You are indeed in the right place. However you are asking questions
concerning Grub2, that has its own list. So therefore I suggest you
join that list and ask there. We don't bite. This list concerns itself
with those lingering issues regarding Grub-Legacy.

supposing that when you boot from Grub it checks your device.map with
your assignations and that it's not true.
It does check your bios
