We need some levity here.
Micawber the Berner boy has been bouncing along, doing just fine. Currently
he is standing outside the office barking at me because I have the baby gate
up so he can't get in. The purpose is not to keep Mic out, but Nessie the

My puppy, Halo, also likes things in her mouth. For example, when she wakes
me up at night to go out she always has something in her mouth -- a toy, a
sock, clothes, whatever :) This morning it was a collar that had been on the
floor. She carries her object to the back door where I take it from

Is there a proper way to put on a prong collar?
Yes, it is very easy. Just take it apart in the middle and put it back together on the
dog. Simply squeeze any two of
Our Cooper is a shoe thief. It gives him the most pleasure to greet us
with a shoe. He never chews them, just likes to carry them around. So, we
keep randome shoes and sandals just inside the entry of the back of the
house. It's not an unusual sight to find me out in the wee hours of the
Let me try again -- I didn't have my plain text option
working.
I would hope owners and breeders will try and input
their dogs/litters in Bernergarde directly. You are
able to do so now, I just don't know what the turn
around time is for seeing online since I do not know
replication schedule. I
Hi Eileen:
Our 10 month old Berner Gertie INSISTS on having something in her mouth when
she greats us. Actually, she won't even come over to us till she has
something, then she'll come over, tail going a mile a minute, and shove the
item (usually one of her stuffed toys) into our legs...or
Does anyone else have a Berner that LOVES to bounce on
the couch?
My almost 15 month old boy Porter has started this
hilarious new habit. He gets on the couch and
literally starts bouncing around. It's like he's
jumping on a trampoline! He'll go from one end to the
other bouncing all the way
Mack also needs something in his mouth when he greets me. He is usually at
the door to say a quick hello and then runs into the living room to get a
bone (or his favorite toy - a plastic ham steak). Then he runs around and
keeps coming up to me to show me that he has the bone.
It always seems

Ah, yes, the berner that needs something in the mouth when s/he is excited...
We have learned to keep stuffed animals handy by the door, so when we come
home we can stuff them in her mouth... If we don't she mouths us, chews
on Apollo, and barks incescently in the highest pitched bark a berner
This question arose out of events following the sudden death of our 10 year
old English Springer Spaniel on Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon my daughter Jessica arrived for a visit and all the
dogs, Berners, Ty Grace were bouncing around greeting her while Ariel, who
has impaired vision, was
One question: if you are not breeding your dog, is OFA or PENNhip

just for your own piece of mind?? Is there any other reason?
Hi Angela!
I can answer that for you. It is not about peace of mind. Somehow owning a
Berner and peace of mind seem incongruous. G

I've been reading the recent discussion of pet shop Berners with
great interest. The 3 month old BMD girl reported a week ago is
still in the window of a Pass Pets in the St. Louis area. Her
asking price is now $1900. - Down from $3300. At least they now
know that they have BERNESE Mountain Dog -
Wylie doesn't bother with socks or shoes, but does take stuffed toys out
every time he goes outside. He often will collect as many as he can cram in his
mouth, maybe 3 fairly large toys. If he drops one he works diligently to pick
it up before he will go outside. He carries them to the back
It helps greatly to hear from veterans who have been in the
trenches in these pet store battles. There are so many fronts:
educating consumers, promoting responsible ownership, shutting
down the supply, helping the victims (Berner and human), ... It
sounds a pet store packet on Berners might help.
We (Three Rivers BMDC) have distributed puppy packets to the managers of pet
stores that sell dogs (e.g., Petland) for some time now. We grit our teeth
and present a pleasant (uncritical) front when we approach the store
manager -- most of whom are unaware they have a Berner and many of whom are
