Because there is an entry for the device in /dev, Debian recognised it and has 
a driver for it.

I think that you still must add your userid to the group that has access to the 
device. First, find out the device's group:

$ ls -l /dev/sr0
brw-rw---T+ 1 root cdrom 11, 0 jan 30 11:45 /dev/sr0

In my case, the device's name is /dev/sr0. It may differ in your situation.

Then, as root, add your userid to the devices group:
# adduser andrey cdrom

I assume that your userid is andrey...

Then, log out and log in again, until then the group change will have no effect.

c'est pas pour en remettre une couche mais il y a plusieurs architectures 
hard qui sont développées mais le côté software c'est galère (cf. APC

Donc avant d'acheter regarder si les forums sont actifs dessus et leur

 Ich habe davor mit deborphan Pakete
 entfernt, weil ich dachte, dass deborphan nur wirklich nicht mehr
 benötigte Pakete entfernt (ist wohl nicht der Fall):

Doch das ist der Fall, deborphan entfernt nur Pakete die nicht mehr
durch ein anderes benoetigt werden (IIRC). Aber er hat dir wohl
lessdisks deinstalliert (warum auch immer du das installiert hast) und
das hat die hosts/hostname und vllt. noch mehr Dateien in
/var/state/lessdisks/etc geloescht ohne den Inhalt in /etc
wiederherzustellen. Das ist ein Fehler in lessdisks und sollte
dementsprechend im BTS gemeldet werden.

 Jetzt bin ich mit meinen Kenntnissen am Ende (benutze debian erst seit
 wenigen Wochen). Woran könnte es liegen?

s.o. Einfach die Dateien neu anlegen. Solange du IPv6 nicht brauchst
reicht sowas in der Art:

/etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1  localhost
IP deiner Netzwerkkarte hostname den du haben willst kurzer hostname

/etc/hostname:
voll qualifizierter Hostname deines Systems

Dann evtl. neu booten (bin nicht sicher ob das Ausfuehren von
/etc/init.d/hostname.sh ausreicht).

interpretiert die Ausgabe, auch hier kann es sein, das eigentlich
gleiche Dateien unterschiedlich sind, denn ein einfaches diff -u
interpretiert auch unterschiedliche Anzahlen an Leerzeilen/zeichen als
Unterschied. 

Achja, ich vermute das das fuer alle Config-Files gilt die per
.conffiles ins Paket eingebunden sind.

Jep, hast recht. Ich hab mich nochmal schalu gemacht. Existiert eine 
Datei conffiles in control.tar.gz, dann fragt es für jede Datei, die 
in conffiles steht, nach, ob sie überschrieben werden soll, sollten 
sie unterschiedlich sein. Aber leider steht in den Debian Developer

Dokus und in den man-Pages zu den debconf und Co nicht drin, womit die
testen, ob sich die Dateien unterscheiden. Aber ich tippe da auch auf
diff.

in den Dateien /var/lib/dpkg/info/*md5sum sind alle Dateien *außer* den

das Feld heisst Conffiles: (und existiert natürlich nicht bei jedem
Paket).

Nein, denn dann könnte es nur die existierende mit der neuen
vergleichen.  Stattdessen muss es ja aber die alte Variante aus dem
Paket mit der im Dateisystem existierenden vergleichen, und nur wenn
diese sich unterscheiden und die neue nochmal anders als diese beiden
ist, nur dann wird gefragt.

Das generell so zu machen ist keine gute Idee.  Wenn man ohnehin
interaktiv updated, ist es besser, sich die Unterschiede anzeigen zu
lassen - dann kann man sich gleich notieren, bei welchen Dateien
evtl. Probleme auftreten können, wo man auf jeden Fall manuell
eingreifen sollte, und wo man keine Probleme erwartet.  Gelegentlich
kommen die Fragen auch bei Dateien, die man gar nicht verändert hat -
das sind dann im Prinzip Bugs im Paket.  Ob man die extra melden will
muss man selber wissen, aber in diesen Fällen sollte man auf jeden Fall
die neue Version übernehmen.

 et hier j'ai eu un beau message comme quoi j'avais des block defectueux
 quand j'essai fsck.reiserfs dessus ça ne passe pas

dd_rescue permet de faire une image (sur une partition saine, sans secteurs
défectueux) d'un système de fichier endommagé.

Ensuite tu peux travailler sur le fichier image avec reiserfsck, qui ne sera
plus handicapé par les secteurs défectueux.

Les disques se réparent tous seuls en utilisant l'option -w de badblocks sur le
volume endommagé, mais les données sont perdues, d'où l'intérêt de ce qui
précède.

 Que me conseillez vous de faire pour installer par exemple rdiff-backup
 0.13.3 de testing au lieu du 0.6.0-1 de woody avec python 2.3 ?

La démarche [standard?|que j'utilise] pour faire ce mix est:

- Mettre dans /etc/apt/preferences des groupes de lignes comme
  celles-ci pour dire à apt que choisir:

   Package: *|paquet
   Pin: release a=distro
   Pin-Priority: prio

ou distro est dans {stable, testing, unstabla, experimental} et des
valeurs élevées de prio augmentent la probabilité de choix.

- Mettre dans ton source-list les références aux distros que tu
  souhaites mixer

- faire un apt-get update pour récupérer l'ensemble des paquets des
  différentes distros

- vérifier avec apt-cache policy paquet ce qu'il va/veut faire pour
  un paquet donné

- jouer avec l'option -t de apt-get ou avec la syntaxe
  paquet=numero.de.version dans le même apt-get

 Si je force le apt-get est ce que je ne risque pas de tout casser ?

Si, forcément, mais ce risque se mesure.

 Please ne me ressortez pas le sempiternel RTFM, parce que c'est pas comme
 ca que ca donnera envie aux novices d'approfondir leurs connaissances avec
 leur debian.

Image. Can anybody else *g*? 
If it's not an iso9660 Image (a bin/cue for instance) it can be a litle
bit harder. However, apt-cache says that bchunk can handle them *g*.

teurer als wenn man es auf Unikosten zieht und selber brennt (allerdings
sind sie möglicherweise weniger aktuell - falls ihr nicht woody
verwenden wollt).

 und am besten auch einige Werbeartikel wie Große Banner die
 wir auf unseren Lans aufhängen können um sie bei ihrer Arbeit ein
 bisschen zu unterstützen.

Keine Ahnung ob es da irgendwas gibt. Vielleicht mal (auf englisch) auf
der liste debian-project nachfragen.

(www.debian.org) also in dutch. Get a cd set or download the images from
cdimage.debian.org.

You need the debian 3.0 cd images for the i386 platform (unless you're

Appelable également avec C-\ C-\ (bascule le mode), mais c'est un peu
lourd à longue (à mon avis).

J'ai contacté le type, et il ne sais pas trop à qui il a envoyé cet e-mail.
Il n'est pas conscient de ce qu'il a fait, et vous demande de le pardonner.

No, this functionality is included in the kernel (probably compiled as a
module). You only need to mount the FAT32 fs as such and it should work
(assuming that said file system is included in your kernel).

Il y a ffmpeg (http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net). C'est pour faire du
flux video au départ mais la description dit que c'est l'équivalent de
sox pour la vidéo. Il supporte a priori les deux formats. Ça n'existe
pas encore en .deb mais c'est très facile à paqueter il n'y a que deux
exécutables.

I'm the maintainer for the nano package. Some time ago I added a
.desktop file in nano, but now I wonder if it's correct to have it
there, so I'm looking for user opinions.
Nano isn't GUI-based or anything, it's a curses editor. Do you people
think it should show up in GNOME's Applications section or should I
remove the .desktop file entirely?

I'm not a GNOME user myself, and hadn't noticed this. I wrote
nano.desktop as I thought it was cool. As there's the Debian menus
still, I guess I should remove them. Or we could ask debian-user. What
do you think?

I personally don't care as I don't use the panel.

I would suggest you make floppies based on the images provided on the
cd, simply replacing the kernel on the rescue disk.  You'll probably
get module errors but that's not a deal-breaker for installation.

What sort of mouse do you have?  How are you trying to configure X?
'xf86config' is a console-mode program that will generate an
XF86Config file from the answers to its questions.

Neither. paride is for an IDE adapter connected to the parallel

OLD technology and VERY rare these days). So, unless you have a really
old system, you won't need them. I do believe the IDE support is built
right into the installation kernel so you won't need to load a module
for it if you are using IDE disks, which is what you're doing with the
menu you're in. It's pretty rare to have to load a block device
module during the installation.

 (Si tu cdrom es el dipositivo hdc naturalmente, -t iso9660 es el
 formato)

 esto lo puedes incluir en el fichero /etc/fstab para poder montarlo
 automaticamente (para más información $ man fstab).

 Copiar desde el cdrom hacia otras ubicaciones es igual que copiar
 entre directorios normales o al floppy.

 $ cp /mnt/directorio.cdrom /home/jonny/java/

 Por ejemplo.

Try unsetting these variables if you use them.

Have a look at ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/Linux/680x0/v2.?
There are several kernels, espezially the latest once. Grab the latest 
there and compile it with the CV64/3D support aktivated.

After compiling the kernel copy it to the amiga partition and use it
to boot. If it works reboot with video=virgefb:800x600-8 or similar
mode with your WB set to that mode. You should have Linux running on
the CV64/3D.

It is a ATAPI drive, you just select IDE/ATAPI driver.
For accessing the iso9660 filesystem on CDs, you need the isofs filesystem
support.

The official debian latex package is tetex. Which packages did you d/l?
Without the version of the package, we can't tell you more.

file specifying where jobs can come from (and other info), make it
available using TFTP, and let it know where it is with BOOTP or DHCP.

Look at what the command pon does:

As you can see, pon is just a little shell script that calls
/usr/sbin/pppd with the following arguments:

So to find out more, look at the manpage for pppd.

Yes.  That is, there's a more up to date jdk package (with a different 
and to my way of thinking better organization) in hamm, and last I
checked Sun wasn't releasing any java stuff for linux - the linux-java 
things are ported from the Sun reference implementation.  This means
there is always a delay beyond the normal packaging delay as a new
release is first ported to Linux, and then packaged for Debian.

By the way, the hamm jdk package installs and runs just fine on my
all-libc5 (bo) system.
