I have about the same problem since I upgraded to Maverick, only it isn't
related to the radio but happens with any audio I play. After a variable amount
of time (sometimes it works a whole day, but sometimes only a few minutes) the
audio starts to become scrambled, with the interlapping blocks

Battery fully charged, but removing power plug causes immediate hibernation. No
error or notification.
I tried the gconf-editor /apps/gnome-power-manager/general de-select the option
use_time_for_policy, but
