[Bug 786729] [NEW] Ubuntu 11.04 - wireless disabled by hardware switch
Public bug reported: Hello all, firstly i'm kinda new to reporting bugs, so please forgive me if I forget to give all the information etc. Secondly, I have a Compaq Persino CQ60 with Atheros 5001 wireless card and when I try to connect to a wireless box, it says wireless disabled by hardware switch. Now I know that Acer and Dell laptops are having the same problem, but they don't seem to have the same wireless chipset as I, so I though it would be best to file a new bug report. I used to use Ubuntu from 9.04 - 10.10 for time to time and the wireless never worked, but looking deeply on the ubuntu website at device support, it said that my chipset worked with 10.10 and 11.04, but in fact it did not. If anyone needs more information, I will give it out :) Thanks ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Ubuntu 11.04 - wireless disabled by hardware button + Ubuntu 11.04 - wireless disabled by hardware switch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786729 Title: Ubuntu 11.04 - wireless disabled by hardware switch -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 295403] Re: Wireless card not detected by Vista after rebooting from Ubuntu session
The wireless is built into the laptop, its a Realtek 8187B. The wireless does always work with Windows Vista, and had no problems with it until Ubuntu. Ubuntu also works perfect with it. I've tried what you asked and it contiunes to happen and Windows Vista still didnt detect it without me playing with the settings in the network manager. I know it isn't really a big deal, but i though you should know just in case someone has a problem with the same wireless card.
