[Bug 947833] [NEW] When copying selection to clipboard in LibreOffice Calc 'X' process begining to eat 100% cpu

2012-03-06 Thread Alexander
Public bug reported:

Step to reproduce:
1) open Calc
2) type something
3) make selection of some cells
4) press Ctrl+C

After this 'X' process begining to eat 100% cpu until Calc application is
being closed.
It looks like that this moving dots around selection (animation which appears
right after Ctrl+C) are causing this behaviour.

Tested on libreoffice-calc 3.4.3, 3.4.4 and 3.4.5. All theese versions are
affected.
Also tested on Write. Write is not affected. Copying to clipboard doesn't
eat cpu.
My config:
- GeForce 7300 GT
- AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+
- 512Mb ram
- Ubuntu 11.10
- 3.0.0-16-generic kernel
- nvidia 295.20 proprietary video driver.

[Bug 947833] Re: When copying selection to clipboard in LibreOffice Calc 'X' process begining to eat 100% cpu

2012-03-06 Thread Alexander
Maybe you have anti-aliasing option disabled in LibreOffice?
Xorg begins to eat cpu immediately right after I've pressed Ctrl+C (copied
something to clipboard in Calc). And continue eating cpu all the time until I
close Calc completely (sometimes Ctrl+Alt+F1-F7 helps - toggling to console and
back).
Everything works fine until I have this copied cells animation displayed in
Calc.
And as I've said earlier with anti-aliasing disabled in Calc - no cpu eating.
Everything begins to work as expected. So this is some kind of anti-alias
problem/bug.
xorg.conf file I've created manually with nvidia configuration utility. Could
this be the problem in xorg.conf? Or in xinerama.
Also LibreOffice draws its interface natively - I neither installed
libreoffice-gtk nor libreoffice-gnome.

Hm... I see that you're using other version of nvidia drivers than I do. Maybe
the problem is in nvidia drivers?
I can't test it right now (the problem is on another computer), maybe from
begining of next week...

[Bug 925785] Re: Starting to scroll is erratic with edge scrolling on touchpad or mouse scrollwheels

2012-03-09 Thread Alexander
If this is supposed to be fixed in Precise already, it is not. The
scroll still responds only randomly, especially it doesn't respond at
all if you press keyboard at the same time. Works perfectly in 11.10.

[Bug 925785] Re: Starting to scroll is erratic with edge scrolling on touchpad or mouse scrollwheels

2012-03-09 Thread Alexander
After little pinning down what's going on, actually the bug I'm
experiencing is in the DGA (libxxf86dga1) library.

Scrolling in the browser works, through any game using DGA for input it
doesn't, then again I experimented with Warsow by adding mouse support
to read it directly from evdev and this didn't have scrolling problems
either. I'll try to pinpoint this down better and and file a new bug.

The thing is, I cannot 'backtrace full' as after running X in gdb,
everything freezes, only a black screen and nothing responds, I always
need to hard-reset with power button. What now?

[Bug 956740] Re: apport doesn't work with non-english locale?

2012-03-20 Thread Alexander
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 840163 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/840163

Спасибо, Владимир!
Я просто пробовал с LANG=en, а не с LANGUAGE и по-этому не срабатывало. С
LANGUAGE=en получилось обойти проблему.
А, баг настолько давний, что, да, я и сам с ним давно столкнулся, но настолько
давно, что уже успел и забыть про него! А тут, вдруг, вот, опять наткнулся. И
вспомнил.

[Bug 953960] [NEW] Mouse scrolling works randomly with games using DGA for mouseinput

2012-03-13 Thread Alexander
Public bug reported:

Here's an interesting problem:

Games like Warsow and QuakeLive (probably all other freebie q-engine-
fps'es like Xonotic, etc too) use DGA by default for mouse input. Albeit
being a bit ancient way already, it's default for all of these games
(in_dgamouse).

The huge problem is, with 12.04 version of X, mouse scroll works
completely randomly through DGA input, and more you press keys from the
keyboard, more the scroll gets stuck. I have development version of
Warsow which supports input through Xinput2, but scrolling doesn't work
correctly through Xinput2 either. Reading input directly from evdev does
not have this problem (or 11.10).

1) Expected: Mouse scroll respons on up/down scrolling.

2) What happens: Mouse scroll doesn't respond at all, respons randomly,
or respons only after you stop pushing keys from the keyboard. It gets
especially bad if you move / press keyboard while trying to scroll -
then it doesn't respond at all. If you let go of movement keys, it takes
around 1-2 seconds before mouse scroll respons again. Stops responding
again on stressing the keyboard input.

3) How to reproduce: Bind next/previous weapon in any quake-derivated
game or *ANY game that uses dgamouse* for input to MWHEELUP/MWHEELDOWN,
press keyboard while doing it (regular in-game movement for example),
and see how mouse scroll stops responding.

This basically breaks every single game I play on Linux.

[Bug 953971] [NEW] Long run time and high cpu usage when trying to determine type of file padded with 'LF'-s

2012-03-13 Thread Alexander
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure that this is actually a bug. Maybe this is normal
behavior?..

Steps to reproduce:

1) create some empty file padded with 'LF's or 'CRLF's only, about 8kb or more
in size
2) $ file test-file-LF

On my machine (AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+) with 32kb test file it
tooks about 45 seconds:

$ time file test-file-LF
test: ASCII text

real0m45.917s
user0m41.903s
sys 0m0.420s

2012-03-13 Thread Alexander
This should be worked on asap and block / delay the 12.04 release
altogether - not being to able to play anything due borked mouse wheel
support is just unacceptable.

Option evBits +1-2
Option keyBits ~272-287
Option relBits ~0-2 ~6 ~8

(ServerLayout having + InputDeviceEvdev Mouse ofc)

Expected result: evdev mouse input..

Got result: X segfaults. The backtrace X is printing looks slightly
suspious as it just goes back to libc!

[Bug 896978] [NEW] cuetag: no DATE and GENRE tags are written to audiofiles

2011-11-27 Thread Alexander
Public bug reported:

In .cue files DATE and GENRE tags are stored as comments (strings begin with
REM ... ).
E.g.:
REM GENRE Heavy Metal
REM DATE 1998
PERFORMER .

So, cuetag when executed, doesn't treat these fields as tags (because of
cue-standard?).
I've made a hack in cuetag...
Now DATE and GENRE tags are supported (only in ogg/flac files).
Maybe this breaks something. I don't know. I've only tested this on .flac files.

Yes, this bug presents on my systems too.

Initially I'd suspected trouble with high PIDs, but no, on some other

2. Create a rectangle.
3. Copy it with CTRL+C
4. Paste the rectangle with CTRL+V
5. Immediately appears a window, asking to install a package

[Bug 775450] [NEW] Corrupting launchbar when changed settings in compizconfig-manager

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

When I change some options (for instance - change effects to using
Wobbly Windows) in compizconfig-manager launchbar in the top of display
will corrupt. I have this bug in VirtualBox and in standalone version.
It will be fixed when display resolutions is changed, for example in
VirtualBox I just resize window of virtualmachine and resolution is
changed automatically by guest addons.

[Bug 776316] [NEW] Resume after suspend to RAM not working in Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) on laptop Lenovo 3000 N200 with PAE linux kernel

2011-05-03 Thread Alexander
Public bug reported:

(sorry for my English)

Problem:
On my laptop (Lenovo 3000 N200, Ubuntu 11.04, PAE kernel:
linux-image-2.6.38-8-generic-pae) not working resume after suspend to RAM.
Suspend work fine.
Resume after suspend not working. The system appears to come back but is
unresponsive: display is turned off, the system can't be pinged or accessed
through the network, and keyboard key CapsLock not light LED (kernel is
hung-up?).

When I booting to usual kernel (linux-image-2.6.38-8-generic) resume after
suspend to RAM working fine.
And on Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) resume after suspend working fine with PAE
kernel.

I made this steps:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume

My battery is good. And I using AC power.
I not using encruption for swap or home partition. Just for ~/Private
directory via tool ecryptfs.

Did the machine break while going to sleep or waking up?
Machine break while waking up.

Is it reproducible?
Yes. It is repeated every time.

Did it work before?
Yes. It is work before, all time in Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick)

Do you end up with flashing Caps Lock light or similar?
No. Caps Lock light not flashing.

I trying suspending from text mode with this steps:
- add to kernel parameters no_console_suspend;
- shut down X-server (servcie gdm stop);
-  Set font: (setfont /usr/share/consolefonts/Uni1-VGA8.psf.gz);
- Making suspend (sudo pm-suspend);
And restore not work with the same problem. No additional messages and other
information was displayed.

I made this steps:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend

resume-trace debugging procedure for finding buggy drivers not helping for
me.
on dmesg displayed only Magic number * but not hash matches lines.
After repeatable attempts, one time I found line:
[0.853200] Magic number: 11:870:490
[0.853249] acpi PNP0F13:00: hash matches
But i can't find module for this device (i8042) in lsmod. May be it is
statically compiled in kernel.
And this message not displayed any time after...

$ dmesg | grep -i  PNP0F13
[0.300332] pnp 00:09: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0f13 (active)

0x60,0x64 irq 1,12

I tried to boot into single mode. And make steps for debugging from text mode
and resume-trace, but it is not help.
I tried to boot with kernel parameter init=/bin/bash and make steps for
debugging from text mode and resume-trace, but it is not help.
I tried to boot with kernel parameter init=/bin/bash and unloading _all_ as
possible modules that showing by lsmod
(lsmod | cut -f1 -d | grep -v Module | while read EACH; do modprobe -vr
$EACH; done)
and make steps for debugging from text mode and resume-trace, but it is not
help.

And hibernate not working too for me.

Only work solution for me - is it not using PAE kernel...

[Bug 776316] Re: Resume after suspend to RAM not working in Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) on laptop Lenovo 3000 N200 with PAE linux kernel

2011-05-03 Thread Alexander
** Description changed:

-
I trying suspending from text mode with this steps:
  - add to kernel parameters no_console_suspend;
  - shut down X-server (servcie gdm stop);
  -  Set font: (setfont /usr/share/consolefonts/Uni1-VGA8.psf.gz);
  - Making suspend (sudo pm-suspend);
And restore not work with the same problem. No additional messages and other
information was displayed.

  I made this steps:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend

resume-trace debugging procedure for finding buggy drivers not helping
for me.
on dmesg displayed only Magic number * but not hash matches lines.
After repeatable attempts, one time I found line:
  [0.853200] Magic number: 11:870:490
  [0.853249] acpi PNP0F13:00: hash matches
But i can't find module for this device (i8042) in lsmod. May be it is
statically compiled in kernel.
And this message not displayed any time after...

- $ dmesg | grep -i PNP0F13
+ $ dmesg | grep -i PNP0F13
[0.300332] pnp 00:09: Plug and Play ACPI device, IDs PNP0f13 (active)

0x60,0x64 irq 1,12

I tried to boot into single mode. And make steps for debugging from text mode
and resume-trace, but it is not help.

[Bug 290473] Re: Poor keyboard support: Macbook Belgian Azerty

2011-04-21 Thread Alexander
Hey!
I have a macbook 5,5 and I've had these problems too, until I realized
something:

The Belgian apple keyboards are exactly the same as the French!!!

When I switch to French Macintosh everything works fine!!
Someone just has to make a copy of the French Macintosh and copy it to Belgian
Macintosh...
Because all the Belgian mac keyboards in there are wrong... or very very old!

Grtz Alex

[Bug 290473] Re: Poor keyboard support: Macbook Belgian Azerty

2011-04-21 Thread Alexander
Oh just realised there isn't even a belgian macintosh keyboard in there...
I was just using Belgian Alternative with macbook selected as keyboard model.

So there is not confusion at all. Someone just needs to copy paste the
french one :p (or link to it or something...)

[Bug 811536] [NEW] suspend breaks if module snd_ctxfi is loaded

2011-07-16 Thread Alexander
Public bug reported:

What I expected to happen: After entering pm-suspend as root, the system
should go into s3 standby/suspend, turning off all lights and fans and
other activities. Pressing the power button in this state should resume
the system.

What happened: When the module snd_ctxfi is loaded and the command pm-
suspend is entered, the monitor is turned off as well as any harddrives
but the fans keep spinning and all lights remain turned on. Furthermore,
the system is unresponsive to any keyboard commands as well as the power
button, thus prohibiting resume. Holding down the power button for five
seconds still turns the system off.

Unloading snd_ctxfi before suspend solves the problem. The module is for
a X-Fi Xtremegamer soundcard.

[Bug 533111] Re: pacpl can't handle double-quote characters in title tags

2011-07-21 Thread Alexander A.
Time sure flies by.

As for #1 (wrong ffmpeg options) the corrections would be:
-metadata title=
instead of
-title
etc.
So the whole line (2064 in /usr/bin/pacpl in 4.0.5) would look like:

return -metadata title=\$tag_name{title}\ -metadata
track=\$tag_name{track}\ -metadata author=\$tag_name{artist}\
-metadata album=\$tag_name{album}\ -metadata
comment=\$tag_name{comment}\ -metadata year=\$tag_name{year}\
-metadata genre=\$tag_name{genre}\;

That at least gets us through the 256 error, but the output files are
still left with empty tags.

[Bug 748994] Re: suspend hibernation not working on dell 1749

2011-08-11 Thread Will Alexander
I have a STudio 1749 and experienced the same problem when moving to
2.6.38 from 2.6.35. My hardware profile is very close to the original
poster's. I too was frustrated with the problem.

However, after enabling the pm_trace functionality, I was able to
identify the offending modules: firewire_core and firewire_ohci. After
rmmod'ing these two I was able to successfully resume from suspend. I
added them to the blacklist and have not had a problem.

One issue I did run into, however, was after resuming the clock was be
10-20 years fast. STill working on a fix for that, but resume is now
functional.

Hope this helps.
