Hi,
There are two LTO pools in this TSM server, one primary and the other
copy. I cannot explain why the two stg pools have different number of
records in CONTENTS table:
primary pool: POOL1
copy pool: POOL2
- All disk-based stg pools and volumes are empty. They have been migrated

At least our complains here could be a good feedback to IBM that their

Similar experience with Admin Center 6.3, but this time in manage servers

Tiago,
The storage pool needs reclamation. Set the storage pool reclamin value
to something lower than 100%. If you are using DRM, reclamation would be
painless (as it generates new tapes using primary stg pool, not offsite
tapes). Otherwise it would ask to get the volumes back from offsite.

Hi,
Can a TSM client (BA or TDP) be configured to use multiple tape drives
concurrently? A filesystem with tens of Terabytes of incremental data
should be backed up which evidently takes lots of hours with a single LTO4

The problem is that changes are not gradual. Files are actually monthly
backups coming from other backup software like Acronis, BackupExec and even
native MS SQL backup files (yes, it is weird!) . I don't think journal

Thanks all.
Could better deduplicaion ratio be one of justifications to migrate
BackupExec systems to TSM? Actually half of our systems use non-TSM

Hi,
Can a VTL like TS7650G be presented to more than one backup servers (like

Thanks Daniel,
Yes, what TSM database shows means that the volume contains data. We found

Hi
The question is how to use TDP for SQL in a VMware environment. As the data

Is NPIV a supported method to present SAN resources to VMware clients? A

supported or not.
Thank you,
Thank you all for sharing your ideas and experiences. To continue the

work. Correct?
- In VMs, storage agent (and so lan-free backup) is not supported by IBM,
but it

Hi Steve,
- You mean IBM has no TSM-based solution for DB2 for z, VSAM, DASD backups?
- Does the upcoming TSM for z/OS media backups only USS data?
Thank you.
This question still remains unanswered:
Is there anyway to backup DB2 for z/OS into a TSM-based solution?
Thank you.
How much performance degradation would there if encryption is on? Although
it is the duty of drive itself (I suppose), it might have negative influence
on backup and even restore performance?
Can TSM for MVS backup DASDs like image backup of open systems? I would be

admin guide and admin reference, but not much conceptual information in it.
Thank you.
Hi,

This implicitly means that we should use TSM 6.2 for open systems and have a

Does the incompatibility between FCP and FICON have any issue with library

IMO SCSI reset command should not harm disk traffic if disk and tape are
