Re: Face Modelling - Edge Loops

Sorry Neil, I didn't understood your text really. But I did a little tututorial
about looping in RS. Here is the link
http://rs-forum.the-final.com/viewtopic.php?f=8t=246 . I think your face model
looks quite clean but to be sure it would be good to see the mesh.

cheers
Boris

  Hi Folks,

Hopefully I can post to the List again.

  http://www.neilcookegraphics.co.nz/9420images/ncWorld/3dw-face-aa.jpg

An attempt at low poly head modelling Ok self crits nail the mirror join
as needing work, and the need to sharpen some of the rounded edging.

I posted to the 3DWorld Crit page and one guy pointed out the nose modelling
and another guy made the note that the corners of the mouth should not be
pointy.

BUT the gold for me was the thing he said to check out Edge Loops
it's probably old stuff to you guys but I'm self-taught and I can
recommend it .. GOOGLE it.

Hi Boris

I didn't understood your text really

Sorry about my poor text Boris. I tend to take shortcuts when I am writing and
this makes it difficult for people.

Many thanks for your Tut link. It covers a modelling trick that I need to know.
Very helpful!! I will be returning to that one many times I think. The manual
has good information here too that I seem to be ready to add to my way of
drawing now.

The Edge Loop reference I found was slightly different. I needed to sketch in
the points/nodes when starting a face.

The one that I found so helpful was

http://e2-productions.com/repository/modules/tutorials/files/Edge%20Loops%20for%20Faces/edge_loops_for_faces.htm

Thank you again

Neil Cooke

Rotation matching, and another question

2009-08-13 Thread Henry Tjernlund
Okay, I have been managing to figure out the position snapping.
(Though I have to keep referring to my notes.) So I can snap a profile
curve (say a circle) to the end of the sweep curve. Now, here is the
next step. I want to match the rotation of the profile curve (again,
say a circle) to the end of the sweep curve/path. I thought I could
select the end point of the sweep path curve and look up its rotation
and copy it over to the circle profile curve. But the only rotation
information I can find is for the entire curve, and not the end point.
Is there another way to match the circle so that it is perfectly
perpendicular to the end of the sweep end point?

Also another curiosity. When I construct a sweep mesh. I can remove
the curves from the mesh level and the mesh does not collapse? Is this
a good idea to do this? What if I want to reuse the same profile curve
on multiple sweep paths? Im not sure how the mesh making mechanism
works and what is a good idea or bad idea on how to use it.
