RE: Error checking (A phone numbers which does not exist.)
Do you see any possibillity to check the status of a send SMS? In general: If I want to send a SMS to a phone number that does not exist, I'll always get the status Sent normally! Is there any possibillity to check it against Kannel ? That's the response from the smsbox, but only tells you that the smsbox has accepted the sendsms request. The most effective approach would be to request a delivery report - Kannel won't know whether the number is valid or not. Basically, configure the message store and request a delivery report for the message(s), either by using dlrurl in sendsms cgi, or dlr-url in the sendsms-user group. I think the user guide has more. SMS to SMTP
Hello all, We try to set up a SMS gateway to forward sms's to your personaly mail account. Situation: We have Nokia SMSC's, our Kannel SMS GW and a LDAP database where the MSISDN and the relating mail address is stored (41751234567 = [EMAIL PROTECTED]) The idea behind this would be to forward your sms from your mobile (41751234567) to a shortnumber e.g. 1234. The SMSC will pass it to the SMS GW, the GW querys the LDAP DB and gets the response [EMAIL PROTECTED] where the mail will be sent to. Now my guestion, does anybody has a idea or experience how to setup this in Kannel? Thanks Marc
pleaseeeeeee help me in thie regard!
i have installed kannel gtw. i want to send sms messages to mobile phones. what is the setup i need to have to do that? can i atleast use any simulator to get the sms messages on it? instead of sending it to the outside world? coz i dont have any cell with me nor plans to buy one? even i dont want to register with any SMSC? i want to simulate the process so that if everything works fine i can go for a SMSC. Thanks In advance. please help me in this. Sata
Windows 98 dial in and Kannel Wap
Hi I'm nearly there but I need a bit of help. I've had a small experimental WAP site going for some time. However because of the difficulties infinding sites thatsupport WAP AND CGI (for free of course!). I decided to try to host it on my own PC. This is ok because only I will actually use it. I've already got the WAP pages being served by a Web server and that works fine. Using fakewap I can get Kannel to retrieve the WAP pages as expected. I can dial in using my WAP phone (Nokia 3330) and Windows 98 logs me in recognising my user name etc. I use the standard PPP dial in that comes with Windows98.I can see that Kannel is monitoring the UDP ports. However Kannel simple doesn't see anything. It's is as if the dial in session isn't connecting to the TCP protocol stack. Does anyone have an ideas. By the way IP seems to work over my dial in because I use that for work. Thanks Graham wapkannel.config :- group = core admin-port = 13000 wapbox-port = 13002 admin-password = bar #status-password = foo #admin-deny-ip = "" #admin-allow-ip = "" wdp-interface-name = "*" log-file = "/Xitami/logs/kannel.log" #log-level = 0 #box-deny-ip = "*.*.*.*" box-allow-ip = "*.*.*.*" access-log = "/Xitami/logs/kannel_access.log" #store-file = "kannel.store" group = wapbox bearerbox-host = localhost log-file = "/Xitami/logs/wapbox.log" #log-level = 0 syslog-level = none

Just an idea, you could get something in ASP/PHP/JSP etc that the smsbox will call when the message arrives in, which kicks off the LDAP lookup and sends the mail. Kannel doesn't have to do much at all in this case. So, set an sms-service in the smsbox (maybe depending on a msg keyword, or for every message) which fetches something like http://myserver/newsms.php?sender=%precipient=%Ptext=%a and let the script do the work. There are some examples how you can configure your Kannel. I do not know any simulator which can do this. I thing you need a real(Hardware) Phone. You can test the simulation with the fakesmsc in kannel. kind regards Vodafone TeleCommerce GmbH Architecture Engineering Bjoern Buettner Daniel Goldbach Str. 17-19 40880 Ratingen Tel. +49 (0) 21 02 / 97 20 13 Fax +49 (0) 21 02 / 97 15 14 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] www.vodafone.com www.vodafone-telecommerce.de -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Im Auftrag von satavahana Gesendet: Donnerstag, 7. Re: SMS to SMTP
Hi Marc, Before going for setup, please read user guide for in depth working of kannel. As Ian Daly already wrote, you can set sms-service which calls an some script (perl/php/java/asp). This script will be form a mail object and directly deliver to mail server. Basically your requirment is for an Mail Gateway setup. Hope this helps you.
