[android-developers] Trying to Build Android Project in a CentOS machine behind Corp proxy

Hi Everyone,


I am trying to build a Android project in CentOS machine as part of 
Continuous Integration.

Dev team builds in Windows environment and it works fine in their machine.


*I have set http_proxy and https_proxy in /etc/environment.*


*I have set proxy info in gradle.properties.I have setup Android build 
tools ,build and platform tools.*


In CentOS machine, Initially I was getting this error.


* What went wrong:
A problem occurred configuring project ':app'.> java.lang.NullPointerException 
(no error message)
* Try:Run with --info or --debug option to get more log output.



Then following this thread, 
https://github.com/ionic-team/ionic-cli/issues/218 I created 
gradle.properties in $ANDROID_HOME/platforms/android-25

*Now I am seeing this error.*

  Please install the missing components using the SDK manager in Android Studio.


1) Any idea why I am still getting 407 proxy authentication required?

2) I tried to download packages "Android Support Repository and Google 
Repository" using *sdkmanager** "extras;google-android-support"*, but it is 
failing with message

"Warning: Failed to find package extras;google-android-supportsdkmanager"

[android-developers] phone lost

i lost my phone 48 hours ago, dropped somewhere when i ride motorcycle. and 
firmed it found by someone (let say mr.x), because i can ring it twice and 
then he shut it off.
i was not used to activate gps/location to save battery, but the last time 
i held it the data/internet turned on.

5 minutes later i was aware my phone dropped, i lock and erase it thru 
android phone lost feature thru google website. and then i change my google 
password for security reason in my mind.
i received and email that said phone lock and erase requested, but i never 
received email that said it was successful.

Is it the reason my phone never locked and erased?
until now the lost phone cant be contacted thru find android feature.

i asked printed phone call transaction from the operator call center, and 
they said 5 hours after I dropped my phone, mr X use my phone to call 
several people (he activated) for 2-3 hours and then he shut it off again.
in my mind, is it a mistake to change the google password at once after i 
lost my phone and is it the reason why the phone not locked/erased?

Or it was successfully locked/erased but google doesn't send a "success 
notification thru email"...?

please help.

[android-developers] How to best handle android.net.wifi.LINK_CONFIGURATION_CHANGED ?

On my network I've started to see the ConnectivityService broadcast 
android.net.wifi.LINK_CONFIGURATION_CHANGED 
intents every time a UDP packet is being sent. It prevents the response 
from coming back.

Whenever the link configuration is changed, it flips between one of two 
IPv6 addresses. Does anybody know how the best way to handle this case? I 
need to be able to send out a UDP packet and read the response.

[android-developers] Android Auto 'Browsing Blocked for Safety' message prevents scrolling/tapping

I am developing an app to be Android Auto compatible. However when I am 
browsing through songs in my directory hierarchy I get the message 
 'Browsing Blocked for Safety' and I can't continue with my selection. This 
seems to significantly interfere with my user interactions. Is there any 
way around this/ to prevent this block from appearing?

For context, our structure looks 


Category A ->   Station A   ->   Song A
Category B   Station B Song B
 Station C Song C

Note, the song list could be 10+ songs.

This position is for a *Performance Engineer* with .NET development and MS
SQL Server experience.



∙ Responsible for standing up Performance Environments with MS SQL (2016),
ASP.Net / WCF, Silverlight, HTML/JS/Angular technologies

∙ Partner with the Enterprise Architect, Development and Shared Services
teams, Implementation Engineers and Product Management to develop
performance testing plans that model client usage of an Enterprise SAAS
solution for health care providers.

∙ Responsible for planning and creating automated performance tests based
on current client usage and predicted future usage, executing tests, and
analyzing results to measure scalability, stability and reliability.

∙ Responsible for developing tools for automation and load testing when
there is no off-the-shelf tools available for a particular measurement.

∙ Responsible for measuring application and environment performance,
documenting issues and working with the development and implementation
engineers to identify solutions.

∙ Responsible for capturing the requirements of external client interfaces
and identifying a method of simulation.

∙ Responsible for capturing the requirements for production environment
configuration.

∙ Generate periodic reports showing current product load and performance
against predicted load and target performance goals.

∙ Assist in trouble shooting live client issues via issue duplication in
the performance test environment and identification of root cause.

∙ Generates innovative ideas to resolve problems.

∙ Responsible for presenting to project teams and business leaders.

∙ Participate in analysis and design walkthroughs, as well as project
meetings.

∙ Ensure process improvements are documented and incorporated in the load

I have found a solution I don't know if it work really but a least it 
compile and allow me to do my work...
Just copy paste what's inside your base module "build.gradle" inside your 
feature module "build.gradle"

basically,

dependencies {

[...]

implementation 'android.arch.lifecycle:runtime:1.0.0'
implementation 'android.arch.lifecycle:extensions:1.0.0-alpha9-1'
annotationProcessor 'android.arch.lifecycle:compiler:1.0.0-alpha9-1'

annotationProcessor 'android.arch.persistence.room:compiler:1.0.0-alpha9-1'

}


If you have this in your base build.gradle, copy paste it in your feature 
module (and potentially all other feature...).

[android-developers] Instant app + Room library

Hello,

I am using the Room library in the base module of our Instant app project.
Whenever I try to compile one "feature" module of the app, an error happen 
at compile time:

"*error: cannot access RoomDatabase*"
followed by
"*class file for android.arch.persistence.room.RoomDatabase not found*"

The only answer I've found so far is here:

It is true ? How can I do to implement local storage in the app using room 
in my base module ? Did I have to rewrite all from scratch to avoid using

We are using google API from which we were getting latitude and longitude 
of the current location and all things were working fine perfectly.But now 
it is creating an issue while fetching latitude and longitude and sometimes 
giving different location on some android devices.API and function is 
mentioned below:

[android-developers] Is it legit to put a link to a download page of apkmirror in my app?

I had a Substratum theme which got removed because of a download feature 
which let the user to update some apps like whatsapp and youtube before the 
staged rollout. That feature downloaded directly the apk from apkmirror, 
and I didn't know it wasn't legit. 
It has been banned for "Malicious Behavior", which included this case.

I uploaded the theme again without that feature, but a solution to update 
the apps easily would be still needed.

Now the question is:* is it legit to put a link to a download page of 
apkmirror? *
There wouldn't be a direct download anymore, only a linking to an apkmirror 
page, where the user will be able to download and then update the app.

[android-developers] Updating an app locally and not through the playstore

Hi I have created my own in-house android application however since the 
first version some changes have been made to the application as well as 
some changes to the sqlite database, so the issue that i am having is that 
i want to update the application locally without uninstalling the older 
version and loosing the data in the database, is there any way to update 
the application locally with an apk?
