Bug#616160: ziproxy: leavs dangling pidfile in some sitiuations
Package: ziproxy Severity: normal Hi. I discovered small problem with ziproxy initscript. Well, it happens that ziproxy, when it crashes (well i actually not witnessed its crash), or when stoping using initscript, leaves pidfile still in /var/run/. When then i try to start it, initscript tells me that pidfile is there, but no process with pid from it is running, and it exits without starting ziproxy. Should initscript just remove this pidfile and start ziproxy? It happened to me few times already, that i needed to remove pidfile manually from filesystem. Never had such problem with other deamons. thanks. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=pl_PL.utf8, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to pl_PL.utf8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#609852: Please update lenny's xen-tools to support installing squeeze
Package: xen-tools Version: 4.2-1 Severity: normal Tags: lenny patch Small changes needed to install squeeze in lenny's dom0. /usr/lib/xen-tools/debian.d/20-setup-apt - append case for squeeze where already is for lenny /etc/xen-tools/xen-tools.conf -- append squeeze s supported distribution via Debootstrap. In directory /usr/lib/xen-tools create symlink squeeze.d to debian.d Of course there are some drawbacks of using xen-tools from lenny to install squeeze. For example one cannot use ext4 due to the lack of ext4 in 2.6.26 kernel. (other parameters, like disk/swap sizes in xen-tools.conf are more than sufficient to install squeeze, so do not need to be changed.) Support for this will not only allow easier testing, but also allow for smoother transition when upgrading large xen installations (sometimes it is better to reinstall domU, than perform dist-upgrade inside it). After xen-create ends, one only needs to eventually check if kernel is available outside of domU. This can be done using pygrub or by just installing (or safer extracting) squeeze xen kernel in lenny. I tested this changes and they works perfectly :) -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.37-05668-g4162cf6 (SMP w/1 CPU core; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=pl_PL.utf8, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to pl_PL.utf8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages xen-tools depends on: ii debootstrap 1.0.26 Bootstrap a basic Debian system ii libconfig-inifiles-perl 2.58-1 Read .ini-style configuration file ii libfile-slurp-perl.13-1 single call read write file rout ii libtext-template-perl 1.45-2 Text::Template perl module ii perl-modules 5.10.1-17 Core Perl modules Versions of packages xen-tools recommends: ii libexpect-perl1.21-1 Expect.pm - Perl Expect interface ii rinse 1.7-1 RPM installation environment ii xen-hypervisor-4.0-i386 [xen- 4.0.1-1The Xen Hypervisor on i386 ii xen-shell 1.9-1 Console based Xen administration u Versions of packages xen-tools suggests: ii btrfs-tools 0.19+20100601-3 Checksumming Copy on Write Filesys pn cfengine2none (no description available) pn evms-cli none (no description available) ii reiserfsprogs1:3.6.21-1 User-level tools for ReiserFS file ii xen-utils-4.0 [xen-utils 4.0.1-1 XEN administrative tools ii xfsprogs 3.1.4 Utilities for managing the XFS fil -- Configuration Files: /etc/xen-tools/xen-tools.conf changed [not included] -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#609852: Please update lenny's xen-tools to support installing squeeze

Ah. Yes indeed. I used reportbug utility on wrong machine. Lenny version i was referring is xen-tools 3.9-4+lenny1. But I'm working on a BPO version of 4.2 which should solve that issue. Indeed it can be better option. I tested this changes and they works perfectly :) I must admit, I'm surprised about that. And a little bit suspicious. ;-) Yes, I also was very suprised. But it works, boots, console available, disks working. So I still would appreciete this three small changes in lennys nonBPO version (queued on next upload). There was small problem due to the domU missing modules for xen networking (but block devices and console apperantly works). Actually xen-tools brute-force-copied /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel directory from dom0 (which obviously copied incorrectly 2.6.26-2-xen-686 , as 2.6.32-5-xen-686 was not installedused in lenny) to domU, and this directory of course was useless in domU due to the different version of kernel. (I deleated it later manually from domU, as it is not handled by package managment). So I installed linux-modules-2.6-xen-686 in domU (which pulled few dependencies namely linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-686, libuuid-perl, initramfs-tools, klibc-utils, libklibc, linux-base), and problem was solved (proper modules loaded later in boot process automatically). I was thinking that xen-tools will instll it automaticaly (using package linux-image-2.6-xen-686 on i386), but apperantly it did not do so. I also tried to force dom0 initramfs-tools to put this networking modules into initramfs (i inspected initrd and it contained only netxen_nic, xenblkfront from relevant modules; crucial xen-netfront was missing, as well other xen modules, like xenfs, or blktap, but they are not critically needed). It also worked ( by adding nacassary modules names into domO /etc/initramfs/modules), but I think puting real kernel in domU and then using pygrub is better option, than always having all kernels/initrds versions synchronized on both domU and domO. So even better is to install whole kernel image (kernel and modules). This way modules will be present and kernel and properly generated initramfs from inside domU. This will make both pygrub and non-pygrub loading easier. So last things will be to add linux-image-2.6-xen-{686,amd64} as default installed package in all debian profiles in xen-tools. If it is not available xen-tools as I understand will not install it. (linux-modules- package only is an other option, but squeeze do not provide it anymore, and it will not help in scenario with pygrub). BTW. I do not know how, but squeeze domU load so much faster than lenny domU (on lenny dom0), about 12 seconds comparing to 30 seconds. :) -- Witold Baryluk JID: witold.baryluk // jabster.pl signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#606826: upgrade-reports: release notes should warn about vital NFS mounts during upgrade
Le 12/12/2010 à 01:50, Witold Baryluk a écrit : Package: upgrade-reports Severity: normal Tags: squeeze Hi. Basically I had /var/cache/apt, linked to /home/root/apt, and /home was NFS mount. I also discovered today that I have all users' TMP and TEMP env. var. pointing to /home/username/tmp which unfortunelty is also true for user root (i do not know how to add exception to pam_env.so and /etc/security/pam_env.conf for user root - it currently affects all users). So also interactive root session (used to upgrade) had TMP and TEMP pointing to /home/root/tmp, this directory obviously existed, but due to the problem on upgrade with nfs (probably portmap restart, or something like that), any access to TMP resulted in error (No such directory - which resulted in many packages upgrade/install errors), or uninteruptible lock (even worse). What is even stranger manually exporting TMP=/tmp TEMP=/tmp just before apt-get , due not changed this behaviour. This is of course my fault that root user had insecure and not robust enough TMP directory set. (but I unfortunelty do not know how to make it work and still have it configured for normal users). I do not know if also adding small warning somehow about this in upgrade notes can help someone. I know this is probably unusual configuration, but it is good to know all this strange situations where upgrade can fail and notify users about such possibility. PS. TMP/TEMP is setup into users home directory mainly due to the simpler quota managment. (and the fact that local /tmp had no quota and can easly fill up making some system services fail). Bug#610036: manpages: update manpage for resolv.conf for IPv6 support
Package: manpages Version: 3.27-1 Severity: normal I today discovered undocumented feature of resolv.conf Nameply nameserver can be a IPv6 address! Current manpage (implicitly) says only IPv4 is supported. So for example: == nameserver 2001:470:20::2 nameserver 149.156.82.205 search smp.if.uj.edu.pl == will work PS. Manpage also misses the important fact that empty lines, and lines begining (?) from # are ignored. I was always thinking that putting # will make some error, as it was no information in manpage about it, but I found that resolvconf put # automatically so i assume it works. Bug#564271: RFP: ossp -- OSS (Open Sound System) Proxy
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: ossp Version : 1.3.1 Upstream Author : Tejun Heo t...@kernel.org * URL : http://sourceforge.net/projects/osspd/ * License : GPL v2+ Programming Lang: C Description : OSS (Open Sound System) Proxy OSS Proxy Daemon is Linux userland OSS sound device (/dev/[a]dsp and /dev/mixer) implementation using CUSE (extension of FUSE framework, but for imlpementation of character devices like /dev/dsp in userspace). Currently it supports forwarding OSS sound streams to pulseaudio. MIDI part isn't implemented, but except that everything should work. Playing, recording, 5.1ch, A-V syncing, all should work. Behaviour of OSS mixer is different, see README for more details. ossp was created because of limitations of current OSS in kernel, and limitations of emualtion layer of ALSA, and limitations of aoss (package alsa-oss) libraries. One of the most annoying problem with current state of OSS in Linux is mixxing beetwen multiple OSS programs or OSS and ALSA programs running in concurently. In short words it is impossible to mix properly sound. But there are still lots of application which uses OSS. And many developers argue that OSS is esier to use than ALSA API. And OSS is more portable. Beyond mixing and concurant usage of multiple API, there is also many OSS features which are not implemented in the Linux. Notably, proper multichanel playback, or synchronisation. This proxy resolves most of problems in elegant way, and allows of removal of OSS interface from the kernel. Imlementation of ossp was one of the main reason behind the CUSE (extension for FUSE, but for character devices). Maybe some people behind FUSE in Debian will be interested in packaging? Pakcaging shouldn't be hard, it is small program. Some additional configuration should be probebly done in /etc/ and debianised init files. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#498357: ignorance of psi devs
Just wanted to comment about this from my perspective. I'm now using other jabber client exclusively this (DBus support for network up/down, suspend/resume) wasn't fixed. I also know people who have many problems with this. For example my friends have psi client on laptop, and when they suspend laptop, they are still online. Then i just write something (or few long messages) to them, thinking they are online. Server tries to deliver message (over TCP connection to computer which is not avalible now). TCP connection eventually timeouts, and message is dropped. Them what? Messages are dropped, i'm angry on my friend that they are ignoring me, and i then argue with them that I send them something imporatant, and they ware online. Sorry, but this is very bad situation. Bug#573225: transmission: Transmission no more preallocates files on disk
Package: transmission Version: 1.91-1 Severity: normal New version of transmission doesn't preallocate space for files on disk. It just creates sparse file with .part extension (i knot this .part can be disabled). But it seems to not preallocate as before (it was filled with zeros), so it can happen that while downloading it will fill the my partition. I'm using zfs-fuse, on which currently filling disk is critical and can easly lead to crash (i.e. with combination with snapshoting). Maybe transmission is using fallocate? (i don't know if this is implemented in fuse and zfs-fuse). Any way if it is not implemneted (and new transmission is using it), then probably fallocate returns error code, and there should be fallback to simple zerofilling file. Bug#573236: RFP: logfsprogs -- LogFS file system utilities
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, riku.voi...@iki.fi, dan...@lists.debian-maintainers.org Package name: logfsprogs Version: Upstream Author: Joern Engel jo...@logfs.org URL: http://logfs.org/ License: GPL Description: LogFS file system utilities LogFS is a scalable flash filesystem. It is aimed to replace JFFS2 for most uses, but focuses more on large devices. JFFS2 works well enough on small devices, it just gets slow (for example mounting can take minutes) and uses up too much memory on larger ones. This package contains utilities needed to create (mklogfs) and check consistency (logfsck) of LogFS file system. NOTE: You will also need at least version 2.6.34 of the Linux kernel with proper modules to use this file system. WARNING: LogFS in its current state it is still very experimental and should not be used for other than testing purposes. As of merging of logfs into mainline kernel after more than 2 years of development, it would be nice to have packaged mkfs.logfs (mklogfs) etc. ABI, interfaces, and format is still not stablized, but having this tools will simplify testing for most of users. I added mtd-utils and btrfs-tools and nilfs2-tools maintainers as CC, maybe they are interested in packaging this very simple program. Probably most boring work will be writing man page. Also compression support need to be documented (chattr +c, chattr -c, du). Thanks. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#576118: apt-listbugs: Doesn't work with IPv6 HTTP proxy

I hope that Ryan (the other co-maintainer of apt-listbugs) has access to some IPv6 network... Ryan, do you have? no. but it sounds like you don't need a network to reproduce this since it's all just with localhost, right? IPv6 netork is not needed. It is sufficient to in default privoxy configuration change listen-address 127.0.0.1:8118, to listen-address [::1]:8118 $ env | grep proxy http_proxy=http://localhost:8118/ no_proxy=localhost,127.0.0.0/8 $ cat /etc/resolv.conf nameserver 127.0.0.1 $ cat /etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.1.1 sredniczarny ::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback fe00::0 ip6-localnet ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix ff02::1 ip6-allnodes ff02::2 ip6-allrouters $ I have also nscd package installed and running. Well, I don't know: it probably depends on where exactly the problem lies. Somewhere in ruby's libraries probably. Hopefully the situation will be clearer, when we get the answers to the questions I asked Witold... Unfortunettly i just tried 'apt-get install something' which will trigger apt-listbugs, but it looks that apt-lisbugs now connect to the internet directly, despite the fact that there is http_proxy variable. I do not know why this behaviour changed. After setting soap_use_proxy=on i got: ... Reading package fields... Done Reading package status... Done Retrieving bug reports... 0% Fail Error retrieving bug reports from the server with the following error message: W: Connection refused - connect(2) (http://localhost:8118) It could be because your network is down, or because of broken proxy servers, or the BTS server itself is down. Check network configuration and try again Neverthless this is other error message i was seying previously. Is this possible that apt-listbugs used http_proxy WITHOUT soap_use_proxy? And why this environment variable is needed at all. It would be much better to have enabled this by default (lack of soap_use_proxy will mean that one should use http_proxy variable if it is set). -- Witold Baryluk JID: witold.baryluk // jabster.pl signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#561520: debdeltas: add parameter to only consider included architectures
Package: debdelta Version: 0.36 Severity: wishlist Hi, i have a big mirror of debian, which includes amd64, i386, hurd, and kfreebsd-* I wish to run debdeltas easly on this mirror pool, but only for i386 architecture. Because most of users uses it, and debdeltas will be most usefull for them, additionally my server lacks CPU and disk resources for running, full debdeltas on all architectures. Currently i don't know how easly to do this, I added if arch != i386: continue just before yield in iterate_Packages, in debdeltas, but it doesn't helped. It is probably very simple change, and it could be usefull. Package: acpi-support Version: 0.109-11 Followup-For: Bug #510619 'w' truncates longer than 8 char long loings. Mayby use 'who'? Then after getent passwd $user and finding homedir, ensure that it is not empty (so such user exists in system database). I noticed this using scripts from https://code.launchpad.net/~karl.hegbloom/tabuntu/tablet-screen-rotation-support which rotates screen (on my IBM X41 Tablet), using xrandr on some acpi event (like turning LCD display). Bug#605400: Please remove gnome-do from system-wide autostart.
Package: gnome-do Version: 0.8.3.1+dfsg-2 Severity: wishlist Tags: squeeze Hi. File /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-do.desktop makes gnome-do start for each user. Actually it starts for example in gnome, and additionally shows popup which is very confusing because there is no x (close) button to close it (yes, i know esc will work, but not all users know this). It also eats some memory and most users do not use it by default. So it is wasteful both in memory and start up time. If somebody want to use it, will easily add it to autostart manually. Bug#605643: make cpufreqd-get show also active rule
Package: cpufreqd Version: 2.4.2-1 Severity: wishlist cpufreqd-get shows as all profiles, and active one. It would be also usefull to know active rule which triggered this profile. I often do not know why my cpu freq is very low, or very big for no reason (i.e. it is low, but i have something which should trigger performance high profile, but it isn't activated). No i must enable debuging in cpufreqd and look at big logs (which grows quickly). Bug#605644: terminator: improve cursor handling when one of subterminals closes
Package: terminator Version: 0.95-1 Severity: minor HI! I have small problem, it is especially noticable in system under high load. 1. Open terminator. 2. Press Ctrl-O to open subterminal 3. Coursor will be placed not in this new subterminal 4. Press Ctrl-O to open new subterminal. 5. New subterminal will split subterminal from step 2, and cursor will be placed in it. 6. Write sleep 10; exit, hit enter, 7. Use quickly Alt-UpArrow twice, to move to original subterminal (from step 1). 8. Wait a last subterminal from step 5/6, to quit, and close. No on my computer, terminator closes this last subterminal, but automatically moves cursor to subterminal from step 3. (middle one, parrent of closed one). Please before moving cursor (activating subterminal), after one of them quits/closes, check if cursor is actualy active there. Becuase if it isn't there, then there is no sense in moving it to its paranet, or any other window. Just leave cursor where it is currently. Bug#605646: reniced name is confusing, should constantly monitor system
Package: reniced Version: 1.19-1 Severity: normal reniced names suggest that it is a demon, consantly running and monitoring system and changing nice level. Unfortunetly, reniced is called in init, but it is one-shot application of renice, just for programs started before it. Essentially it is impossible with it, to renice new programs (like programs a user on workstation starts, or after logging via ssh, or after other deamon, i.e. apache, mysql restart). It would be MUCH more usefull if renice will sit in loop, and every 30 seconds or so, check if list of processes changed, if it is so, than aplay rules to new ones. If possibly it could use netlink to monitor for forks, and execvs, to make it much more efficient. Currently i just have script which loops while true; do /usr/bin/reniced; sleep 30 done Thanks. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.37-rc3-sredniczarny-11090-g7208364 (SMP w/1 CPU core; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to pl_PL.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages reniced depends on: ii libbsd-resource-perl 1.2904-1 BSD process resource limit and pri ii perl 5.10.1-16 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction reniced recommends no packages. reniced suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/reniced.conf changed: 0 ^sshd 5 ^mysqld 15i ^clamd 15 ^exim4 15 ^freshclam 15i ^spamd 10 ^rsync 5 ^opera 8 ^apache -3 ^mpd 12 ^transmissio 18 ^cron 18 ^beagled 18 ^freshclam -1 ^zfs-fuse -5 ^kcrypt -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#593658: default compression=on?
Please do not change default of compression. I have compression enabled on most of my datasets, but it really should not be default. This can break existings assumptions and scripts (for example from solaris or freebsd). Much better would be change debian-installer to create dataset with compression as an option. Also things like copies=2 can be added to debian-installer, as it can be very usefull for system data, especially if we are installing on single disk (i.e. laptop). But nobody is suggesting makeing copies=2 a default for zfs create. If people will want to enable compression they will enabled it, when they find it beneficial. If there are anyone making compression=on a default, i would only think as upstream to make this decision after extremly extensive testing as it needs lots of knowledge to state that it do not introduce considerable regressions. Bug#592549: gdm3 on {re,}start on kfreebsd displays only a black screen with an X cursor
Hi I today installed kfreebsd-i386 in qemu, and have exactly the same problem. This happend in cirrus, vesa, vga modes. Mouse is working. After switching to console i see 4 Xorg processes in `ps aux` After installing xdm, and changing it to default, i can use Xorg and loging to GNOME without problem (both on vesa and cirrus drivers). It looks that gdm3 performs incorrect detection of Xorg dieing. Maybe incorrect signal handler or direct usage of /proc interface which isn't complete in FreeBSD. Bug#596365: hardening-wrapper: Consider unifying functionality of pentium-builder and apt-build wrappers.
Package: hardening-wrapper Severity: wishlist Hi, guys, I was recently recompiled few base tools for my own machine 32bit core2, and noticed some noticable speed improvements. I started mini project to have own repository of usefull packages, which will just recompile debian's packages. Unfortunetly some debian/rules, do not properly use dpkg-buildflags, or do not use it at all. I filed few bugs (really simple single line changes), but I do not think such changes will be made quickly or for most of packages. I also know about pentium-builder and apt-build, which provides wrappers around gcc, to inject compile time options. I know this isn't best option, but consider that hardening-wrapper do the same. As apt-build is for some time not matintained and buggy, and that pentium-builder is also not active, i was going to ask, could you add for example simple mechanism: DEB_BUILD_HARDENING_CFLAGS_APPEND=... DEB_BUILD_HARDENING_LDFLAGS_APPEND=... DEB_BUILD_HARDENING_CXXFLAGS_APPEND=... DEB_BUILD_HARDENING_FFLAGS_APPEND=... ? I have similar mechnism already in my build system (based on sbuild), but it will be much more usefull to have standard way to do this. And hardening-wrapper is maintained, in contrast to apt-build and pentium- builder :) Thanks. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to pl_PL.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. It is highly probably that terminator or some libraries have been upgaded when I have been running terminal. Neverthless this should not happen (consider disaster when doing upgrade inside terminaot, and then is breaks). I know that this is file loading is done by Python alone, for importing it. Unfortunetly now i cannot run gdb on this freezed terminator (well it takes 100% CPU, but after `kill -STOP pid` is stoped), becuase i also upgraded python today and gdb says: /usr/bin/python (executable): file delated, cannot load symbols :( It looks that it is some dependcy problem becuase after doing grep -v ENOENT, there is only ioctls, but if there would be a successfull import, there should be successfull open which returns something positive, and without errno. So it is probably due to the upgrade. After doing some research, it looks that beyond /usr/lib/python2.6/, /usr/local/lib/pytyon2.6, and few other standard places, it searches also in /usr/share/terminator/ and /usr/share/terminator/terminatorlib/plugins/ But NOT in /usr/share/terminator/terminatorlib/ ! It searches for terminal, notebook and container modules. I symlinked everything from /usr/share/terminator/terminatorlib/ into both above places and it is loading them ( i see reads in strace), But it still loops and eats 100% CPU. Strange. Killing now terminator and blame an upgrade process. It is strange. Bug#596264: dash: Should respect CFLAGS when building
On 09-10 07:23, Jonathan Nieder wrote: Hi, Witold Baryluk bary...@smp.if.uj.edu.pl wrote: In Debian main mechanism for providing building flags when building packages is by using /etc/dpkg/buildflags.conf. This file is readed by dpkg-buildpackage, and nacassary environment variables are created before debian/rules is executed. I think that mechanism is deprecated (or rather, was never recommended by policy[1] at all); instead, new debian/rules files are supposed to use something like CFLAGS := $(shell dpkg-buildflags --get CFLAGS) Yes, it looks that you are right. It looks that change will be slightly more invasive, but by being more explicit can be controled. Will update my patches (I have patches for around 20 packages now), and see how it works. Bug#602149: brasero: It should be possible to directly burn bz2/gz/7z iso image
Package: brasero Version: 2.30.3-1 Severity: wishlist Hi. Iso images are often compressed using bzip2 or gzip2 (without tar). Many times it do not compress well, but each byte is crucial when distributing such big files, so it is common to see compressed iso images. (most linux distro do not do this, becuase packages are already compressed well). I.e. I wanted to burn dragonfly 2.8.2 and it is distributed as iso.bz2. Why I need to extract iso from it, if I could perform this on the fly. It would be usefull to have direct bz2 (and possibly other formats) read support in brasero.
