[xmail] Re: SMTP Forward

2007-12-13 Thread CLEMENT Francis
This solution (using isp smtp servers) is not a good solution if Edinilson
is the mx for its customers, because more and more servers use spf or dkim,
 that could reject the isp server not registered as an 'autorized' smtp
server for the sender domain (and autorizing the isp in the spf or dkim dns
records open the door to any isp customers to use the original sender domain
)

Hi Edinilson,

Let me get this straight : am I right if I say that you want your
customers use *your* smtp-server (whatever it is) as a smarthost, to
forward their messages?

IMHO you should let them use their ISP's smtp-server (option
DefaultSMTPGateways in server.tab), especially if they have a
dynamic ip.

Is'nt that the solution you are looking for, or am I missing something?
:-S

Tjeerd

Which port are these clients using? Can they be set up (correctly) to
use SSL (port 465) or MSA (port 587)? It would seem to me that using SSL
would solve the problem nicely (unless the ISP is blocking that port),
as the ISP would then be unable to filter the content since it would be
encrypted

 These kind of problem is happening with a specific ISP in Brazil (that
 covers +- 30% of the territory).
 I think that this ISP is using some king of filter on SMTP connections
 because we don´t have this problem with others ISPs.

 Did you try ETRN facilities.
 Configure customer router to do dyndns, then use ETRN method on xmail
 customers servers to get the mails back.

 Notice I never tried xmail with ETRN, as client or server, so don't ask =
 me
 for xmail setup on both sides ;)

 PS : what sort of problems have you with Outlook/Outlook Express AUTH ?
 I have all my customers using auth (mandatory), many with these MUA, =
 and
 never had problems ...

 Hi all,

 Due some persistent problems with Outlook and Outlook Express with SMTP =

 Authentication, we are instructing some companies that uses our =
 services to=20
 install XMail Server internally.
 But in Brazil many adsl connections uses dynamic ips and so we can=B4t =
 open=20
 these ips in our smtprelay.tab

 Is there any way to instruct our XMail Server to accept these messages =
 that=20
 are being forwarded from these clients without use smtprelay.tab?

If you want to get meaningful answers, and hince use other ppl time, you
need to spend your own time in documenting and explaining the problem. As
it is written above, I didn't understand sh*t of what you're talking
about.
