Here is a timelapse video https://vimeo.com/127577130 I made looking
North from my place (see https://vimeo.com/127577130).
Shot at Coongulla in Victoria looking North where the wave is coming off Mt
Wellington (5,400 feet) in an increasing NW wind. Thus, the wave length
increases as time goes
Nobody mentioned the Killarny Gap (NE of Narrabri) wave where I got to 16,000ft
for my Gold C height in the mid 80's. This was entirely due to Macca who lent me
some oxy gear at short notice :)
Pic are of the Stirling Range wave in full swing. Not a lot of days like that.

Gee Emilis, my old-timers disease is worse than I thought:-(
I don't have the foggiest memory of doing that!
Now I'm REALLY scared.
But while talking about wave, it always crosses my mind if there is any
indication of it. Bernard and I were aloft in his ASH a few weeks ago

It would be worth putting a map together of wave areas at various sites.
Stitched together they may form a useful XC corridor.
Google Maps can be set up to share information like this.

Nice article, Noel and scary story.
Wave is where you find it. I've flown in wave in the easterly in the
lee of the Darling Range from Byford, the old Perth Gliding club site.
I was the only one flying and unfortunately there was an overcast at 3000 feet.
I've flown in wave a few times out of
The Otway Ranges produce plenty of good wave. I tend to think it is shear

windy conditions.
The best flight has been with Geoff Vincent in my Taifun. We pulled out at
