Update of the Malt Problem
The Guide to Chodosh has a full treatment of the malt problem. It mentioned
that some poskim hold that malt added to baking flour,
Today is January 15. The Guide had recommended that all items that contain
malt, for which the dating code is not known, may be purchased assuming
that the malt is Yoshon up to the purchase date of Jan. 15. Starting
today, one should seek confirmation that the malt is Yoshon. (Note, as

Agriculture. That report indicates that the harvest of the Chodosh crops
is somewhat behind the normal schedule. As a result, we are putting off

WARNING: Kemach has announced that there have been reports of bugs in one
batch of their high gluten flour. This flour has the dating code on
it of Y251051. Kemach recommends that this flour be sifted before
use. We are not aware of bugs in any other flour.

We never found any malt manufacturer that begins to ship Chodosh malt from
the new barley crop earlier than Dec. 15. The malt is then shipped, Dec. 15
or later, to other factories that begin to use it in the end products.
