[computer-go] beating mogo with time (funny post)

2008-08-11 Thread Peter Christopher
I am about as strong as the mogos running on kgs. I get a kick out of trying to learn how to beat the mogos there. It's certainly not as easy as beating gnu go with a few stones (just surround it) or beating aya giving it 6 stones (just don't make tactical mistakes, but take advantage of its

[computer-go] Aya weaker bots not MC

AHA, that would explain it. Yes, my reasoning was based on totally incorrectly assumptions about its guts then;) Thanks for the correction. Peter ___ computer-go mailing list computer-go@computer-go.org

[computer-go] aya bot handicap error?

2008-05-15 Thread Peter Christopher
Hi I am just wondering if Aya bot has a handicap stone playout scoring bug, in which it does not take account for handicap stones the same way as kgs. I just played against it on kgs (peterchris vs AyaBot4) and about 80% into this game I made a huge error that should have cost me the game,

[computer-go] update on networking from phils with new CGOS configuration

2008-01-05 Thread Peter Christopher
Strangely enough, today the network from the phils to boardspace.net is so bad that even don's new configuration doesn't make up for the additional network lag (though I think it alleviates the bot's pain). With .2 seconds of thinking time, the net time detracted from time_remaining is still

[computer-go] Re: Please have your bot resign, for your own good

2008-01-02 Thread Peter Christopher
About my net lag, Don asked, What do you do when you play on KGS? When playing against humans, there is hardly ever a problem because humans either resign quickly, pass normally, or quit the game (ugh!) - humans don't notice the net lag. In the kgs computer tournaments, it's still my bot that

[computer-go] computer go documentation issues

2007-03-18 Thread Peter Christopher
Taking a look at computer go documentation, I see that there are (at least) three pages that exist in wiki format for top level computer go wiki pages- wikipedia.org - computer go sensei - computer go sensei - computer go programming It seems obvious that these are redundant. It seems

[computer-go] libego questions on playout

Hi LL or any others who know, I've been playing with libego. Nice work, thanks for distributing it. I am working on understanding some of the details of uct.cpp, in particular how it does playouts in life-death and ko situations. I will try to add some helpful comments to the code once I have
