This means that the static photon map can be computed once and reused many times in successive animation frames very quickly.The first example, a walktrough in the well known sponza atrium scene was rendered this way. Once the time consuming photon map computation was done, rendering took only 20 seconds per frame in a modest dual core computer.A static photon map can also be combined with a dynamically computed GI solution. The second example demonstrates this. The moving item uses the standard GI shader of Realsoft 3D v7, whereas the rest of the scene is illuminated with a static photon map. Qt about OpenGL

hello all. This is not a realsoft specific topic, sorry, but I like and love realsoft 3d. At my school I am working as teacher at the moment with an openGL project. Perhaps somebody can give some infos or links or hints about this question..I am working at an openGL project with (wished!) nicely rounded shapes with openGL :) But there's at the moment no chance to use it. I wanted to use simple primitives with openGL, cube, sphere, torus, cone and on on... but I have noticed all this shapes aren't quite smooth or nicely round shaped. does anybody know why this behaviour is so odd? ;)by one hand I've thought last days that openGL feature for primitives aren't depend at polygon amoung or densitiy for hardware power and gpu power (graphic card accelerators). but I see it is depending at this polygon to cpu/gpu relationship power and dependation. that's true?I liked to use realsoft on my old laptop (five years old!). dear boris, many thanks for your great work at your website last years. I tried 
to make some inputs but two, three years ago (skripts, plugins, rendering and 
vsl stuff) there weren't enough feedback or only by same people. I was sad 
about this behaviour. I wondered why it was so calm at all. It wasn't your task 
to fill the website with content ;) 

Bad and silly things about spammer's and hackers. I didn't now that, thanks for 
this info. Every good 3d graphic software needs a forum. Look for example at 
lightwave or cinema 4d forum (I don't know other forums). they are still alive 
and 3d graphic themes are wide spreaded, I like this one. So I wished to have a 
good realsoft forum back again. it makes a lot of sense in my eyes to create 
realsoft 3d forum. perhaps it's possible to start new topics again with new 
rendering pics or plugins, vsl, texture. would be nice to see some more 
activity at your website again. I wish good luck and make input again.

A big thanks for this words!
Just a few words for my giving up. I'm very sure that my website got 
attacked by hired hackers and spammers of the competiting 3D companies. 
I've connections to other forum leaders who are leading forums of more 
general forums where there aren't any companies involved. They get some 
spamming attacks but that's all. The RS forum got attacked with massive 
spam attacks and even more from real hackers who were able to hijack my 
website so that the provider took off all domains I was owning. I got 
attacked from RS users that it's my job to get rid of this because I get 
paid for this. Boys and girls be sure I spent a lot of money to keep 
this running and didn't got any money at all. That got a full time job 
and I even paid for this. And what did you gave me back: zero entries. I 
asked for topics in several threads. Wow ... your suggestions went into 
zero again.
That's what was your work. Wow!
Also I'm a bit frustrated about the programmers. I asked several times 
for nice skin materials. Timo did the most sophisticated skin materials 
but they were hard to handle with the hardware two years ago. Hair: I 
think I got most out of it with lots of brainwork and very tricky tricks 
but I didn't saw lots of updates on this topic.
Realcloth: don't ask how many unfinished projects are lying on my hd. 
Lots of hours I spend to get the best out of it but the breasts of my 
models are still penetrating the cloth which might be porno but I was 
looking for a nice erotic dance.
Other people like zaug gave their best to put out great things like 
greeblez but that were also stopped at some point because some things 
didnt worked. The heaviest supporters were not supported.
I try to keep that unemotional but if the supporters won't be supported 
they have the right to be frustrated.

rendering and post processing examples without problems. I am using win xp, sp2

I was wondering if anyone else is familiar with this error:
Pointwise object property for unknown channel: SDSFaceUVchn0 (Error: 
r3freng: 404and then a crash.
It sometimes pops up out of the blue when rendering or post processing 
starts, even when I didn't edit any SDS objects.
Any workarounds or ideas?

dont need to do this in a hurry, only look at it when you have time over, 
whenever that might be !

Seems like a nice thing to be able to use them, for custom groups of sliders 
for controlling parts of characters or other anim stuff. (If they are easy 
to setup that is..=)
Especially as you can integrate them where ever you want/need in the RS GUI 
and so on..

(For the textures I'll use nearly the same procedure,
needs then image sequences like image1xxx.end.
I'll give it a try with image+(1000+NUM)+.end)

Only some fiddling with the flip effect left.
Delay while flipping the images.

As you can see, RS needs significant speed
improvements while working with js-scripts.

setup: you must start the script when running realsoft 3d v6: click at menu 
scripts (10th place of menus from left side !) then / toolbars / then 
materials-franko and the vsl shader script will open with buttons, push 
wave and see :)

name of the script plugin: frankolinos-vsl tools. 

I have working out a new VSL Shader Plugin with new shader function called 
wave as a ScriptPlugin. Takes a lot of some minutes to build it, uff :) the 
name of the script myvsl-franko.

but it works and I am very happy! Programming skills have developed since 
quitting here over one year, learned some new stuff with a basic language and 
c++. So I can read this unbelievable strange script language with new eyes and 
more pleasure !

Would be nice to get any feedback, if this vsl-shader works fine on your 
machine. I have tested this vsl-shader WAVE with realsoft 3d V6 demo Version. 
Here it's all ok and you will get a new WAVE material after pushing the button 
Wave at the vsl-shader script.

name of the script: frankolinos-vsl tools. I have used the usual myvsl 
script and add this new WAVE function :D

info: I have saved a txt file too (below: zip file) how and where to place the 
script at realsoft 3d main root. ask, if you don't know how to include this two 
scripts ( a) mainscript: myvsl-franko.js and b) materials-franko.js) you 
need for running the frankolinos-vsl shader script.

 frankly, using Opera. Very hard to read, with text lines overlapping
 
 eachother and different text sizes. Looking at the 'code', I gave up

dear realsoft user, some corrections added here:

...sorry I have forgotten to switch the light on:-) therefore the last scene 
was too dark ;-)

Now the rendering times increase to over 30 minutes... the problem: metaballs 
spheres needs these power to render + gi rendering. 

A new vsl shader (right sphere) mixed with other ones...

black holes:-)

the rendering times of this scene takes ca. 12:35 minutes, quality over speed 
rendering with recursion 6... imagesize 640x480, GI rendering on, only three 
textures (vsl, mixed and common materials) and of course only one 
lightsource...

I have included some metaballs, taken from a realsoft folder as example, very 
interesting stuff! :-) sky material and own ground creation.

I wish VSL would use the more familiar Refraction Index instead of this 
'optical thickness'.

Conversion:
Refraction Index = 1 / (1-optical thickness) or
optical thickness = 1 - 1/refraction index

I found a table with refraction index values for several substances (for 
yellow light):

fluorite: index 1.43  -  thickness 0.3
canada balsam:  1.53  -0.346
salt1.54  -0.351
diamond2.42  -0.587
flint glass (light)  1.51  -0.338
flint glass (heavy)   1.65  -0.394
crown glass (light)  1.51  -0.338
crown glass (heavy)   1.61  -0.379
ice 1.31 -0.237
water 1.33  -   0.248

So, your values are OK.

However, in the test scene I found that there was no total reflection in the 
prism with values around 0.33, so I just increased optical thickness until I 
got it. Never mind theory, it's the picture that counts ;)

Your ice is looking very nice, procedural bump mapping?

One thing that is important with glass and ice scenes is to have 
something in the background to show through (blurred/ distorted). It 
helps the reading of the ice.  The easier thing to do is blur the ice 
area in post processing.

o.k.:-))) how to you build this one? If you have an exercise, please upload it 
here! - My glass/Ice shaders are not perfect, it's a time spending work, but 
the various ways (often complex and not so easy to handle) to the right shaders 
are be worth it!  
I am looking for the right look for my ice cube or soft ice pot!

textures... I will build now a bigger scene with various vsl shaders and 
nurbs objects, perhaps I can create an icecream pot :-)

added picture: ... rendering times: 3:56, image size 640x480, recursion 
depth 4, two different ice shader, glass-textures, mirror texture, having 
built this scene with only one ligth source! ;-) and some nurbs objects.

The ice is getting better and better!
I finally have some time again to pick up fun 3d stuff like this, just 
finished a few hectic weeks of commercial architectural projects...

I remember some talk about Fresnel-shaders... maybe here's an alternative.
A bit of VSL: I usually map channel ray*normal to Reflection directly with a 
Curve object, with horizontal range (ray*normal: the angle between camera 
and surface) from -1 to 1. This way, you don't need the Abs Value and other 
calculations. I even found a table with real angle/reflection values for 
water in an old book (Minnaert, De Natuurkunde van 't vrije veld).

More to follow, I'll upload some shaders if you want.

I attached a test project with the alternative fresnel glass.

The key is the curve. At Ray*normal = 0, you're looking straight at the 
surface, at -1 you look along the surface. At those shearing angles, glass 
(and most smooth surfaces) behaves almost like a mirror! The negative (left) 
side of the curve represents rays entering the glass, the positive side is 
where the rays leave the glass. (correct me if I'm wrong...)


In the project I added a prism to check the renderer's handling of total 
internal reflection, had to increase optical thickness to get it right. For 
ice and water, I think you should use a lower value, like 0.33.

Hope this helps a bit!

the other side you are right it might be a specularity problem and I have to 
finetuning it for my glass textures... I built some new vsl textures with glass 
to become some day an ice structure... I will solve the glass/glass problem 
and send it to here :-) this area of vsl and glassy textures are new for me, 
but I see the possibilities and I like glass, gold, chrome and such shining

I'm sure you have tried this but just in case ... increase the recursion 
level of your render to stop the glass/glass turning dark. Tweak the 
specularity of the glass material in VSL editor to get the degree of 
sharpness and specular brightness you prefer.

Rendering settings are easy enough  see JPG attached.

Activate Preview in VSL Editor to show results when tweaking the 
specularity function.

short answer: the rendering times increases with recursion depth level 6 to 
10:12 minutes (2:03 min before) for my scene... damned;-) but a good result for

OK, if you not want the cylinders hollow, then increase the recursion depth
in the render setting properties. Try a value of 5 or 6. Remember that
increasing the recursion depth increases render times.

Rendering Times...

push it again... short input nearly for 4 or 5 pence? (must laugh!): 

- I have build some test scenes with different materials and some new vsl 
textures In my eyes the rendering times are not very different, when you 
are mixing different materials on xobjects from the material editor (by drag  
drop)... the other side to build complex vsl structures for objects, they 
concluding all material properties...

my renderingtimes of my little test scenes have only a different of a half 
minute (2:35 to 3:05 minutes)...

dear rs friends, a short question: the service pack 1 of rs 3d V6 does appears 
end of this month (april) or the next one? :-) because I have got some strange 
problems with the rs 5.1 version (SP4) during my last weekly works with 
realsoft renderings and javascript buildings I would like to work with a stabil 
version 6:-) with full functionally power:-D

- Next little picture of my little work in progress... glass and watertextures 
with vsl and perhaps some day ice too:-)
The rendering times crease to 4:02 min., four different vsl textures, but the 
aim should be to get it into one vsl texture, if possible...

Question 1) the rendering times will reduce handling with only one vsl 
texture combining all properties?

Question 2) the vsl wizard shows only color, transparency, bump map and 
so on... Why it isn't possible to get all properties in the vsl wizard of the 
objects? Perhaps a tree structure will make sense! ? ;-)

- So you can find perhaps optical thickness and refraction and perhaps 
make new entries for the object properties ?

Hi,
very bad news for all Realsoft 3D Image Contest and Forum users. Today my 
provider closed all my websites because they were steadily hacked from 
www.3ddart.org . I got daily about 10 mails from the postnuke system that 
there were attacks www.3ddart.org but there were no patches for the forum 
system (pnphpbb2) which seemed to be the worst concerning security. This is 
now the end of the contest site at least postnuke based. I don't know where 
to take the time to build up something new atm. When the I got my access 
back I'll upload a homepage telling that it's gone. At least I'll install a 
new gallery system at the following weekend hopefully.
Sorry ... don't know what to write else. I'm very sad :°(

Hi Neil:-) Thanks for your friendly fresnel metal shader... must laugh, I have 
got it too in my materials;-) My question aimed into an other direction to 
build a own vsl shader and that was my mistake, sorry, I will find these 
entries I need in the VSL editor, I am sure, so I have build my first glass 
shader from zero knowledge;-) It's not perfect, but I can make it better for 
the future... 

I have created an own glass shader and studied the vsl manual to build it... I 
was only too lazy to create a new one... I will build an Ice shader, thats 
sure! :-))) Perhaps somebody will help? It would be very nice, best regards,

I have done some GI Testrenderings (new stuff for me!) , one of these examples 
are here:-) 

The rendering times for GI Rendering with this little scene takes 2:04 minutes, 
with AO normal effects only 0:06 minutes. I wonder why but I am happy about 
that good result... 
more will come later, I am making some good experiences with it the last days,

Yes, dear Garry, you are right:-) 

It's often time wasting, but three years ago I have had more time to spend with 
realsoft 3d themes and I wanted to build with michael a full functionable hair 
and fur and grass tool, but after a time I have seen it would take a long, 
long to time (one year I am thinking) to build such a tool. We have started 
with the nurbshelper tool from a zero point without any help or other scripts 
they existed before... Who want to pay for a good tool??? Even I would pay for 
a good tool, because I have seen such efforts to build any big script or 
plugin... 

I am missing fluids or something else for a scene, became frustrating it 
doesn' work with basically instruments of realsoft, so I have stopped it, 
waiting for a good idea or any hint of other users (tim borgman has built such 
crazy fluids in his abstract series scenes!), but I have really a time 
problem at the moment to make more scripts or diving deeper in this 
material... - I am believing it's nearly everything possible with realsoft (I 
like this software!), but first of all you must have support with a good idea 
and then, I like to work in a team, not as a solo fighter, it's boring;-)

Yes, I have it in my mind to make a hair tool and perhaps it's possible to 
force the knowledge with other guys here:-) to build such a tool...
Kudas tool I didn't know, sorry... but he has a lot of good ideas, I know:-) 
Realsoft is my little hobby, not a full job! And after spending a break I have 
now two days a week to build something with it to become better and get more 
input for my brain:-)))

Have a nice day, here the rain becomes more and more, uargh... and I have a 
dog, running throuhg the mud over the meadows two times a day..:-D but it's 
necessary, I have a happy dog:-))) / beside that: rendering hairs and fur of 
animals are very interesting stuff, I am curious to see Carlos Plugin, it is 
surely a very intensive work he is doing with the dynatomic plugins and he need 
this time to make it better... But I see, I have not enough time to build any 
new scripts or a hair tool these weeks... sorry...

So many things are possible , but the real question , is how much
time do you have to try and get it close , then to perfect it ?

They call it the Bleeding Edge for a reason .

Got time to waste ? How about writing some more cool
scripts ? We desperately need something that will do
hair and I think your Nurbs Helper Pro is practically
there already . No ?

Wasn't there a similiar thing from K-UDA that had collision
detection built into it ? Or did I see that somewhere else ?

Dear RS friends:-), I have a question according  the java script codes... - 
It's possible to interact between a script and a scene in a directly way? I 
mean: if I have a cube and a sphere or a lightsource and would like to change 
the attributes of the objects so I can see it in a promptly way? 

Sorry.. ;-) next question: It's possible to say in a script something like 
that: find object cube and make anything with it I like... Hey, looking for 
a cube or a sphere or a nurbs... I don't find anything in the scripting 
folder...

Dear Kuda:-) thank you for your example! My exercises have just beginning with 
the animation projects. I have changed a little an example of the rs folder 
(samples, collision) to make jumping the balls;-) and have got the right answer 
I wished:-)...
I haven`t tried it before to work with collision and simulation. So I have to 
learn a lot, I am sure... The capabilities of realsoft and the animation tool 
are very useful. Therefore I haven`t enough time at the moment to proof all 
knowledge about such very interesting part of simulation, animation, I started 
with a simple exercise. Later I will close this chapter with the balls running 
down a slite into water example, so I had it in mind:-)

animation saved).
I didn't run the sim all the way to the end but get the impression that the
movements are unnatural... Yesterday I wasted hours by tweaking the settings
but never got completely rid of weird spinning balls. RS really needs
Dynatomics! Chrono has very fast collision detection but it's rather limited
in that department. (I wonder if I'm the only one who actually bought it!)
Obviously RS had other priorities than the sim system, and I can hardly
blame them...

Maybe you're better off with a simple path animation Frank, I hope you'll
show an animation soon,

Hi dear Mark, very interesting project you have sent, great idea:-) I like such 
things! :-D / Compliment with the diggers (hope it is the right word) and the 
water simulation, I haven't seen the whole animation, cannot render it, I have 
still yet the v6 demo... But I am trying it with a simple scene, perhaps I will 
deform the water material, if the waterballs dropping in it... I see, it's 
nearly impossible to animate a simulation fluid with realsoft basic board 
things;-) realflow, dynatomic? It would be nice, if this tool become ready, 
seem to be a great stuff and a very hard work to build this animation tools for 
carlo:-)... I try it again to build my idea and will show it here... best

Hi matthias, no special idea with the water splash:-) ... I am thinking about 
fluid simulation and metaballs for the water material, but it would be very 
rendering unlike:-) / I have attached a scene with the project idea, bye, Frank

Hi Garry, sorry about that, but I wanted only to update the nurbshelper script 
for the community, I am working with quite other stuffs in my professional 
way;-) / I know the nursbhelper script runs with v5 (tested with various pc's) 
and v6 (the fact is, with no problem to 6.01.04, v 6.01.03 is buggy so juha 
says again...!).. But I know the script runs very well with v6 after the first 
release... the script runs very well with the old V5, I have tested it two 
years ago, you can remember? - The installation is easy. Copy the whole content 
of the *.zip file into the scripting folder, there will be a new folder with 
three files, so you can open the nurbshelper script.js from the menu scripts, 
like all other scripts too:-) The image wasn't the problem, the path only in 
the script, so I have tested it the last week and changed that...

Yes, probably a new RS page or link with the updated nurbshelper script is a

by the way: the window gdi ( I changed the entry from open gl to window gdi) 
fixed my problem of the rendering mistake of my view window, many thanks:-)))

a short reply... (must laugh)... the nursbhelper script runs with V5 and V6, I 
know that:-) / it doesn't matter if the name of the script is boris becker or 
nurbshelper or blue sky, it's just a name. In my script I have mentioned the 
exactly name of the path:-) / everything should be ok., although I would like 
to know if there a any bugs for V6 with the nurbshelper... the pathline of my 
machine for my script is nearly equal to your path... see the attached text. / 
the names of any tools are not important, just if you want to load exactly the 
file with the right name (save or load)... / 
nurbshelper 1.61 is only the hint to the adapted version to V6... the document 
(html) is an old one, correctly, but it should be only a info for my 
nurbshelper script...

  I see you posted on the RS forum  new version 1.61 , but
the file you posted to the list was 
frankolinos_nurbshelper151_.zip .

  This got me thinking , so I tried your zip file (that won't
run on my V6) , on V5sp3 . I managed to get this working (fin-
ally) and noticed that the toolbar stated it to be 
'Frankolinos NurbsCurve Helper XL 1.61B' .

  In your included Docs you make no mention of 'XL 1.61b' .

  Anyway , here's what I discovered about the annoying jpeg
file problem , as well as the troubles I encountered with
this latest version to run .

  Let's start with the zip file .

1) It needs to be named correctly .
2) It needs an update on the html file (it's 2 years old)
3) The docs need to mention your ... ... _Pro_151_Helix.js
4) When you unzip it , it creates a folder 
  /frankolinos_nurbshelper151_ . Inside THIS folder is the
  actual folder that a user will need to place in their
  RS/Scripting Folder in order for your script to run .

  Notice that the 2 folder names are just slightly diff-
erent so as to suck the life out of someone ? In short
you need to eliminate the first folder in the zip file .

  That brings us to the matter of your script's place of
residence on our hard drive . V1.61B will not run unless
the jpeg file resides in ...

:\RS\scripting\frankolinos_nurbshelper151\

 The folder _Must_ be named as such , and it must include
the .jpeg file there , and only there . Any deviation will
result in an error message .

  However , on my system , I was able to get the script to
run if I placed the script in the :\rs\scripting folder ,
as long as I ran another java script file first (and the
jpeg file was where it needs to be) . No idea why that
is happening , and maybe it's just my setup (not sure) .

  Now it's time to mention your previous script ...
Frankolinos Nurbs Curve  Helix Helper Pro V1.51 .

  The jpeg MUST be in :\RS\scripting\ , or else it will
cause problems . You can move the script to it's own
folder and it _Might_ run, but don't move the jpeg .

  These are great scripts that can and have caused a lot
of hair pulling and cold sweats , simply because of a
few tiny little errors . Once again , it is very important
to do all the little things correctly , such as ...

- Name the zip file correctly 
- Update the Docs with each version release
- Notify the user about the jpeg hazard
- get others to test it out first , as well as yourself

  I haven't tested the actual functionality of this script
so maybe someone else can take the baton and run with it
for a while ?

Same thing. Can't even get to debugging as the error message appears at the
moment the script is activated.
Frankolino's nurbshelper is suffering from the same problem.

dear garry again... :-) you must load the frankolinos_nurbshelper152.js script 
from the opened folder... it does function as well, so I have tried it from 
various machines... 
Realsoft3D_32\scripting\frankolinos_nurbshelper151\frankolinos...*.js (this 
script you must open!!! :-))) so I am thinking it will run, I have tested it 
for V5 and V6, it works! I am sure...Perhaps you can make a screenshot of your 
scripting folder I can help you... so now I am finishing my work here:-) bye,

 Sorry , it will not load in V6 . Getting the .jpeg error message .
Exactly which folder does the .jpeg file have to be in ? I have it
in the

D:\Program Files\Realsoft3D_32\scripting\frankolinos_nurbshelper151
D:\Program Files\Realsoft3D_32\scripting

  and the script will not load .

  May I make a suggestion , since this jpeg file has caused so much
trouble in the past for users , and still is now ? Remove the jpeg .

  Then again , maybe the demo that you are running has the java
bug fixed and it is not the problem of your script at all . Who
knows ?

Dear Kuda, sorry, but I haven't found the last two days any example with the 
rotations of the SetMatrixRotate method. But there was no much time to look 
after such solutions. Perhaps juha or another programming guy here in the forum

Set starting nurbscurves or points you can find the code in the nurbs curves 
reference of realsoft, I can remember. perhaps you can get/set the axis 
rotation of the curves and manipulate them, no idea. to set the nurbscurves to 
0 in the origin may be no problem. To put the object handle to the point 0, 
there is perhaps a possibility with the HPB method (head, pitching, banking) 
to change the axis of the xobjects ??? Try this way ;-) have a good weekend, if

I am creating a curve by the SETPOINT method now.
But, the object handle is left in the origin.
I wish to put the object handle to the point0 of the curve.
I created the curve in the origin first.
And I translated the curve by the SetMatrixTranslate method.
It succeeded.
But,I could not rotate the curve in a normal direction by the SetMatrixRotate 
method.

with the nurbscurve arranging?

I have made a little picture about my first test with a sds cube and two nurbs 
curves areas. Perhaps I can help ;-) if I understand closer the problem...

Last week I have found an C++ example for a calculator machine, I would like 
to transform it to realsoft for a java script example. I know there is a little

Have a break - Good bye for one year or more for my cr iminal novel project

Dear realsoft users, I will make a big break for one year or more. Thank you 
all for all the inputs and kindly answers according to realsoft themes. I have 
learned a lot about realsoft and 3d graphic, so I can use it some day for my 
film projects (connecting both worlds like lord of the rings or ice age or 
CSI... ;-)))  have written the last two years a big detectiv criminal story 
(thriller, fantasy and fairy tale) and have to publish in the next weeks. Now I 
am making advertising for myself (www.schoenberger-krimis.de, but only in 
german, sorry), the next days I will start a reading about my novel, need to 
get more connections to a big publishing house here in germany... the criminal 
story calls Verliebtes Killerherz (Murderheart fell in love or something in 
this way) I am planing a serial ;-) for three, four novels. All best luck for 
the realsoft users and become the best 3d application on the 3d market 
worldwide! I love realsoft and have it in my heart :-)))

Thanks a lot to juha and vesa, they are working very hard and close to all the 
user here in the forum. I give you here my big respect! :-)

But why it's for free What policy and software politics does DAZ (and many other picture manipulation tools too) are doing with this special offer? - My suggestion and opinion for the next years: the 2d/3d software becomes more and more for free, no one will pay for it, but use very likely the whole features and power of such a big software tool. More and more big companies will die after such dumping price attacks... the open source policy of a great amount of people has not only good sides I believe. ;-)Nevertheless: Thank you for the link. textur map problem with a sharp edge with sphere

dear rs friends, I have tried to mix some textures (texture map/environment map) for a sphere and some sds capsules (a kind of water textures), but I have got always this sharp edge in the middle of the sphere (I haveimported a sky.jpg) as texture. I guess its a question of using the uv maps or the uv coordinates to avoid this. I never used it before. Does anybody knows how to make a "round" texture for the sphere? Dear Realsoft friends and specially greetings to Francois le Febvre from Marseille (?) and good old Tour de France Country! I love it!, sorry that you haven't won the soccer cup!!! I am be glad to hear about my troubles from a lightwave fan! Do you want to change to realsoft some day? So you can help me with my scripts and ideas! that's life with scripting or programming code lines isn't so easy, if you a) haven't time enough and b) without a serious learning course I have noticed the last month. Only learning by doing, this can help, but I have every week new questions and it would be easier to have a teacher in this special case to fix very fast my problems (there are at the moment only three or four). My colour xObjects Plugin is 90 per cent ready. I have two, three crashes with the scripts because of lot of trash (this is my task to fix it for the big issue of the colour script, then with a new "tabbed" switch menu and new functions!) in the script I have to delete it the next days. I don't know Pearl or Lua, it's not my idea to learn this one, but I have a lot of fun with _javascript_, although I have never heard it before, since some years the website (hompage) programming became more comfortabler just for beginners with _javascript_, frontpage, dreamwaver and so on... I will publish here the next days the fixed version of my "open beta" for the colour xObjects scripts, it's a pity, if I have the skills to build in all my ideas, it must be a big plugin, but I can wait and learn step by step. I know Lightwave and have heared that the scripts are very powerful, only I haven't enough time beside my "fulljob" to have a closer look for the scripts there (including Maya, Cinema etcpp). I LIKE and LOVE REALSOFT, strange behaviour, but super powerfully tools and you can change here everything with the software you like (buttons, menues, new functions, vsl shaders and a lot of more!). Realsoft doesnt need much RAM or machine power (Mhz), you can work with it on a middle class laptop or older one pentium, so I have bought it some years ago for my old 386 pc (!!!)) The whole learning and skills I have made the last months I can say it's great for understanding the realsoft 3d software at all, I like this one of learning and the users are quite good and very engaged guys!) So, I have made a break at work, more will come later. Hi Matthias, you have had exactly the same problem ;-) It's not a problem of Realsoft, but Lightwave and Realsoft on the same machine, might be impossible. The GUI will be nearly destroyed if you are running both programs or work with it. I wanted to import some *.obj files from Lightwave 8.3 into Realsoft V5, but after that the handles were missing, the dark gui without the beautiful rs gui appears and nothing seems to be like before. It's a problem of the registry, I agree to you, I will proof it today or tomorrow, I will send you a email here, if I have success with it. Otherside I will delete LW 8 and start with the old 7.5 version and try it again to import *.obj files in Realsoft V5. Hi Aidan, short message back to you:) - Good pictures with streetvue! Never tried it before to import/export pictures from realsoft to vue and back. Therefore I have too less experience with these massive polygon files from vue or other landscape software (trees, djungle, water, a mountain with grass and animalsand so on...) I cannot say what is easier to handle, to build everything with one software or to mix several software, if you like natural 3d graphics and rendering pictures. I am thinking it does make sense of course, but I am getting always head attaches, if I must work with three or four software apps :-))I would like to see that realsoft become more and easier to work with other 3d animation software and rendering software, vue and xfrog are some examples, lightwave and cinema, terragain, worlbuilder proare perhaps other possibilities, but I know since I am playing around with _javascript_s and realsoft it's a very hard work to program export or import files! - Respect for the genius work of the vesa brothers, I can only repeat it, realsoft it's a damned good software (better than cinema, lightwave), if you understood the structure of the software deep and the whole power of vsl, modeling, animations and rendering section. problems with startup view windows after *.obj loading

dear realsoft friends, two days ago I have tried to import a *.obj file for realsoft. after that I have this crazy dark startup view window, all objects are black (although there are many objects, lightsource and so on...) until I click them in the select window, the objects will activated and shown in the view window. Picture with this mistake I send it here. Hi all and good news to other guys here including the curious people, they never worked with _javascript_, plugins and all the other strange things, that really function with realsoft 3d v 5.1 Some news about my "colour xObjects" script plugin. I have included new functions, even a calculator try, but I think it will take some days to make it perfect. The function buttons does run, where I have done a number before it, the other functions will be ready with the "full version", I will release first of all a "lite" version of the colour tool script. It's a simple tool, not so cool like the nurbshelper script plugin, but you can play with it and learn a few, if you like it . One picture I send it with this post. Have a nice week and I can only say, _javascript_ is a powerful language, it's for me easier to learn than C++ for example. I have installed WinXP SP 2, than re-installed Realsoft 5.1 SP 2 and nothing happened with the properties windows by double clicking in the select window. I wondered why? ;-) Now I have changed the realsoft startup method to "force to screen" (by the way: what is that? haha..:-)), now realsoft runs as well as I wish. Super. The first time I have had a problem and onother user can solve it at the same time. Dear Vesa and Frank, hi all! :-) Very good to give me thess "tips" so promptly, yes, I learn every day more, haha...:-)). I know that the light points aren't so important and the material can be changed with another simple material or mapping, but it was just an example, I did two weeks ago during working with testing my nurbscurve toolscript :-). - To increase the nurbspoints from 5 to 20! wow, that becomes a new idea, and the render quality to level 2, I didn't know it until today! :-0, that should help a lot, super:-). Rendering Times of 40 minutes (1084x813) or from 9 minutes to 20 secondes, wow!!! again, I must try it with a new pc machine (pentium 4 in some weeks:-). - Many thanks for Helping. Great. - This is the knowledge "background" I can get only by "learning by doing with realsoft", not every day, but two or three times a week. Allthough it won't take hours to complete it's not hard to tell why it does take that amount of time ona P3: there are 3 pointlights and2 distanlights in the scene, all casting shadows! On top of that all objectscast- and recieveshadows and probably most important: allobjects havea reflective material attached to them. I can't find anything wrong, except that you've made yourself anextremely'expensive' scene to render.Some simple tips: try to reduce the amount of lightsources, I'd say 3 should do, it's 6 now including the camera. Use directional lights instead of pointlights. Ask yourself if you really need all those shadows.An environment map can make the reflective materials come out better.Aha, there it is, raytraced to screen at 'reasonable quality', 1084x813 pixels in just under 40 minutes.
