A late morning trip through Genung Preserve in Freeville turned up the
following;
Ruffed Grouse drumming (heard)
Red-winged Blackbird
Robin
Canada Geese
Mallards
White-throated Sparrow (photographed)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (photographed)
Eastern Towhee (photographed)
Hairy Woodpecker
Yesterday afternoon at 3:30 I hiked for about an hour and a half at the
Lindsay Parsons Biodome. It was sunny/passing clouds and quite windy, which
prpbably accoutns for how quiet it was. Most of what I heard, other than
frogs, a Grey Catbird, and some crows and a bluejay, were chip notes. Most
of
Miyoko Chu and I walked through Sapsucker Woods together on Friday morning
(7:55-8:50 AM). Migrants were widely and rather sparsely scattered. We
found BLACK-THROATED GREEN , BLACK-THROATED BLUE, YELLOW, YELLOW-RUMPED, and
NASHVILLE WARBLERS, a COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, OVENBIRDS, and NORTHERN

Took a trip to Montezuma with my birding pal Dan Watkins.
We stopped at Myer's to get the Orchard Orioles for Dan
with success. At first, we did not hear or see them at all. So,
we walked to the point which was flooded and found
a couple GREATER YELLOWLEGS, SPOTTED SANDPIPER,
COMMON LOONS,
Two male BALTIMORE ORIOLES showed up at the feeder this morning, attracted no
doubt by the pieces of orange that Shirley had supplied. These were followed
by at least a half-dozen CEDAR WAXWINGS in a crabapple tree. No crabapples of
course but probably some bugs on the new leaves.

I arrived at Myers about 6:30 AM to find The park closed -- high water
has covered the spit and parts of the marina, and apparently they were unable
to keep cars from driving off the roadways and ruining the lawns. May be closed
for the next few days at least. I got close to the shore and
