Unfortunately, building x2goclient for Mac is not enough. There are some features in x2goclient (especially managing of nx-proxy window) which can not be written with Qt methods, but only with system API (libx11 and winapi). In addition, there are many changes from version to version in Mac OS itself. Especially it relevant to X11. The behaviour of X11 can be changed even within the same version of Mac OS with every new version of X11. So, you should be sure, that changes you made in x2goclient working with actual versions of mac and X11. Please be sure also, that changes you making in code of x2go client will not break its functionality on other systems and you always using the #if defined ( Q_OS_DARWIN ) #endif clauses I still plan to rewrite code of x2goclient to make it more understandable for other people and make hacking of it easier. Unfortunately, in moment I have no time for it. regards, -- Oleksandr Shneyder Dipl. [X2Go-Dev] I18n - how to do it
X-Posting to i18n and dev (Please make sure we continue this) Hi there, as i18n is getting more dynamic at the moment, I remembered our discussion from September last year. One of the things we looked at was www.transifex.net. I think we should reconsider looking at this, as it will allow to translate x2go without the need of using git, but using a web interface. And they have an API, as well as a simple client, so we can script the up- and download of translation files. As it is just used as a tool for translation, we take no risks. In the worst case, we can just switch to a different service or go back to the current workflow. Any comments? Cheers Morty -- Dipl.-Ing. Cheers Morty I've used transifex, rosetta and pootle before and I'm not a big fan, the only two positive things (in my view) with them is that they make it easy for drive-by translation (not dedicated translation). This might be a big plus if what you want is a greater numbers of languages (which might, or might not be completely translated), but I think the quality goes down on the actual translation. With the web-based solutions also the amount of collected words, with their potential translation, from all the different projects using the service might be of help to someone, but still might lead the translator into using wrong words because of the missing context and the fact that others have chosen this word (in another, not related project). With Qt Linguest, often the dialog will be shown (Wow! I wish this would be the case for all the strings :p) which helps tremendously in understanding the context of the strings currently being translated. With po-edit it's more like the web-based ones, it's not easy to understand the context. I too have some concerns on how to do the practical merge of the manual translation patches sent over mail with the download from the web-based service. Which wins when there are strings which are translated both manually and on the web-based service? In relation to the work of committing the translation patches, I think that with the first patches from new translators there will be questions, something went wrong and uncertainness on how things are done. I see two ways of making the time to commit the patches sent from translators less time-consuming. 1) Keep clean and concise (and always updated) instructions on how to do the actual translation, how to create the patch, and finally where to send the patches. 2) Give translators git commit access (somehow I see this one as being the least likely to happen :p). In my view, translators, web-page admins and documentation writes in a project on equal footing as those who commits small code-patches - all being potential committers to either git, or wiki/web. As people show commitment, trust should be given in different levels and on different arenas. This isn't an argument for giving me git, or any other access, it's just my point on view and my points towards the web-based translation services. Anyway, I guess I'll be committed either way in translating X2Go, (as long as you want me, that is :-)), it's your choice what to use ;-) Best regards, Terje ___ X2Go-Dev mailing list X2Go-Dev@lists.berlios.de https://lists.berlios.de/mailman/listinfo/x2go-dev

Let's see if other people are reporting back. :) I might be able to get my hands on a Mac at work tomorrow, but I can't promise it, and I'm not sure if it's 32 or 64 bits. I'll report back soon as I have found the Mac and tested. I'm sorry to say that the Mac (the only one we had) isn't around at our office anymore. So I can't help with testing Mac packages :-( //Terje ___ X2Go-Dev mailing list X2Go-Dev@lists.berlios.de https://lists.berlios.de/mailman/listinfo/x2go-dev
Re: [X2Go-Dev] Font colour in x2goclient in case of dark system theme
V Fri, 17 Feb 2012 16:33:21 +0100 Milan Knížek knizek.co...@gmail.com napsáno: Hello, the x2goclient has hardcoded light appearance for the various widgets (main window, session list, login window, progress of logging in), which does not work well with dark system theme: the white font is not distinquishable from the background. To those interested, a quick workaround w/o need for recompiling is to run: $ x2goclient -bg white -fg black which will set background and foreground colours for the whole app, fitting with the hardcoded lookfeel. (Both parameters exist for any Qt app. Probably works only in X Window system.) The app then looks different than the rest of the DE, of course. [X2Go-Dev] Traffic shaping nightmare - missing SSH TOS bits
Hello, all. I've been working on a project to implement traffic shaping to conform to 95th percentile billing including our X2Go virtual desktops. One of the challenges is prioritizing the interactive X2Go traffic (screen, keyboard, mouse) differently from bulk traffic like local share transfers, printing, and possibly sound. I thought this would be trivial because of the SSH transport since SSH sets the minimize-delay bit for interactive traffic and the maximize-throughput bit for bulk transfers. Thus we could distinguish the packets by looking at the TOS bits. This is how the default Linux pfifo_fast qdisc does it anyway. I took a packet trace just to confirm it and, to my horror, I see that we are not setting any of the TOS bits and thus not prioritizing interactive traffic even with the default traffic shaping. I'm guessing this is a casualty of moving to libssh. Is there any way to set the TOS bits for interactive to 0x10, bulk to 0x08 as it is in OpenSSH?. It would be really nice if sound could be configured either way according the the administrator's preference. Unfortunately, I did not see anything in the libssh documentation to show how to do this although I do not claim to understand it. This is a critical issue for any WAN based deployments like ours.
