Hello,
After having skimmed over the Corrdinating Delivery of a Gift patent
recently issued to Jeff Bezos of Amazon, I take back what I said about
patents affecting Bacula.
If the US patent office allows patents of crap like that, we are all in *deep*
trouble.
We can only hope that the

It's now a case of configuring it correctly.
We have 5 slots available for Bacula to use, and one tape drive. I'd

I just noticed in the configuration example below that Autochanger =
yes is missing from bacula-dir.conf.
When I first set up Bacula a while ago I had problems with that as soon
as I tried to label tapes -- it didn't ask me for a slot number, because

The Knoppix 3.9 image (Debian 3.1-based) contains bacula-fd version

booting Knoppix on a client workstation and tweaking bacula-fd.conf for
host name, password and working directory names, I start the fd with -f

Thanks, Kern. I tested again, this time with debugging enabled on the
Director. While the fd debugging output still doesn't show anything at all, I
can see in the dir debugging output that it opened a connection with the file
daemon, then says that cram_get_auth failed for file daemon in

Thinking about this some more...
You say I should see the hello transmission in the fd debug output. What
explanation could there be for the director reporting a fd connection and then
a cram failure and all the while the fd has not reported a hello message (or
anything else)?
