Cy suggested: You might want to try mixing water, salt and vinegar. Will this mixture kill poison ivy? We have used a product called Round Up, but it kills everything it touches, including trees eventually. I'm not sure if it is safe around animals though. Boop --

If it is very dry the weeds and so forth have their pours closed to conserve moisture so the weed killer you apply
