we liked the effect, a sort of Scots-traditional-meets-Steve-Reich.
The problem with uneven bar counts in jaabc2ps actually causes a program crash -- not
much of an effect to like ;-)

I still haven't succeeded in FTPing the jaabc2ps RPMs to the sourceforge site
so I put them on my website instead. I also updated the dos/windoze zip files
there.

Again, doing it this way leaves it up to the person who will be printing, and
presumably playing from, the score. So, if you don't like helper accidentals
and I do, we can each have our cake and eat it too.

done it in jaabc2ps.

"%%NoDecos v yes|no" to suppress decorations for that voice, the other is
"%%DecosBelowSt v yes/no" to print decorations under the staff (v is the
voice number in both cases).

Doing so would blow all the abc with V:1 clef=bass

Netscape to deal with that) and wanted to download the file instead of
displaying it.
Not having netscape configured to recognize text/vnd might be why
none of the object examples worked, come to think of it.

Isn't the tilde (~) a "combining" space? Abc2ps treats it that way and I'm
pretty sure it's described in the draft standard.
I use "w: 1.~First..." all the time to put the "1." and the first word of
the line together on the first note with a space between t
itional formatting characters. Also, any midi player
software that uses the 1.7.3-described leading characters to distinguish
simple text from chords will ignore all of this just as it should.

something in ghostscript's defaults, not in abc2ps. Just brought up the
ghostscript viewer and I think what I changed was in the "media..." menu,
selecting the correct paper size there.

Depen

they might as well not be present! Some of the files may be in use by
windows and it requires a good setup utility (or a much more savvy than
average user) to copy over the new files in that case.

As for notating when the guitarist should shut up, either "tacet" or a
