I have tried the following, but it does not seem to work:

 DIRALIAS /photos-01/ Old Sample Photographs
DIRALIAS /photos-02/ Badges, Insignias, Standards etc.

Because they've got spaces in them, you need to put them in quotes, like
this:

DIRALIAS /photos-01/ Old Sample Photographs

But I tried that after sending my original query, it still doesn't work. Is
there something I am missing?

No, it should work. What precisely doesn't work about it? Have you tried
looking at the output with SETTINGS ON to see what analog thinks it's meant
to be doing?

What if the directories have subdirectories, should there be another command
somewhere?

DIRALIAS /photos-01/pages/ Old Sample Photographs
DIRALIAS /photos-02/pages/ Badges, Insignias, Standards etc.
DIRALIAS /photos-03/pages/ September Images

You can do that too if you want. The DIRALIAS just matches the name on
individual lines. And if you want to match all lines with name starting with
/photos-01/, you could use something like
  DIRALIAS /photos-01/* Old Photos

OK, we are almost there, and thank you for your time and patience.

The next question is, how do I get rid of duplicate entries such as in the
following:

#reqs: %bytes: directory
-: --: -
 1368: 25.75%: /photos-03/
 1368: 25.75%: 03 September Images
 1245: 23.37%: /photos-08/
 1245: 23.37%: 08 October Images
 1153: 22.72%: /photos-04/
 1153: 22.72%: 04 Baz's Cartoons

I would like to get rid of the line 1368: 25.75%: /photos-03/ and
subsequent duplications?

So everything inside /photos-03/ is actually inside /photos-03/pages/ ?
In that case, don't make an entry for /photos-03/pages/ (include less with
your SUBDIR, or use a DIREXCLUDE to exclude them afterwards) and use the
DIRALIAS on /photos-03/ itself.

[analog-help] Using DIRALIAS for the Directory Report!

2002-11-12 Thread analog-help
Please tell me, can you use the DIRALIAS command to change the directory
name in the Directory Report, i.e.

#reqs: %bytes: directory
-: --: -
 1368: 25.75%: /photos-03/
 1245: 23.37%: /photos-08/
 1153: 22.72%: /photos-04/
  490: 11.07%: /photos-01/
  316: 6.47%: /photos-02/
  241: 4.55%: /photos-09/
  248: 4.44%: /photos-05/
  114: 1.63%: /photos-07/

I need to change this to:

#reqs: %bytes: directory
-: --: -
 1368: 25.75%: September Images
 1245: 23.37%: October Images
 1153: 22.72%: Baz's Cartoons
  490: 11.07%: Old Photographs
  316: 6.47%: Badges, Insignias etc.
241: 4.55%: Army Recruiting Day at Horse Guards
248: 4.44%: Guard Mounting at Knightsbridge
  114: 1.63%: Webmaster's Photos of Afghanistan

I have tried the following, but it does not seem to work:

DIRALIAS /photos-01/ Old Sample Photographs
DIRALIAS /photos-02/ Badges, Insignias, Standards etc.
DIRALIAS /photos-03/ September Images
DIRALIAS /photos-04/ Baz's Cartoons
DIRALIAS /photos-05/ Guard Mounting at Knightsbridge
DIRALIAS /photos-06/ Images of Officers
DIRALIAS /photos-07/ Webmaster's photos of Afghanistan
DIRALIAS /photos-08/ October Images
DIRALIAS /photos-09/ Army Recruiting day at Horse Guards
DIRALIAS /photos-010/ November Images

Any help would be appreciated
