when you run OOo in english the option in Tools - Options -
OpenOffice.org Writer is called Mail Merge E-mail.
I didn't know what mail merge was, too but thats not because of the
description but because I didn't know the translations.

umlauts öäüÖÄÜß without any problems.

want to use icedove kcontrol configures ~/.kde3 but kde-open
already uses ~/.kde4
The solution is to configure icedove manually:
.kde4/share/config/emaildefaults
[PROFILE_Default]
EmailClient=/usr/bin/icedove

Nope. it's not :). It patches the files in the location, whereas it's
debian/rules which does the s/openofficeorg3whatever/ooo-whatever/
subsitution

when I run OOo on KDE 4.3 (in sid but older 4.x versions might be the same)
writer for example opens as a window. Then I maximize the window and work.
Closing and then reopening OOo opens it in a windows again and not maximized.
