This is a pre-release version of XFree86, and is not supported in any
way. Bugs may be reported to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and patches submitted
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Before reporting bugs in pre-release versions,
please check the latest version in the XFree86 CVS repository
(http://www.XFree86.Org/cvs)
XFree86 Version 4.1.0.1 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6510)
Release Date: 21 December 2001
If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is
newer than the above date, look for a newer version before
reporting problems. (See http://www.XFree86.Org/FAQ)
First you you take this advice into account. Running a 3+ years old
software is calling for troubles.

(II) LoadModule: xtt
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libxtt.a
Duplicate symbol TT_FreeType_Version in
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libxtt.a:xttmodule.o
Also defined in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/fonts/libfreetype.a
You can't load freetype and xtt at the same time. You have to choose one
of the 2. For european fonts the freetype module is usually performing
well: remove the line loading xtt from you /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file.

You're right !!!
I just still have a little trouble:
(II) Unloading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libvgahw.a
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
Fatal server error:
no screens found
As my plan is to startx on a remote server (which doesn't have any
screen), and as i'm running windowsXP on a laptop i thought that this
trouble may come from my terminal windows software (i use putty)

ANy idea ?

Re: [XFree86] I need some help

2003-07-08 Thread Mark Vojkovich
If you want to use the drivers that come with XFree86
you'll need to be using XFree86 4.3 and you'll want to use
the nv driver. Otherwise, you can use NVIDIA's binary
Linux drivers available on the NVIDIA web site. Those will
work with the XFree86 version you have now.

Note, the error you are getting is because your font
server isn't running. Starting xfs, however, won't rememdy
that the card you have isn't supported in your old XFree86
server.

I would like you to see it and if you can, reply me what to do.
I'm running Red Hat 8.0 in an Athlon 750MHz, 256MB of RAM, the video card is an MSI
GForce 4 with 64MB DDR and the monitor is a ViewSonic EA771.

 Thanks in advance
