[Bug 928496] [NEW] alt+f2 does not find accurately typed things
Public bug reported: in unity doing alt+f2 to run a command offers suggestions, but takes them away if you get them right and there is a longer matching alternative. mumbl offers mumble but mumble offers mumble-overlay onboar offers onboard but onboard offers onboard-settings evinc offers evince, but evince offers evince-previewer so in each case actually typing the command properly means something related but useless launches, preventing good typists who know what they are doing from successfully using unity. [Bug 765819] Re: Launcher - Make Launcher left of screen reveal more responsive and less prone to false positives
Personally I set the unity icon size to 32px and the launcher to never hide, I lose a few horizontal pixels, but it is much easier to use without the launcher popping in and out every time I want to use something on the left side of an application. I am unconvinced that an autohiding launcher is the best default to have, it is on the left because the modern widescreen aspect ratio is in fact a shortscreen and vertical pixels are at a premium, however horizontal pixels are cheap and the launcher is useful to look at even when you don't want to interact with it and launch something or switch to something. Having it permanently visible makes it a lot easier to move the mouse to the icon I want to click rather than move the mouse to bring out the launcher, then look up and down for the icon I want, then move towards it, then bring out the launcher again because it vanished whilst I was using it! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765819 Title: Launcher - Make Launcher left of screen reveal more responsive and less prone to false positives To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/765819/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 762699] Re: Unity launcher and panel are not zoomable with Enhanced Zoom Desktop
The levels of importance have a specific and defined meaning https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance From a user perspective I can see this looks like something that has been broken, but I can also see that from an architectural perspective it is a feature that Nux has never had. Either way it needs fixing, but is a non-trivial architectural problem. I think it might be possible to increase the size of the unity elements as you zoom. [Bug 855532] Re: Add keyboard shortcut hint overlay that is displayed when a user presses and holds the Super key
Keyboard shortcuts are more useful to screen reader users than people who can use a mouse. This feature would be really useful to an orca user, however sadly this use-case does not appear to have been considered in the design, as this shortcut screen is only visible whilst pressing the super key there does not appear to be an opportunity to put focus on the panel and read it. [Bug 855532] Re: Add keyboard shortcut hint overlay that is displayed when a user presses and holds the Super key
Having built the overlay and tested with orca I can confirm that this is broken by design for non-visual users of Ubuntu. You can't navigate to the overlay because it won't accept focus and only displays when the super key is held down, so using the orca modifier keys to attempt to navigate won't work. so you now put the live CD in, and just wait. [Bug 781385] Re: Ubiquity GTK should have useful accessible names set in the Glade .ui files instead of using the variable names
Can we stop doing this now or do automated tests need to run up to release? I would like to have the opportunity to test the installer with the correct sound output so we can document it prior to release, there is no point doing videos of the install process if it is reading out the variable names rather than the text it should say because that would be misleading. I would point out that the only way the LDTP tests work at all is by leveraging the work that has been put into accessibility, so breaking accessibility just to make the testing easier is a bit harsh. Could the tests not use the regular accessible names to find widgets? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/781385 Title: Ubiquity GTK should have useful accessible names set in the Glade .ui files instead of using the variable names To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/781385/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
