This is unsurprising given the ALT key is used to bring the menus up. So
ALT+T brings up the 'Terminal' menu, and ALT+V brings up the 'view'
menu. So in effect you have ALT+T assigned to two things. Perhaps gnome-
terminal should realise this and either refuse to let you make the
configuration

Well make it a week or two. Running the computer with the electrical
cord in place does not count (although it does add data about how the
battery charges). You can check the progress by right clicking g-p-m in
the system tray, selecting power history and then in that box (near
the bottom),
When I push the PrintScrn button I only got an image of the active
screen. I wanted a screendump of my entire screen so I tried CTRL-ALT
PrintScrn. Then it crashed

I've added a rhythmbox task, as that is the most likely candidate
