doesn't show the usual Foehn gap: For starters, the main ridge producing
this is perhaps 15-20 miles away and hidden behind the nearby hills. There
was a lot of cloud on the upwind side around Mt Buller, Mt Useful, etc. You

underside of a medium level lennie (it looks lower than it was) in a NW
airstream off the Great Divide in Gippsland. It shows an apparently dry
layer under a fairly moist one containing the lennie. It spans a 3.5 hour

Shot at Coongulla in Victoria looking North where the wave is coming off Mt
Wellington (5,400 feet) in an increasing NW wind. Thus, the wave length
increases as time goes
Apart from the Grampians, Victoria also has good wave from Mt Donna Buang
near Warburton and Mt Useful and Mt Wellington North of Sale. My best height
at the former is FL250 twice in my Ximango (entry at around 4,000') and
FL220 from the later (ditto). I've had a few climbs to FL16-180 in my
