The update was to MDAC 2.5, not 2.6. My fault for getting the numbers mixed
up. But the CF code broke after upgrading to MDAC 2.5. Also for more
background the server is running NT4 SP6a, Website 2.5.8 and CF Enterprise
4.0.2. The CF code worked fine with MDAC 2.4, it was after upgrading to MDAC
VOPmail does not check the actual account, only the domain.
This is not a bug but by design as checking the existence
of the actual account is next to worthless since almost
all domains have a postmaster account.
Call it what you want, bug or feature, this problem will get you banned on
I am not saying you should rely 'solely' on filtering on the From line. What
I did say was every RBL will ban you if you use Vircom and your relay is
tested by the RBL.
Someone else on this list recommended VOPMail and I was simply pointing out
that VOPMail has a known problem with RBL's that
this is configured by IP address, the "from" address really
isn't an issue in our configuration.

up. No book covers all the bases nor does a class. But you should invest in
some books about computer security. Hacking Exposed by McClure is a must buy
and the security books from O'Reilly are very good.

Why would you want to use CF to drive an email list. That isn't what it was
designed to do. Use something like Lyris. The right tool for the right job.
I remember once I saw a software developer who wrote an entire accounting
package with Lotus 1-2-3 macros. It was impressive. Did AP, AR, printed
comma-separated values

Yes there are several from companies like Intel, Cisco and others. But the
applications and hardware start at US$25,000 and quickly go up. Intel's
solution just announced last month starts at $40,000.
