Labor Day weekend is not convenient for many people with many taking
vacations or having family commitments. The deer season also
encompasses the weekend following the scheduled Muckrace so that
wasn’t an option. Moving it into August or further into September
means there likely wouldn’t be the

warblers: the DEC division which looked into the drainage found no
violations occurred but another division will also assess the

The NYSDEC has referred the issue of the drainage ditching at Armitage
Rd. to their Ecosystem Health Dept. and they will get clarification
regarding what is happening and determine if there have been any

I was over on Armitage rd. the other day where the nestboxes are set
up for Prothonotary warblers and noticed the one that had fallen over
the winter was reinstalled (west side of the river). Unfortunately
however this private property has had some ditching/drainage work done

WMU's open for the early antlerless deer season. Frank has been very
supportive of the Muckrace and has installed signage and alerted

season for deer which will start on September 11th, during the
Saturday portion of the Muckrace. NYSDEC Wildlife Management Units in

the Batavia Wastewater Treatment Plant. The bird was associating with

Some final numbers for the 23rd annual Montezuma Muckrace which took
place 9/6-9/7:
34 teams took part with a total of 152 participants! 176 species
overall were recorded including a 1st for the Muckrace, Laughing gull.

My nestboxes on the property (3 acres) here at home in Canandaigua were pretty
successful for the most part this yr. 3 pairs of Bluebbirds were successful in
fledging 27 young this yr. 1 pair nested 3 times fledging a total of 13 young
