I too have this evolution migration problem. I backed up my settings on
a Fedora 8 x86_32 paltform and performed a bare metal install of Ubuntu
Intrepid 8.10 x86_64 on the same hardware. Started evolution, started a
restore from the backup, and it did the silent fail scenario.

I don't understand the difference from your two options.
I think the correct behavior is to ask everytime for the name of player,
by automatically filling the entry box with last name used, but
maintaining the entry box editable (the actual one as for the firsts
games, as described above).
I have fixed this bug.
I dont know exactly how, because I did two things:
1) removed folder ~/.config/brasero
2) clicked on properties of dvd just before beginning the burning and
selected ~ as temp directory.
You expert say which is the real solution and close this bug file.

Thanks, this looks like a glib bug though. Nautilus tries to change the
filename with g_file_set_display_name_async () in both successful and
unsuccessful attempts at changing the filename (I ran it through GDB to
see), so it seems that the problem is in glib.

I have this bug as well. I have noticed it at other times as well (not
just adding and removing media.) Once I installed gvfs-
dbgsym=1.1.3-0ubuntu2 the problem went away.
