A concentrated effort to turn up a Neotropic Cormorant from my Condo (301
Frances Ave in Hamilton) has turned up a noteworthy bird both yesterday and
this morning. Thankfully I managed better photos today. A link to view them

At 7:45 a.m. this morning (August 20) I was standing at the end of the
east-side pier at Wheatley Harbour, where a BROWN PELICAN flew in and landed on
the offshore rock breakwall. I then blurted out some words that can not be
repeated here! For the next hour or so the bird preened, and then
Dan Kaczynski called to indicate that there are 2 juvenile Red-necked
Phalaropes in the third cell at the Nonquon Sewage lagoons.

As John Stirrat reported Dan Kazinski found two Red-necked Phalaropes in the
3rd lagoon at Nonquon today. One was a juvenile and the other an adult. They
were actively feeding when I left at 11:30. Also at the lagoons were:
359 Bonaparte's Gulls
56 Lesser Yellowlegs
5 Greater Yellowlegs

The American White Pelican, found by Susan Atkinson and Kelly Balkom on August
18 at Luther Marsh, was still present last night. Kory Renaud, Laura Bond and I
arrived around 7:00 PM and scoped the marsh from the viewing platform located
near the parking lot at the northeast corner of the marsh,
The egret roost at Richmond Drive just west of Cornwall is on the rise. Two
weeks ago we had 14-18 egrets on the roost. Last night Brian Morin and I
counted 42 egrets. The first arrived at 7:25 PM and the last came in at 8:20
PM. The roost is in plain view and it is a pleasure to watch them

I was able to make it out to Wheatley Harbour after work and was lucky enough
to get to see the pelican. It was sitting on the rock break wall as previously
reported by Alan Wormington. The bird stayed in the same location until 7 pm
when it took off and flew out into the lake. It had

Just got a note from Pete Read, he'd tried to post, but wasn't able to. The
pelican was present on the break wall when it got dark, so it should be there
in the morning for anyone thinking of coming.
