Hello!
I've just downloaded http://avifile.sourceforge.net/divx4linux-20010807.tgz
and was surprised to find that install script install.sh is in dos format,
i.e. with \r at the end of lines. On my RedHat 7 bash was unable to deal with
it properly - I was to pipe the file through sed first.
I got fed up with the syncing problems, so I'm taking a look at the source.
I think I am a little closer to the source of the problem. In
lib/aviplay/aviplay.cpp, the getVideoAsync function returns invalid replies. I
see/hear that video is obviously ahead of audio, the difference grows, but

I think I had the same problem... what kind of sound card do you use?

Yep, that's the chip. TerraTec DMX SoundSystem was the card I had
problems with.
The card wasn't too well supported anyway, so I used a ALS102

i guess if you can build in support for that codec, you should be able to
play dvd in linux too, which would be really nice. atleast the
Guess why the resampling option in avifile was added? - Syncing to the
sound clock is the old behaviour which Zdenek didn't like.
But in that case you have to resample audio, because otherwise you'll get out
of sync.
Which you may of course try to use - I have spent quite a few hours on

Um, how often does that happen? (I'm not running a studio.)
Always. Just try it.
Um, I rather meant: Why should I want

Hi,
As soon as I will figure out how to do correct timing with audio stream
from sound card I'll do it - but the version which I've removed
has had unpleasent 'back to the future' effect e.g. the clock was jumping
randomly 10ms forward backward - and its really hard to make
any reasonable
