[libreoffice-users] Solver bug
Hello Everybody We are using LibreOffice 4.2.8.2 on Windows 7 We are writing some macros that use NLP solver (com.sun.star.comp.Calc.NLPSolver.DEPSSolverImpl) and we found a bug that is already reported https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=87074#c3 Any suggestion or alternatives to run non linear equation solver? Thanks Regards Fred James Tom Davies Thank you for your reply and your solution ... I shall put that in my notes for the future, as I do this same operation periodically ... but too far apart to trust memory. My original approach was to just copy the whole file and modify as needed ... the problem I have with that is that I do the file copy a few weeks early (for example early in December for a new file that begins in January) ... reason: some December activity actually needs to be recorded in January as well. That leaves me with certain sheets that will need a lot of updating, and just replacing them is so much simpler ... your mileage may vary, of course. Either copy solution (the one I stumbled upon, or the one suggested by Tom) will do what I need quite nicely ... in the case of Tom's solution, I will have to delete an older sheet in the new file, after copying in the newest version (I have tested it), but that shouldn't be a show stopper, eh? The copy process does not allow duplicate names (or overwriting), and so appends a _2 (for example) to the name of the newly inserted sheet. Hi Everyone and Happy New Year, @Rogier: it sounds like you have to start with a clean LibreOffice user profile directory (you can simply rename it with a .old extension ad let LibreOffice generate a new one at the next start). Re: [libreoffice-users] BASIC StrComp and tricky Unicode (Turkish, for example) SOLVED
Zeki, I think that I managed to sort this out! I resorted to reading the source code... The short answer is that the application's language setting determines how the compare is done for a case-insensitive compare! Also, based on what I read in the source code, I figured out how the locale is determined and used. I created a new section in my documentation that shows a few examples and indicates how to change the settings for testing. The actual snippet of code that does this is as follows: LanguageType eLangType = Application::GetSettings().GetLanguageTag().getLanguageType(); pTransliterationWrapper-loadModuleIfNeeded( eLangType ); nRetValue = pTransliterationWrapper-compareString( rStr1, rStr2 ); Yep, it pulls the value from the application language settings, so that if I set that to Turkish for the application, I can test in Turkish. Print StrComp(ı, I, 0) ' compare Turkish dotless i with upper case i Print StrComp(i, I, 0) ' compare lower case i to upper case i returns 0 and 1. If I change back to English US, this evaluates as -1, 0. I will be pushing a change to my web site shortly, complete with updated code examples (in section 7.3 of OOME) and an explanation. Thanks to all for the pointers and thanks to Jim Caughran for the exchange that then had me thinking about this. -- Andrew Pitonyak My Macro Document: http://www.pitonyak.org/AndrewMacro.odt Info: http://www.pitonyak.org/oo.php -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Thanks Regards Fred James There is a quicker way, particularly if you want to copy several sheets... 1) Open both files 2) Go to file to copy from 3) Select the sheet (to copy more than one at the same time, hold Ctrl while clicking each sheet's tab - selected ones change colour, from grey to white for me but that probably varies between systems) 4) Right click on one of the selected tabs and choose Move/Copy Sheet 5) Select Copy action, required file to copy to, and where to place the copies in that file relative to any existing sheets 6) Click OK and you're done. If you really want to copy them one at a time for some reason, you can just repeat those steps, selecting a different sheet each time at step 3. Re: [libreoffice-users] Libre Office version 4.3.5.2 - crashing
Hi :) When renaming or creating a back-up i tend to find it's better to use the date in reverse order, eg .2014-01-02, rather than .old or .backup. Makes it easier to figure out which ones to delete and which to keep. In the past crashes have been due to either; 1. java issues or 2. user profile issues, such as Extensions that don't work in a newer version of LO The easiest one to test for and quickly fix is 2. Also java issues are much less likely now unless you use the internal back-end in Base, sometimes accessibility bridges to screen-readers, some wizards. We could probably help you avoid most of those - for example by migrating to an external back-end in Base. However it's quite likely that you have java switched on even though you don't need it at all. If you do need it then you might need to try out a few versions of java, hopefully just their most recent update might work but it's never certain. Also a 'few' months ago a couple of people seemed to experience crashes that i don't think we ever quite figured out. I think we even started to look into hardware issues. LibreOffice itself is rarely/never the problem but hopefully we can help you find which 3rd party issue is causing the problem. Hopefully it's just one of the Extensions/Add-ons in your User Profile. If the 2015 file is not yet populated, I would simply duplicate the 2014 file, rename the duplicate to 2015 and then delete any extraneous content in the renamed duplicate. If the 2015 file is populated, I would open both files, and, one by one, select the sheet i want to copy and use the Edit-Sheet-Move/Copy function to copy the sheet to the 2015 file.
