how do you define Unix-like in 2011?
Not Ayatana or Gnome Shell in any way - I am not crazy - in both of
them Usability is a joke. Usability is the most honted and killed
animal in Ayatana and Gnome Shell.

what do you mean it doesnt work?

look at Unix interfaces from the past they have been not pretty but
functional back in the good old days we had XWM and applications written
different toolkits but they did not get in the users way and did not bog
the system.
When given the idea of 'small is beautiful' - I'd also say small
Which reminds me, shouldn't we stop pretending that synchronous and
asynchronous notifications are similar enough to deserve being
close? They are not, and the current approach causes more problems
than solves.
What problems does it cause?
The most obvious one is the ugly gap when no

I got no problem with a close button. But I really think being able to
MIDDLE-CLICK the window icon to close it (like one can do with tabs in web
browsers) would be a huge boon for usability. It's a simple thing to figure out
too because every one is used to it from web browser use.

Sorry I think I didn't make myself clear enough.
About the circular button I meat the circular shape of the buttons. I think
their design being circular is not consistent with the rest of the design
of the unity. Which has more squarish throughout.
I agree with the global menu bar for maximized
But I never mentioned non-maximized windows at all. My argument
pertained to the dash.
