You should also watch for the latest and greatest misnomer: Knowledge
Management Systems. CMS seems to be more and more uncool in marketese.
You have to at least add the enterprise at the begining if you want sales
people to take it seriously. But many are switching to Knowledge
the eLearning technologies like a big amoeba.
Anyone want to help me define a new eLearning standard? Hehe...

Basically, SCORM means two things for course developers. First, there is a
Javascript API that let's you communicate with the server. You call
functions like LMSInitialize()/LMSFinish() to tell the server the student
has started/ended the course, and LMSSetValue()/LMSGetValue() to set and
honest, it has
become a very popular feature. I don't think we can ever really get away
from visual editing but that doesn't bother me as long as what's produced
is structured. We can still take the inline edited content and spit it out
with a different css on a different publication.
