Wait, what? How did you folks find out about all these other events
clustered around IO? I keep seeing reference to them
E.g. www.meetup.com
Or some of the area's GTUGs' web-sites.

Ah, that must be the advantage of living in an area with a GTUG. Not an
option for me, unfortunately. And I never considered meetup.com, because
once again, it's not relevant to me the vast majority of the time. I'll keep
it in mind for future events, though.
Thanks for the responses.

There's no GTUG near me either (I live in a technological desert) but I know
people who are. That's how I found out. There is value in networking!

I was there and was turned away, so no LG phone to develop for. Too bad as
I've been doing a bit of machine vision / AR and it would have been a good
demo platform.
It was on my calendar, but apparently I didn't successfully RSVP...

They gave out something like 120 of them in total, and there were a lot more
people there than that. I signed up at the LG booth at IO. The people who
got the phones were the first 120 people in the door who had proper
registrations. The rest got free drinks. Frankly, I got plain lucky.

My overall impression of the device is an excellent rating.
The device functions quite well (Android 2.2.2) and has all the usual
features. The phone will work with ANY carrier with 3G, including Verizon,
Sprint, ATT and T-Mobile, and from what I understand, virtually any other
in Europe and
Has anyone managed to get this device working with ATT in 3G? All I can get
it to do is Edge.
Great phone, very cool 3D effect.

Working fine for me with an old 3G sim. Are you using one of the new 4G
sims?

I'm using the 3G sim from my Nexus One ATT version. It worked perfectly
there.
Is there a setting I missed?

In the past ATT has done something to their sims that prevents them
from working on newer model
Worth a shot. I'll try that.
