The bug is because the build is older than 10 weeks:

Could we perhaps just get the same build packaged again?

[Bug 1519331] Re: Postfix cannot resolve DNS if network was unavailable when it was started, such as on a laptop

2016-11-13 Thread Scott Kitterman
In the postfix service file (/lib/systemd/system/postfix.service), if
you change:

After=network.target

to:

Requires=network-online.target
After=network-online.target

does that solve your problem?

Note: this is not a general solution as it breaks setups that only
interface with localhost.

[Bug 1640805] Re: SSSD authentication fails after upgrade to 1.11.8-0ubuntu0.2

2016-11-13 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
** Description changed:

- During the first half of September, the Ubuntu sssd package has been
- updated from 1.11.5-1ubuntu3 to 1.11.8-0ubuntu0.2. We use sssd for
- authentication on a few dev servers and all our Ubuntu workstations.
- After the first systems began upgrading we noticed people are no longer
- able to login. Using the ui you're simply redirected to the login
- screen. With ssh the connection is closed right away:
+ [Impact]
+
+ * sssd authentication fails if only allow rules are used and
+simple_allow_groups is set but group verification fails.
+
+ * That is a regression to the status before the last SRU update.
+
+ * The fix is a backport of the upstream fix for
+https://fedorahosted.org/sssd/ticket/2519
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Set up sssd (can be quite complex) with only allow rules and
+simple_allow_rules config being set.
+
+ * Then authenticate a user/group combo where the group verification
+ fails
+
+ * This should succeed, but does no more since last update
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Since this is a backport of a single fix, but lacks the other changes
+that got upstream in-between there is the chance we missed in
+code-review that there is more context needed to be backported that
+could now cause other authentication issues.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * Setup is so complex we likely have to rely on the reporter for
+verification.
+
+ * Reporter tested with various config options for his issue - it would be
+kind if he could do so as well for the proposed verification.

from 1.11.5-1ubuntu3 to 1.11.8-0ubuntu0.2. We use sssd for authentication on a
few dev servers and all our Ubuntu workstations. After the first systems began
upgrading we noticed people are no longer able to login. Using the ui you're
simply redirected to the login screen. With ssh the connection is closed right
away:

  $ ssh username@nv-hostname04
- username@nv-hostname04's password:
+ username@nv-hostname04's password:
  Connection closed by x.x.x.244

In the auth log we can see the following:

  Nov 9 09:33:10 nv-hostname04 sshd[5397]: pam_unix(sshd:auth): authentication
failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=ssh ruser= rhost=x.x.x.250 user=username

Nov 9 09:33:10 nv-hostname04 sshd[5397]: fatal: Access denied for user
username by PAM account configuration [preauth]

Once I have downgraded the packages to the previous version everything
  works fine again:

  apt-get install -y --force-yes sssd=1.11.5-1ubuntu3
sssd-common=1.11.5-1ubuntu3 sssd-ad=1.11.5-1ubuntu3 sssd-ipa=1.11.5-1ubuntu3
sssd-krb5=1.11.5-1ubuntu3 sssd-ldap=1.11.5-1ubuntu3 sssd-proxy=1.11.5-1ubuntu3
python-sss=1.11.5-1ubuntu3 libsss-idmap0=1.11.5-1ubuntu3

sssd-krb5-common=1.11.5-1ubuntu3 libipa-hbac0=1.11.5-1ubuntu3
sssd-ad-common=1.11.5-1ubuntu3 sssd-krb5-common=1.11.5-1ubuntu3
libsss-idmap0=1.11.5-1ubuntu3 sssd-krb5-common=1.11.5-1ubuntu3
echo 'sssd hold' | dpkg --set-selections

I started enabling sssd debug logs, starting from 3 up to 7. It seems
the problem is directly related to the fact that sssd cannot resolve the
name of a few groups. The users are part of different mailing lists
which we don't want listed on our Linux pcs.

  (Wed Nov 9 09:33:10 2016) [sssd[be[ads.domain.com]]]

  (Wed Nov 9 09:33:10 2016) [sssd[be[ads.domain.com]]]
[simple_access_check_done] (0x0040): Could not collect groups of user username

I also noticed this is directly related to the simple_allow_groups
module that we use to allow login for specific groups. Here's what I
have tried and confirmed it fixes the issue:

  1. comment out the line "simple_allow_groups = ", restart sssd =>
authentication works
  2. change the "ldap_group_search_base" to include all un-resolvable groups,
restart sssd => authentication works.

For the sake of testing, I used the sssd/updates ppa to install version
1.12.5-1~trusty1 of the sssd. I can confirm in this version everything
  works as expected. So basically:

  broken: 1.11.8-0ubuntu0.2
  good: 1.11.5-1ubuntu3
  good: 1.12.5-1~trusty1

I looked at the upstream merges Ubuntu has done for 1.11.8, there are
around 5-6 changes but I cannot figure out which one introduced the

[Bug 1641499] [NEW] debugging pydb prevents ddd from closing

2016-11-13 Thread themusicgod1
Public bug reported:

1) Run ddd to debug pydb
2) Attempt to leave ddd by clicking on 'x'.
3) This fails(you can quit any time, but you can 'never' leave), but it seems
to leave the debugged pydb program.

This is ok if you run only one pydb deep. But if you're trying to debug
pydb...having what happens to ddd happen to the bottom level pydb
doesn't seem to be a very good thing. For the moment, this is a
difference between ddd running on pydb and virtually any other program,
and it's behaviour that you would probably not expect. I would argue
this is a (minor) bug, since it is not so consistent with what you would
expect with other programs, in that there does not appear to be enough
of a boundary between the debugging environment and the debugged
environment.

It seems that Ubuntu shuts down serial connections as well before the
killpower command is issued to the UPS.

I have 4 different UPS at work with serial connections that also stopped
shutting down and after update to 16.04.

How can I help with resolving the problem?

[Bug 1641480] [NEW] Targeting failure (recorded core image) - Falha de segmentação (imagem do núcleo gravada)

When I perform any action in the window manager, it closes without any
explanation. I decided to report this error because when I renamed some
files, when I typed "Enter" to rename it, it closes without any
explanation but renames the file. Then I entered the "Thunar" terminal,
so I can analyze the error exit line if it reports anything. The error
that gave, was this of the summary whose gave in my language, which is
the Portuguese, but I am translating into English, which is the native
language of the developers and easier interpretation. The error he gives
is this one "Targeting failure (recorded core image)" when I see it in
Terminal. I wish I could use Thunar without these interruptions that
just annoys me because every time it closes, I have to open it again.
When I try to do, it does the action and closes out of nowhere. However,
I decided to post this error that he gives so that someone can help me.
Thank you all.

[Bug 1639371] Re: OpenGL Graphics broken on November 4th upgrades

2016-11-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks. Yes indeed package nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 for Ubuntu 14.04
got updated on 4th November so let's focus on that.

As a possible workaround you can download the previous version of that driver
before the November 4th update here:
   https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/8305883

Now assigning the bug to the correct project (I think).

** No longer affects: freecad (Ubuntu)

** No longer affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-367 (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1453812] Re: System freeze when using LibreOffice Writer

2016-11-13 Thread trailingedge
I want to modify the above comment, as I just had similar misbehavior
from my Ubuntu install running a different app, Synaptics.

System froze after a few minutes use of Synaptics (running Ubuntu
16.04): "the only possible action is moving the mouse pointer on the
screen. Impossible to connect to a tty session to kill Xorg."

Again, I did manage to reboot using FN + ALT + SYSRQ + REISUB, same as
above.

[Bug 1641380] Re: chromium-browser: ERR_CERTIFICATE_TRANSPARENCY_REQUIRED for Symantec certs

2016-11-13 Thread bob
Same error for me as well.
The Symantec Class 3 Secure Server CA - G4 is not in the chrome certificate
store.

As a temporary fix, I just saved the cert to disc and imported it into chrome.
You can get it here:
https://knowledge.symantec.com/kb/index?page=content=CROSSLINK=INFO2045
Advanced Settings -> Https/SSL "Manage certificates"

I just hope Symantec hasn't been compromised or something...

[Bug 342096] Re: SD Card containing /home corrupted on resume

2016-11-13 Thread Ivan Garavito
Hi Mat, I had these error when using fat32, so I switched to ext4 on my
sdcard and that solved the filesystem corrupted errors.

On aug 2016, I upgraded to Ubuntu Gnome 16.04, but the problem turned to
the driver, so I found the solution at https://github.com/astyonax
/patched-RTS5227-5229, with some little changes it works again with no
problems, just I have to recompile after each kernel update.

Hope this helps you.

regards,
Ivan Garavito

2016-11-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Absolutely. I was already thinking that but thanks for pointing it out.

Although the implementations may turn out to be directly related we're
keeping separate bugs in case they turn out to not be related, and
because implementing bug 1639226 it seems is more important than
resolving this one by itself (see above comments).

[Bug 1453812] Re: System freeze when using LibreOffice Writer

2016-11-13 Thread trailingedge
Same problem running Ubuntu 16.04 on legacy machine, with nouveau-drivers for
NVidia graphic chipset
on HP laptop. LibreOffice Writer freezes (running version 5.1):

"The only possible action is moving the mouse pointer on the screen.
Impossible to connect to a tty session to kill Xorg."

I did manage to reboot using FN + ALT + SYSRQ + REISUB rather than a
hard reboot being necessary using the power button.

LibreOffice Writer tried to recover my document, but some data was lost,
after reboot and restart of the app.

Kernel: 4.4.0-47-generic

2016-11-13 Thread cltien
Finally I figured out the error seems happened when dealing with fuse,
so I uninstalled fuse and fuse again, it then update all the initrm
packages of each kernel, then I am able to remove old kernels. I think
this is caused that once I installed libfuse from source code, it may
changed the system configuration.

[Bug 1558768] Re: gvfsd-trash causing high CPU-load when try to empty trash with thousands of files

2016-11-13 Thread bb
This persists - big nuisance.
1. Create an empty folder
2. Execute "touch bspl{0001..7000}.c" (simply crates 7000 empty files)
3. Move the files to trash
The system consumed 8GB RAM and 8GB SWAP - heavy usage of CPU - you can monitor
with top
If I am to wait a few min it will resolve and both RAM and SWAP would go down
to 1.5GB
If I want to get out of it somehow - I can killall gvfsd-trash and killall
nautilus
Then go to ~/.local/share/Trash/files$ and empty the content and also
go to ~/.local/share/Trash/info$ and empty the content

I use Darktable (beautiful RAW image manipulation program). Often I have to
delete thousands of files that take a few GB of space. Having a trash is
desirable feature as it gives safety net for few days.
However this behaviour (consuming all the resources of the system) is more than
an inconvenience - it makes the trash unusable.

If somebody knows how to workaround this please advise.

[Bug 1641468] [NEW] systemd-resolve: fallback from resolve causes lookup of local network hosts to fail

2016-11-13 Thread Joseph Yasi
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 16.10 from 16.04, DNS resolution of hosts on
my local network fails.

The hosts line in /etc/nsswitch.conf is:
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] resolve [!UNAVAIL=return]
dns mdns4

If I change it to:
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns mdns4

I can resolve hosts on my local network. Appending .local to the
hostname also allows DNS resolution since systemd-resolve returns a
different error for that case.

Ex:
systemd-resolve rt-ac66u
rt-ac66u: resolve call failed: All attempts to contact name servers or networks
failed

systemd-resolve rt-ac66u.local
rt-ac66u.local: resolve call failed: No appropriate name servers or networks
for name found

"dig rt-ac66u" returns the correct ip.

** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1641467] [NEW] Mouse flickering and disappearing near the top of screen

2016-11-13 Thread Marko
Public bug reported:

So I'm not sure this is an xorg bug, I couldn't figure out what xorg is.
But I recently upgraded to ubuntu 16.10 and started seeing this bug
where my mouse will flicker and disappear when near the top of the
screen. It still works clicking-wise. It also seems to be especially
severe when using Google Chrome, where it completely disappears and
flickers the entire time while mousing over the menu uptions (i.e the
close button, the tabs etc...). However recently I noticed this also
happens when google chrome is off, though it flickers much less.
