I’m looking at a lone ibis in a open pool of water just past (west) of the
eagle sculpture along the wildlife drive. I don’t know which it is! I did not
see any others along the drive before this point today.

grassland nesters. The ridge of the drumlin that runs perpendicular to the road
is left grassy, which seems like a good spot to nest! Currently listening to
them sing, while watching 4 cranes meandering around.

Good morning!
I've had Cornell's Live FeederWatch Cam (Lab of O, Ithaca) running on YouTube
this morning (I have a windowless office, so this is my attempt at "birding" at
work haha)... A Common Grackle was just visiting the feeding station! The angle
of the light right now is beautiful and the

Great Horned Owls have a longer voice box, and a deeper voice.
Why are males and females talking to each other right now? Young ones? Super
early jump on breeding season?

This evening just about sunset, I heard that recognizable higher pitched,
sporadic honking of a snow goose flock flying over.
There were about 150-200 in a messy U shape flying NE, probably looking for a

This evening around 630 I watched 3 RUDDY TURNSTONE working along the newly
created beach on Seneca Lake, just north of the Ramada and the little iron
footbridge. They were hanging out with a flock of gulls. I am surprised to see
them there! Cool though.

Both yesterday and today I’ve been happy to hear “cheeese-burrr-gerr”
from the chickadees. And not just one, but counter singing between at least
2! Even with our first real snow fall upon us, they’re making me think

I visited the grasslands this afternoon at the Finger Lakes National Forest
in hopes of getting at least 1 new “FOY” species, and as soon as I started
