[Bug 1253155] Re: Failure to validate module signature at boot time
This is also happening with the latest supported kernel on 14.04 LTS. [Bug 1261369]
Changed F10 to Alt_L in http://git.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/commit/?id=9283ed8fd5ff7c7cf7a089a528e26784a3a04eca This seems to be standard in other apps, and it makes more sense because Alt+key is usually used for menu mnemonics (which still works). Many users do not know about F10 nor will they remember Ctrl+M, so if they play with hiding the menu bar or trigger it accidentally, then they might not have an idea how to restore it, which is great for support people. I will document this better later on the thunar wiki page. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1261369 Title: No GUI way to enable menubar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thunar/+bug/1261369/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1261369]
After some more testing, I found unfortunately there is a problem with the patch and I will need to revert it. When the menubar is hidden, shortcuts with the Alt modifier (like Alt + Left, Alt + Right) will perform their action correctly but toggle the menubar too, and it is not simple to prevent this, ruining the experience for users that like the menubar hidden. Changes in various places would be required to accomplish this, which makes it more complicated. I will think about a proper solution later.

[Bug 1455874] [NEW] Xorg freeze
Public bug reported: Installation of 15.04 in addition to 14.10 ok. Start by BIOS start menue ok. All worked fine. Then I wanted to add some lines to the fstab to mount ntfs partitions. [Bug 1455924] [NEW] libusb occasionally hungs after suspend/resume
Public bug reported: I'm trying to make g15daemon correctly recover after suspend/resume and found that it occasionally hungs after resume in libusb's usb_urb_transfer() (linux.c) on this line: ioctl(dev-fd, IOCTL_USB_REAPURB, context); After some research I found that linux kernel internally has lists of pending and completed requests. All requests - successful or not - are moved from pending list to completed list, no requests should be lost. But it looks like after suspend/resume some request may be lost (may be a kernel bug). It that case IOCTL_USB_REAPURB would hung forever since request it's waiting for will never appear on completed list. There is simple workaround. After preceding IOCTL_USB_DISCARDURB call our request is guaranteed to be completed, so there is no need to use blocking IOCTL_USB_DISCARDURB, we may use non-blocking IOCTL_USB_REAPURBNDELAY instead. I've attached path for this workaround. It also fixes race condition existed in original code, which may cause corruption of stack. [Bug 1454160] Re: External monitor is disabled after resume
** Summary changed: - External monitor is disabled after resume (only on 15.04) + External monitor is disabled after resume ** Description changed: I have an external screen connected to my machine (T450s, via docking station) and after resuming from suspend, my external monitor is disabled. After some trial and error I made an interesting observation: The external monitor only stops working if suspend via systemctl suspend, sudo pm-suspend, or via the hotkey on my keyboard (K750). However, this problem does not occur if I suspend via the menu entry in the upper right corner. How is this even possible? [Bug 1454160] Re: External monitor is disabled after resume
After some trial and error it seems like I have to rephrase the initial bug report: If I resume from suspend caused by systemctl suspend, sudo pm-suspend, or via the hotkey on my keyboard (K750), the login screen is only shown on the build-in screen and not on the external monitor. In this case the external monitor remains off and has to be enabled again by pressing super+p multiple times. However, if I resume from suspend caused be the suspend entry in the menu accessible from the upper right corner (hereafter referred to as 'menu suspend'), the login screen is shown on both screens (build-in and external). In this case the external monitor works as intended, even after logging in. If automatic login is enabled, the login screen is never shown after resuming (obviously) and both monitors do work as intended. However, enabling automatic login is not a sufficient work around. I wasn't able to reproduce this observation on an live CD system (tried 14.04, 14.10, 15.04) since those systems always behaved weird after another user with password was added. So, how does 'menu suspend' differ from the other ways mentioned to suspend the system? ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1454160 Title: External monitor is disabled after resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1454160/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I refuse to test this with the latest upstream kernel. That is because the bug happens rarely and the upstream kernel breaks other stuff. Nothing is displayed and the screen remains turned off, including backlights (this is diferent from having backlights on again a blackscreen displayed on screen). I can reproduce the same behaviour by using the pm-suspend command from shell, or clicking suspend to ram into the exit menu. If I boot from the 3.19.0-15 kernel, everything works properly. I tried another kernel picked up from here http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel- ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D following this wiki page https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=showredirect=KernelMainlineBuilds (respectfully the v4.1-rc3-unstable and v4.1-rc2-vivid and I got the same problem each time. [Bug 1455924] Re: libusb occasionally hangs after suspend/resume
** Summary changed: - libusb occasionally hungs after suspend/resume + libusb occasionally hangs after suspend/resume ** Description changed: - I'm trying to make g15daemon correctly recover after suspend/resume and found that it occasionally hungs after resume in libusb's usb_urb_transfer() (linux.c) on this line: + I'm trying to make g15daemon correctly recover after suspend/resume and found that it occasionally hangs after resume in libusb's usb_urb_transfer() (linux.c) on this line: ioctl(dev-fd, IOCTL_USB_REAPURB, context); After some research I found that linux kernel internally has lists of pending and completed requests. All requests - successful or not - are moved from pending list to completed list, no requests should be lost. But it looks like after suspend/resume some request may be lost (may be - a kernel bug). It that case IOCTL_USB_REAPURB would hung forever since + a kernel bug). It that case IOCTL_USB_REAPURB would hang forever since request it's waiting for will never appear on completed list. I've attached patch with this workaround. It also fixes race condition existed in original code, which may cause corruption of stack. [Bug 1377146] Re: [design] [Dialogs] shutdown menu should show icons
Thanks for the suggestion. This would make the buttons in this dialog inconsistent with every other dialog on the system. That isn't *necessarily* a bad thing -- the dialog does something more startling than most other dialogs on the system. But when visual design is used to indicate that, it's typically done by changing the design of the entire dialog (as in Windows, and Unity 7), not just the buttons. Anyway, the particular problem here of distinguishing Restart vs. Power Off we are instead going to solve by removing the Restart button (bug 1436458). ** Changed in: ubuntu-ux Status: Triaged = Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1377146 Title: [design] [Dialogs] shutdown menu should show icons To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ux/+bug/1377146/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1455915] [NEW] Windows keys not working with Logitech G15 keyboard
Public bug reported: Neither Windows key nor Context menu key work on Logitech G15 keyboard (Russian layout). I tried running xev and evtest but neither of these tools output anything when I press these keys (they do produce output when I press other keys). The keys are physically working, I verified that in Windows. Other keys, including the multimedia keys, are working. [Bug 1455917] [NEW] locale-langpack/ includes useless Shavian (en@shaw) files
Public bug reported: 1. adb shell 2. ls /usr/share/locale-langpack/ What you see: The directory listing includes en@shaw. This is the Shavian alphabet, an alternative alphabet for writing English. There is no point in including it on the phone: - The number of people in the world who can read English in the Shavian alphabet, but not in the Latin alphabet, is probably less than 10. - There is no performance, testbed, or regulatory reason (that I know of) to provide it. - For those reasons, it is not selectable anywhere in the UI. - Even if it was, the only translated file included is LC_MESSAGES/atk10.mo, which nobody would see anyway, since Ubuntu Touch has no ATK function at the moment. - Its translation coverage is unlikely to improve, since Launchpad does not allow translation into Shavian, and the Ubuntu Shavian team has not been active for five years. https://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-l10n-en- shaw/ This is not a disk space problem (it's only 24 KB), merely a time problem. Every so often someone will look at /usr/share/locale- langpack/, wonder what on earth en@shaw is, and waste the next few minutes looking it up until they find this bug report. ** Affects: ubuntu-touch-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1455917 Title: locale-langpack/ includes useless Shavian (en@shaw) files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-touch-meta/+bug/1455917/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1455921] [NEW] nginx fails to start during boot or upgrade with hostnames in 'listen' or 'upstream' bind commands.
Public bug reported: When upgrading nginx packages or booting with nginx configurations that use `listen` statements or other types of bind locations such as these, nginx sometimes fails to start because it cannot resolve the hostname: upstream { server http://someserver; } server { listen myhostname:80; # [...] } This can prevent package upgrades from working, and can prevent nginx from loading at boot time. - Bug reporter notes: This issue has shown up numerous times both in Ubuntu and Debian bugs and is consistently an issue on package updates/upgrades. While we don't have any bugs as such filed here at the current time that clearly meet this case, it is known that this does cause some of the package update/upgrade/install bugs if configurations matching this format exist in the configurations directories. ** Affects: nginx (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nginx in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1455921 Title: nginx fails to start during boot or upgrade with hostnames in 'listen' or 'upstream' bind commands.
