Hi
What I see is the the following key is generated when I set the policy
in the gpo mmc
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group
Policy
Objects\{15087322-E2C5-4C7A-902A-E813FA21EB66}Machine\SOFTWARE\Microsoft
\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
i have a need to find a tool that will help stress
test LDAP calls to AD. Anyone aware of a tool such as this? I know
in the web world MS has WAST (web app stress tool), exchange has JETSTRESS,
LOADSIM.

Hi Steve
I'm not aware of anything specific. The ldclt
tool (comes with iPlanet)
might also work for AD, but I haven't tried it.
Being an ASP.NET guru you should be
able to script something quite easily :-) You can track expensive
and inefficient queries (good fora stress test) by using
There is a load test tool for AD, called ADTest. Check it out at:

What I've seen is that the key you've listed below is populated when I set local
policy on a machine that is part of a domain, but I'm not connected to the domain. My
guess is that this is Windows' way of preventing a disconnected user from overriding
domain policy by simply setting it
Hi Mark,
If all you want is to provide your mac users with adequate advance warning
of password expiry (e.g., by e-mail or by launching a web browser to a
suitable URL at an appropriate time, from an OSX login shell script), and
help them to change passwords on AD and elsewhere from a web

In short: This is what I want:
Script 1: identify the servers (Domain Controllers)
using File Replication service (FRS).
Script 2: Disable these found in Script 1.
Repadmin will identify all DCs that host a
particular naming context (or in forest, or site, or.etc.). That said,
there are a couple of caveats here:
1) a non-DC could be using FRS (say for an FRS replica set behind DFS)
2) a DC could host more than one replica set (SYSVOL, of course,
Hello:
I am looking for some suggestions about tape (or other
media) backups for branch offices. Our main offices have DLT Autoloaders
running Backup Exec. We have several field offices 5-15 users with 20

The current front runner is

You say you have 20 - 60GB of data, these TR5 cartridges will do 5GB. How do you
forsee them being useful? I'd think a DLT IV would be best here in 35/70 config.

Good questions Eric, there will be five DC's in this site that will be
doing authentication. Exchange server and DC's that are dedicated to
exchange are in another site. The main type of authentication will be two
types, regular logins via a logon on a client, others will be LDAP enabled
I've dissected a bit and put some info inline.
I'm a bit tired so sorry if it is a bit incoherent. ;)
