bits of information
  collected by apport for this bug report will be misleadingly from that
  older kernel.

[Bug 1436207] [NEW] firefox stops reading syspref.js after encountering non-existent setting

2015-03-25 Thread Jan Groenewald
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04 up to date 64bit, firefox 36

We had a non-existent setting in /etc/firefox/syspref.js. Firefox
ignored the rest of the file until we commented it out. This is probably
a bug. (FYI, this is a computer lab environment with network filesystem
and disk space quotas.)

// Mandatory settings
lockPref(browser.cache.disk.capacity, 0);
//lockpref(browser.cache.disk.smart_size_cached_value, 0); // non-existent
settings cause firefox to stop reading the rest of this file zomgwtfbbq
lockPref(browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled, false);
lockPref(browser.cache.disk.enable, false);
lockPref(browser.cache.offline.enable, false);
lockPref(privacy.clearOnShutdown.cache, true);

Better behaviour might be to ignore that line but continue reading the
file, or to throw a tantrum^H^H^H^H^Herror.

[Bug 1436211] [NEW] Remove GTK3 from phone images

2015-03-25 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Public bug reported:

This is a wishlist bug to eventually remove GTK3 from Ubuntu Phone
images to save some space.

-- gnome-control-center-signon --
Since libaccount-plugin-1.0-0 is included on Ubuntu Phone images, would it be
possible to refactor it so that it would not depend on GTK3 bringing it on the
images?

-- address-book-service --
address-book-service depends on evolution-data-server, which depends on GTK3.
evolution-data-server further depends on libgweather-3-6 and libgcr-ui-3-1
which both directly depend on GTK3 too.

Would it be possible to work with libfolks-eds25 and other libraries
alone? Or would it be possible to modify evolution-data-server building
to not depend on GTK3 since we're not using the toolkit anyway?

-- themes (unity-asset-pool, adwaita-icon-theme...) --

humanity-icon-theme, ubuntu-mono and unity-asset-pool depend on adwaita-
icon-theme. adwaita-icon-theme directly depends on GTK3.

-- ubuntu-system-settings --

ubuntu-system-settings depends on libtimezonemap1 which directly depends
on GTK3. Maybe the library could be made not to depend on GTK3?

2015-03-25 Thread Sergi
I've tried making a config file but it didn't work.
I hope this will be fixed/added soon becasue 9/10 of the time im in a building
with peap. And in my opinion a smartphone is kind of useless without internet.

note about #3 above

it is not the package's 'changelog' indeed, but its 'description' that
needs to be more detailed.

[Bug 1436203] [NEW] [Dash] unity8-dash crashed with SIGABRT in QMessageLogger::fatal()

2015-03-25 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Public bug reported:

Testing unity8 on a Lenovo IdeaPad s10-3t. The welcome wizard completed
successfully. Unity8 loads, the indicators are visible and working.
However, nothing else works: the scope shell doesn't load, only the splash
screen is shown with the progress indicator spinning, and you can see that
periodically it's restarted. Upstart logs for unity8-shell show an infinite
loop of these:

[Bug 1432843] Re: Lubuntu failed to boot

2015-03-25 Thread Henk Terhell
I tried version 20150324.1 of i386 last night and again this failed to install.
I was able to install amd64 version of 20150324 on another PC but after
installation loading takes 2 minutes until login menu appears. In recovery
mode it shows: a start up job is running for dev-disk.

[Bug 1436208] [NEW] jardetector does not handle filenames with spaces

2015-03-25 Thread Dima Ryazanov
Public bug reported:

jardetector is missing quotes around $1:

  jar tf $1 META-INF/MANIFEST.MF | grep META-INF/MANIFEST.MF /dev/null

That causes it to throw an exception if the filename contains spaces.

(Also, shouldn't jardetector return an exit code? I'm not sure if it
actually does anything useful.)

So it is some sort of networking issue.

[Bug 1412367] Re: Show SSS results as they arrive

2015-03-25 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
** Branch unlinked: lp:~marcustomlinson/net-cpp/on_data_handler

** Branch unlinked: lp:~marcustomlinson/unity-scopes-api/lp-1412367

** Branch linked: lp:~thomas-voss/net-cpp/add-streaming

** Description changed:

  (This is a regression of Bug #1359177)

  Now that unity-scopes-api has switched to using net-cpp in place of
  QNetwork (Bug #1409995), we are back to waiting on all results to be
  returned from the SSS before displaying them in a smart scope (This is a
  limitation on net-cpp at the moment).
-
- net-cpp is in the process of being updated to allow us to process
- chunked data responses from a server (lp:~marcustomlinson/net-
- cpp/on_data_handler) but unfortunately this change breaks the net-cpp
- ABI, so we are unable to land such a change at this time.
-
- This should be dealt with as soon as we are able to handle an ABI
- breaking update.

[Bug 1436215] [NEW] Separate GTK2 dependency from libqt5gui5

2015-03-25 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Public bug reported:

Doing this would save at least 5MB of space on Ubuntu Phone images in
case nothing else depends on GTK2. Obviously also desktop users using
only Qt applications would not need to install GTK2.

** Affects: qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu)

[Bug 356152] Re: update-manager doesn't show updates, even after 1 week

2015-03-25 Thread Matthew Paul Thomas
This bug report was closed without explanation, branch link, or package
changelog, so I think that was a mistake.

ubuntu-tester, if you turn off automatic installation of security
updates, do you then start being notified of security+non-security
updates? If so, you have indeed identified a logic bug.

From the launchpad bug report:

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 32bit with Gnome, but XFCE environment is also
installed and it's the main environment I use.
The machine is remote, so I use it via VNC with resumable sessions.
The desktop icons (Home, Filesystem, Devices, Floppy, etc.) are unmovable via a
VNC session. Sometimes when I turn on an external USB device, it's icon appears
in the middle of the pack, changing position of other icons. Once the device is
turned off, the icons stay shifted down. (But this is another bug) After such
an event, I cann ot put the icons back to their usual place.
(But this isn't caused by the USB device. The icons are unmovable in general,
regardless of the USB thing, that was just an example.)
The icon gets highlighted, the hand cursor appears, the icon moves when
dragging it, but the usual rectangular position marker (where it can be
dropped) doesn't appear. After releasing the mouse button, the icon flies back
to its position.
When logging in physically, to the same environment, the icons are moveable.

xfwm compositing is enabled on :0, but not on the VNC display. as
vnc4server doesn't support glx.

I logged in locally, turned off compositing, logged off, then logged in
via VNC, but the icons are still unmovable.

Ideally, this should either be a hyperlink or if not, something which is
